Old Antique Marble Brass & Bronze French Empire Portico Clock with Eagle
Here is a Old Antique Marble. Brass& Bronze French Empire Portico Clock with Eagle on top, c.1900. This will need some work by a professional. The time advances too fast(10 minutes= 30) The bell strikes every 1/2 hour, but this also needs to be adjusted to the correct number of strikes. The enamel face has chips around the winding holes. There is one chip in the marble, at the bottom front of the base. The two back feet corroded somehow, however, they are still adjustable for leveling. I do not have a winding key for this, and I used a 5mm socket for winding. Even with these flaws, it is still a beautiful timepiece for display. It measures 8 1/2" across at the base and approximately 15 3/4" tall. It is in good overall condition. Please view all of the photos carefully before bidding. Beautiful Little Hand-Painted Antique Mantel Clock - French Movement
We have a beautiful little hand-painted mantel clock for sale. It measures approximately 5½" 14cm) high. Just over 5" 13cm) wide and about 3¼" 8cm) deep. All we really know about it is it has'Made in France' and the number'45203' over the number'8' stamped into the brass back of the movement. But we've no clue as to where the casing was made. It has a gold face with black markers and Arabic numerals. The brass ring around the face measures just under 4" 10cm) in diameter- the glass. Although complete and undamaged, is a little loose. The highly decorative wooden casing has been hand-painted with colourful scenes(Arabic of Japanese? We're unsure) and although we've not attempted to clean it in any way. The colours are still good. With a proper clean, it would no doubt look even ... morebetter. The French movement runs strongly and we've had it running since acquiring it yesterday and this morning it was still running happily.and keeping good time. As we're no experts in these things. We're having to sell it on an'as seen' basis, purely as we have no idea if and when it was last serviced. We do however guarantee that it's a'runner' although it may require some adjustment after the journey. We will of course make sure that it's fully wound down. And that all moving parts are secured. Antique French Japy Freres Mantel Clock, Unusual Movement
This is a early c. 1880 Japy Freres Mantel Clock with a rather unusual Square Movement. I have seen a lot of Japy Freres clocks but never have seen this Square Movement all I have ever seen are Japy Freres round movements. It is signed on the movement and the bracket with the Japy Freres makers mark it is also numbered and has Made in Franche which is hard to read but looks like it has an E on the end. It has two sets of numbers one is 4351 the other looks like 7810. It has a really nice 4" porcelain dial just a small bit of roughness around the center hole for the hands. It has a unique and heavy brass pendulum with a cross bar connector. This is a running clock it run well and chimes on the hour and the half hour. The movement needs to be removed for shipping so it will need to be readjusted on your end you will need to line the hammer ... moreto the gong the movement is adjustable on the bracket. I'm not quite sure what wood this is I'm guess maybe rosewood but I'm not good with wood. It has it's fantastic original glass that has wonderful angels with wings. The case is old but it is still in very nice condition and I believe the key may also be the original key. The clock stands 20 1/2" it's 10" wide measured across the bottom 6 1/4" deep and it weighs 6.4.5 pounds. I do not think you will be disappointed with this very different Japy Freres Mantel Clock it is a very interesting clock and has a great look. Thank you for your interest! Geneva, what makes this clock rare is that it uses a watch type quarter repeater mechanism under the dial. Lever type platform escapement. Movement runs. Repeater mechanism operates. Elegant Antique French Carriage Clock - Solid Brass, Beveled Glass
I inherited this clock from my parents who purchased it when we lived in Europe in the 60's. The clock has an 8 day movement that is in excellent working order and includes the winding and adjustment key. Although I do not believe it to be original. The movement only loses about 2 minutes over a one week period. Of course after shipping, you will probably need to re-adjust. From what I have been able to research. This clock was manufactured by the well-respected Couaillet Frères of Saint-Nicolas d'Aliermont, near Dieppe in the late 1890s to the early 1900s. I lean towards this clock being manfactures pre-1900. Note the distinctive Couaillet arrow with four dots on the tail of the arrrow which can be seen just above the hand adjustment arbor. These dots are believed to represent the four Couaillet brothers- Armand. Ernest, Henri ... moreand Gustave. The only other marks that I could find on this clock was the number"069" stamped on the inside of the rear door. This is a lovely timepiece with a real mercury pendulum and chiming movement. And it works! Time and striking/chime. This clock was made in France by Japes Freres as noted on the emblem impressed onto the back of the movement. My research of the movement stamp it may be as early as circa 1855. Although the stamp is not completely clear. Or it could be as late as circa 1890s. Founded in 1806. In Beaucourt, France by Edouard Frederic Japy and his 3 sons. The sons introduced different markings and stamps on movements for dates and production awards they received. Hence the changing stamps/hallmarks on their clocks. Japy Freres means.Japy Brothers" They made clocks and watches until 1930. ... moreThe clock's case has a good patina. There is some finish loss. But the clock case still looks good. I did not polish or try to clean it. See all pics. For more details. The beveled glass on all four sides is still intact. Not cracked, chipped or cloudy. It has 2 doors that latch securely. The clock has a nice white enameled dial. The enamel face has no cracks. The face and movement are firmly attached to the case by the mounting blocks. The hands and the delicate numbers are black and Arabic numerals. The clock will come with a newer winding key. The clock is in good running condition. This is a large and beautiful French Boulle Marquetry wall clock in very fine condition. It is of a higher and finer quality and has a 14 day time and strike movement striking on a coil gong. The dial is alabaster and measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter; the numerals are large porcelain and rest in solid brass trim plates of which all are bright polished and lacquered. The back panel and case are brass inlay in red tortoise shell separated by a very fine and decorative brass casting of which all is polished and lacquered. The dial bezel is also a very fine and decorative brass