Case The clock has a superb scrolled top design case with a superb fretted panel to the top of the hood which is only seen on high quality longcases. The beautiful ... morecuban mahogany case has a removable sliding hood to top which slides off to reveal access to the top quality 8 day movement and superbly painted dial The Case has a serpentine design top trunk door with a oval panel to the centre which has a cross banding around the edge. The door hinges open to reveal access to the original 2 cast weights and original pendulum, the door is lockable and comes with its key. The Beautiful original English flame mahogany case has a stunning colour and patination to the mahogany which looks awesome wherever it is displayed. The case has the most stunning marquetry inlays decorating it with 3 shell designs to the top of the trunk and to the bottom pillars on each side of the trunk with floral marquetry inlays. On each side of the hood and the trunk their are superbly carved mahogany pillars that are in excellent condition and look superb as a display look. To the top of the hood their is a curved fretwork panel all in original excellent condition. In the base of the case their is a circular panel with the matching cross banding going around it. Antique Ithaca Grandfather Clock Runs and Strikes Mahogany Case Spring Wound not Weight Driven Here is a great looking Ithaca Grandfather clock for your buying consideration. I recently picked the clock up at an auction. This clock was made sometime between 1898 to around 1917. Ithaca went bankrupt in 1917. What is unique about this clock is that the movement and strike are both spring wound. No weights. The weight clocks were more common. Not sure if the movement is a Welch, New Haven, Gilbert or Waterbury or not, as Ithaca used to collaborate with them all quite a bit. There is one pic of the movement from the bottom. The clock is running in the condition I obtained it. It does occasionally struggle a little thru the striking of the hours, but does make it all the way thru. Time will tell if the striking smooths out or the works just needs ... morea good cleaning. It strikes the hours on the hour and then one strike at the half hour. The clock has probably not run for years, so lubricant on the movements tends to get sticky when sits idle. The clock comes with the winding key that came with it. Both the springs feel sound when a key is put to them. The glass in this case looks good. The clock face seems to be made of some sort of paper with some sort of coating on it. Loose at a couple of the corners where tacked down. It also has"1753" noted on it. So must have been styled after a clock of that time. Clock is about 100 years old only. That is still pretty old, eh? Great looking long pendulum rod and bob came with this clock as well. Clock is running a little slow, so have been adjusting the pendulum bob screw. The latch on the bottom pendulum and clock face doors are intact and work. The clock has a great mahogany case on it. No cracks. Splits or missing pieces. There are some finish issues on the top of the base on the left side, that should be attended to by the new owner. I went thru three cleaning cloths and lots of orange oil in getting the smoke off of the case. Must have been in a smokers house or one

Antique Ithaca Arts and Crafts Grandfather Clock Mission Oak Weight Driven Here is a great looking Ithaca Arts and Crafts Grandfather clock. Called a Grandfather as is stands more than 6' tall. I recently picked the clock up at an auction. The clock comes with a winding key. Both the springs feel sound when a key is put to them. The clock is now in running condition. Just has the movement serviced and cleaned by Clock Doc. The last two pics above show the serviced and cleaned unit along with the new pendulum and bob. The wheel that the pendulum would work off of and the suspension spring it hangs from were not there and had to be replaced. A"new" pendulum was made that is much more appropriate looking for this clock. Works look pretty clean. So hope that those two pieces being replaced with get it running again. Now has another ... moreset of black hands on it as well. Probably a Gilbert movement in this clock, but not marked as such, just the"34" is on the movement. So, the pendulum and hands that show in the current pics are not the ones that come with it. More recent pics will be put up soon(2/23) The mission oak case is still in great shape and is all there. Looks to be an all appropriate. If not original wood case. I love the 4 wood pieces on the top of the clock that are doweled in(a a couple are loose) They give it a really dignified classic look. The wood clock face has a couple of places near the bottom of it where the laminate is raised or bubbled. I have cleaned the wood case with orange oil, but I think a more thorough cleaning will really bring out more of the graining and the true beauty of the wood. Probably made around the early 1910s to 1920s based upon the movement and what have researched online. The movement is attached to the back wood plate of the case. Up for auction is a very rare. Collectable Rich Broad Bodmin grandfather hall clock. I bought this from an estate sale and was impressed that the clock still works and keeps time. The strike and large bell produce a loud gong sound. The gong will work when you pull the strike chain but it isn't being triggered by the clock assembly. Repairs are required to have the gong triggered by the clock mechanism. The hall clock has been running for 6 months and has not stopped working. The brass cogs are bright and crisp as seen in the photos. All of the brass is thick in diameter which does indicate it's age. Pins hold the brass housing together. The weights& chain have been replaced but seem to be the right weight to run the clock and strike. Antique Mahogany 8 Day Grandfather Clock Made In England Circa 1840.
This is a very nice 8 day Grandfather clock circa 1860. lt has been fully restored the case and the mechanism. Its in working order, but l won`t sell it as working, because some times when you ship a clock it can disturb the movement. The Clock is attributed to William A Davies. This was actually in Wales not England a place called Cardigan, which has all the original paintwork on the face with his name and place. To the top there is a rocking ship that goes back and forward with the ticking of time. The clock strike`s loudly on the hour announcing the time through the house. We have the original pendulum, key and weights. lts a very impressive large grandfather clock and in very good condition. Antique J. Eastburn Chistian Huygens Walnut Tall Case Grandfather Clock
Unique Rare J. Eastburn Chistian Huygens Rope Drive Tall Case Walnut Clock c. 1700: Up for bidding we have a beautiful antique J. Eastburn tall case clock. Exquisite piece that I will try to describe as accurately as possible. Base. Trunk, and Hood: Outstanding condition. The case as a whole is made from walnut with the door formed from a solid piece of crotch walnut. The grain of the wood is very well preserved over the total case. Four columns frame the hood, which tops off in a classic broken bonnet style. The center finial I doubt is original, as it should be brass associated with time period.still not a glaring issue. Front glass does have a crack on the upper right side of the plain. Im pretty confident that the case was refinished professionally in the past. Works: Now here is where it gets really interesting. The face is made from ... moresolid brass with dark roman numerals on the dial. The name is J. Eastburn which is directly beneath the"VI" in the dial. The center of the dial is a simple painting of a snow covered landscape with a bunny sitting on the west side. On the bottom right are the initials"A.C.D.E" and the date March 26. 1700. I have done research on both the initials and name and came up empty handed. Under the saddleboard, the date of 1700, is carved or burnt in the wood. The brass works are in tact and are operated by a continous rope drive(the rope obviously is not original) Wood pulleys hold one lead weight and a smaller one made of wood. This type of drive is attributed to the inventor Christian Huygens(1629-1695) Overall a great piece of history that would complement almost any decor. Any questions or more pictures desired. Heres an antique wood movement probably made by Eli Terry who worked in Plymouth Conn in the early 1800's. The wood dial is in superb original condition and is a fantastic piece of folk art, the whimsical bird at the top of the dial has bright colors and the flowers in the corners are very charming, the dial is 12" wide and 16" tall. the movement is in great condition no broken gears or missing parts and runs and strikes when pressure is applied to the gears. The hands are original and in good condition, new weight cables have recently been installed. Antique American Tall Case / Grandfather Clock in Cherry c. 1815
Well. You may never find a more desirable early clock so you should consider this one. Here's the story; this clock has been sitting in a corner since 1963 and the movement is dusty but intact and runs/strikes properly when pressure is applied. The tin can weights are only half full with stones so some melted lead would take care of that. These 30 hour wood and brass movements are reliable when clean. The case is solid cherry. Never refinished in 200 years, original lock and key, original turned feet and finials, dovetailed bonnet, four delicate columns. It is likely Ohio or Pennsylvania. So. It looks to be 99% original. The brackets securing the dial to the seatboard are not original but functional. A lot of these clocks with convex dials did not have doors. I'm starting this relatively low. Here is an absolutely stunning AMERICAN TALL CASE CLOCK c 1830 in a mahogany case with BARLEY TWIST COLUMNS and carved corinthian caps. Sitting on delicate turned feet(original) This clock measures 100" to the top of the middle finial. The sender. Graceful form is typical of EASTERN U.S. CLOCKS and is likely NEW JERSEY. The dial is in original. Untouched condition showing one small paint loss. The dial and movement are original, on the