casting. The hands are original brass. Polished and lacquered. The height of the case is 26 1/4 inches, the width from side to side at the points is 25 1/4 inhes; the diameter at the hex sides is 22 1/4 inches. It is beautifully modelled in the Rococo style in gilt brass. The elaborate asymmetric case is typical of the Rococo style from the reign of Louis XV and features flowing scrolls of foliage and floral swags. A large finial to the top and acanthus leaves applied to the shoulders. The front is delicately fretted to lighten the design and allow a glimpse of the pendulum gently swinging inside the case. Candelabra have four delicate branches sitting upon urns. The beautiful enamel dial is a delicate shade of cream. Lettered with a separate minute ring and complete with delicately fretted gilt brass hands. It is covered by original convex glass mounted in a Rococo bezel. The French movement ... moreis of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. You are buying a beautiful three piece mantle clock set. Clock with artist signed bronze statuary and two candelabras. The movement on the clock is marked with and A B in between the A B is a six pointed star and I think 8 Fils under that. Picture#6 shows the maker mark Paris. The top of the mark is Horloges which was a street in Paris, Breguet shop was at 51 quai de l'Horloge. It is marked with serial#652 down at the bottom it has a 3 and a 7. The Bronze is"Abeille" it is marked J Causse who worked between 1890& 1914. The face is hand painted and marked Jolivet& Grenoble artist& town of manufacturer maybe? I am not sure about that. The bases of all three pieces is marble. The clock works and there are no flaws other than normal wear with age. The face has a removeable gilt rim crystal dome 2 3/4" diameter The clock has beautiful bas relief work on four sides and with the bail is 4 1/4" tall; 2 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" deep. Antique Henry II French Gallery Wall Clock Barometer Thermometer Weather Station
This late 1800s turned and carved wood wall clock measures 33” overall x 13” wide x 4 ¾” deep and has a 7” diameter dial; 3 ¼” diameter barometer and a 5” thermometer. It retains its original raised porcelain on copper numerals and has its original key and pendulum. The top is graced by a delicate spindle gallery and the lower portion of the case is intricately hand carved with crisp moldings framing the dial. Thermometer and aneroid barometer. It will run for an hour or so, and then stops, so it will require cleaning and regulating. The surface is original and dry, with signs of wear, but no important losses to the wood. Superb French Feuillet Parian Porcelain and Bronze 19th Century Clock(Timepiece) Garniture in Outstanding Condition Outstanding garniture set by a very famous porcelain factory Feuillet. Pieces are stamped with the Feuillet mark of'F' inside the scroll. Parian is decorated with bronze accents of finest casting quality. There is a little dial damage and repair around the winding arbor. There are also a few very small losses to the parian porcelain. Also, part of the bronze scroll is missing on the left candelabra. Other than this, I see no problems or damage whatsoever. The condition of this clock is superb in all respects. This clock is time only(no strike) it runs perfectly and its high quality, balance escapement movement is in outstandingly clean condition. This is a very elegant, ornate and highly detailed set. Antique French Tic Tac Farcot Style Mantel Clock MOVEMENT ONLY w/ Bell REPAIR NR
From a clock repairman's estate comes this antique French time only"tic-tac" style movement; which means the pendulum rod is attached directly to the anchor arbor with no suspension spring. The steel pallets thus impulse the pendulum directly from the escape wheel with no indirect device such a crutch being needed. The pendulum'rod' is broken where there is a solder repair that has failed. Bob is included. Both mainsprings are good and hold a full wind; there is a solder repair to the strike side click spring that is functional and also a solder repair to the steel strike count wheel arm. The movement appears to be functional. Only lacking the pendulum repair; the strike gears are all turning. But it is NOT working properly; it jumps over some of the stops, striking to many times. The rear brass is stamped"MEDAILLE ... moreDE BRONZE. FOT BREVETE" with an eagle atop the circle and a'club' as in a suit in playing cards. The serial number is 40922. The steel bell has a nice resonance to the sound. The overall diameter of the front brass plate is 3.37" The distance between the plates is 1.22" and the total depth of the movement is 2.79" NO key. Mark on the movement Japy Freres. Movement running strongly 24 hours a day but only problem is, the hands don't move. I do not know why, I'm not clock repairman. French Cartel Clock. C. 1870. The piece is made of solid gilded bronze, and weighs about 30 lbs. The piece is likely non-functional, and I have no key or pendulum. The exterioenr of complete, with an even patina throughout. There are light cracks to the enamel dial, and much of the paint within the numerals has worn off. There is a small chip to the beveled glass plate covering the face in the extreme perimeter. It is hard to detect. There is wear to the back plate, but nothing significant. Large Antique French Brass Clock by Samuel Marti ~ French- Circa 1880 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A large Baroque clock of excellent quality by the famous maker Samuel Marti. It is beautifully made of brass with hairy paw feet. An armorial bearing to the front with Lions Rampant and mythical creatures to the sides. The front has sound frets backed with red velvet that also help to lighten the design. To the top is a large and elaborate urn with mythical creatures as the handles. The large and impressive dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and blued steel hands. The French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the maker's mark on the backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in superb clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. The case is not broken, nor has it been repaired- The gold wash finish has worn away in a few areas where the clock was over polished many years ago. It has a wonderful old patina now, which I have not disturbed. All I did was to blow the dust off. There is a service date of 1980 on the back cover-that was the last time the clock was serviced/cleaned. The clock has no issues, with the exception that if you wind it up to much, the dial/movement will move& you have to recenter the dial in order for it to work-not a big deal if you know in advance. It has at least an eight day movement(as far as I know) I ran it for a few days and it keeps perfect time and the bell sounds sweet.