original seatboard, and original to this case. The clock runs and strikes fine; the date(not uncommon) does not. I see one repair, to the trunk(see pics) All in all this is a classic SURVIVOR showing superior casework. Stunning old clock face. In good vintage condition. This would make a great wall piece, or a simple craft-store movement could be fitted and it could be a clock again. The case is also available. It is crafted of hardwoods and has fine marquetry designs on it. Also beautiful. Needs some work to repair, but very restorable. $200 for the case only, plus shipping. I have now included pictures of the case. Please be forewarned. It is in bad condition with all the joints loose, some marquetry missing, the lock and key gone, and the finish needing attention. That said. It is a fine handcrafted case from what looks like the mid-1800s. This is a Stunning Tall Joseph Richmond Grandfather Clock c1757-1829 Time& Date. From my research I believe Joseph Richmond of York made clocks from c1757-1829 and I believe this wonderful cock was made in the 1700s but I'm not 100% sure it is extremely old.This is a stunning case it has a fantastic burl wood on the lower part and a wonderful inlay trim. I believe the weight and pendulum are original but I think the chain has been replaced. The porcelain dial is still very nice a few areas of finish loss but over all it is still very beautiful. This clock is not perfect is has wear and some repairs over the years. The backboard has splits there old repair on the door and one on the upper edge of the hood. One piece in the center finial block or post is missing a but it could be removed and turned to the back. The one issue that confuses ... moreme is the second hand is not hooked to anything so it does not function. The clock runs and chimes and the date works also but the second hand is pretty much a decorative thing now. This is a very tall Grandfather Clock it stands 92" it is about 21" at widest point and it around 9 1/4" at deepest point. Here is a nice English tall case clock by George Slater and made 1841-1863 when Slater was in business in Burslem(Staffordshire) A professionally restored dial depicts. I suppose, King Lear. The oak case has a few small areas of veneer missing and is cross-banded with mahogany. It rests on turned feet and stands 95" tall. The movement has been cleaned and runs fine although the date gear is absent. The clock strikes on the hour on a cast iron bell. Shipping may be arranged at buyer's expense. Pickup is free. Antique 1920's or 1930's Art Deco Grandmother clock by noted German maker Embee. Approximate dimensions: 6' 5" H. 12" D, 23" W. The face is 10" across. All glass- which is deeply beveled on the bottom door and convex on the face- is original and perfect. Two weights. Five chimes, and all mechanicals appear to be in perfect condition with nothing bent, corroded or missing. Beautiful hand carved work from early 20th Century artisans and cabinetmakers in Germany's Black Forest region. Untested but appears to have all original parts present and in good shape. Waltham mantel style clock Electronic/ mechanical movement. The pendulum and housing is plastic and this clock has a real cool and loud"dong/ chime" at the top of the hour and half hour and it works keeping very good time. I believe they made these so that the average person could afford them. If this clock were to have the wood housing and only mechanical movement. It would have cost hundreds even back int he 60s and 70s when I assume this was made. The dial is signed"Waltham" and"made in the USA" I have had this plugged in for over a 24 hour period and the pendulum swings back and forth and as stated above it dongs at the top of the hour and half hour. The clock stands approximate 7’8” high-21' wide-9' deep. The trunk has a locking door with shaped top with bracket feet front bottom surrounded with flame mahogany borders. The swan neck hood has 3 brass finials. The fluted pillars have brass Corinthian caps and bottoms with a square door top. The Original hand-painted dial has Roman numerals with Arabic markers and steel hands There is the outer dial that is hand-painted with scenes depicting the 4 seasons. This is a very nice ORIGINAL mid to late 18th century English Provincial Grandfather Clock from famous clockmaker Hugh Pannell has been heavily researched by Dr David F Severs resulting in a book published in 1998 entitled Northallerton’s Clockmakers: Hugh Pannell and his Successors this book is now out of print. A second book containing further recently researched information on Northallerton and its clock makers and details of recently discovered clocks by this versatile maker including a photograph of this example is to be published shortly. It has carved oak case which is very elaborate and interesting. There is a carved face profile in the main door and it could be a famous person? Perhaps Oliver Cromwell? Or Columbus? It is an intrigue. Also in the base is a stylized carved face or what is sometimes referred to as a grotesque face. ... moreThe clock has slim lines with a nice long door and an original flat top with cornice molding. The original brass dial has a second bit and calendar. The calendar as well as the clock work perfectly. My clock repairman completely serviced this works including new cord. This clock has a unique feature about it that proves it was a hand made clock by the clock maker and not just ordered in as some of the London clocks of the period were. The calendar setup is unique in its design. Rather than the ring being in the center it is off to one side in back of the dial. I have a picture showing this clearly. I have never seen this arrangement before and neither has my clock repairman and he has been doing this for over 35 years! It is always nice to see innovative design on the part of an 18th century clock maker and I think it makes a clock much more desirable and collectible. It is not just another run of the mill brass dial grandfather works. Please look at the pictures. They will tell you everything. The clock sits on a flat molded base which is original. They are solid brass, good quality with nice patina. Eagle measures 3 1/2" high not including the mounting rod. It has a solid mounting rod. The two other ones measure 4 1/2" tall not including the mounting screws. These have screw mounts. Oak and mahogany. The case is well proportioned, with inlaid satinwood banding and fluted columns. The old finish has warm patina and is in very fine condition, with shrinkage separations and minor mars for antique character. There are touchups to the dial. Which appears to have its original hand painting with birds. The moon dial with a clipper ship also appears original, as there is no underpainting where there are chips. The dial is 10 3/4" wide 14" tall the seaboard is 13 1/2" wide. That was said to be around 50 years old at the time, was purchased by my father over 50 years ago now from a gentleman who had previously worked for his father to lay rails for a railroad line expanding west. This amazing piece of history is an antique. Circa 1900, Ansonia 30 day Mahogany Wall Clock. To my knowledge it has only been on display out of sunlight and at times in storage. I remember it working but don’t want to promise because for the last several years though it was displayed we didn’t wind it. It was recently placed in conditioned storage. The pendulum has been carefully removed for transport. It measures 32" long x 17" wide x 5" deep and all of the parts are there including ... morethe second hand and key. Please see the pictures for more description but a seasoned clock collector at one time said the veneer is simple to repair and the paper number’s face is easily replaced with one that looks antique but would not be torn. Bold and striking together…allowing the piece to complement and balance many furniture arrangements and styles. It looks equally at home with deep maple. Southport(It is signed on the brass dial) It features a 3 train movement that strikes every quarter hour on 8 nested bells. This is an 8 day clock. It has been recently serviced and works great. You have a choice of 2 different chiming sequences selected with a switch on the side of the dial. There is also a silent switch on the other side of the dial. This clock is 90 inches tall(7.5 feet) and is 25.5 inches wide at the widest point. The front door of the clock has some damage to the edge. There are cracks in the wood sides of the bonnet on both sides. The top center finial is a wooden replacement. A couple of the brass ends are missing from the columns in the bonnet.
