Country French 1860 Antique Carved Oak Tall Long Case Grandfather Clock. An authentic Country French long or tall case"grandfather" clock dates from about 1860 and has a wonderful hand carved solid oak case. The"Morbier" design one week movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled. It keeps excellent time and strikes the hour. The hand painted porcelain dial has crackling or crazing at the edges for antique character. See photos. A courting couple, the gentleman playing a flute, adorn the embossed brass surround. The brass pendulum is original on this antique furniture from central France. Beautiful traditional hand carved details on the case include raised panels and carved wooden pegs at the joints. The old finish is wonderfully preserved. Waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth will maintain ... moreits warm patina. Doors have old wavy glass and brass knobs. Side doors afford access to the brass movement. There are shrinkage separations and worm holes for character. For easier moving. The"hood" or top section is removable. The winding crank is a modern replacement Measurements of this charming furniture case are 21" wide. 13" deep and 97" tall. This clock needs to be"set up" when delivered- weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. Antique Country French Cherry Longcase Clock c1790 Tall Case Grandfather Morbier
Wonderful Country French Longcase Clock fron the French Jura THE CASE: The solid cherry Country French case uses mortise and tenon joints held with visible wooden trennels and has lovely inlays done in a rustic manner. Various designs of inlay are used including checker. Herringbone, diamond pattern, and rosettes. Below the trunk door is what appears to be the inlaid initial"B" Perhaps a hint at the identity of the original owner. There is a glass bulls-eye aperature in the trunk door allowing one to see the slow motion of the brass pendulum and to serve as a reminder to wind the clock when the weights appear there. The use of sunken panels and carved fluting are other elements of sophistication found on this delightful rural timepiece. MOVEMENT: The 8 day weight driven posted frame movement has original verge and crown wheel escapement ... morewith long fold-up pendulum and a brass capped bob. The clock strikes the hours and 2 minutes after in the manner called prayer clock striking. It also strikes once at the halves. These clocks are from the Franche-Comte and are often referred to as Comtoise. Morbier, Morez clocks or simply French prayer clocks. DIAL: The clock has a convex enamel dial which is signed below the 6 by the clockmaker Navand. The beautiful original cast brass dial surround is interesting in that the portrait of the King Louis XVI in a shield above the 12 has been removed during the French Revolution(some time around 1792) indicating the clock was made prior than that. Antique Mantel Clock This auction is for a really nice and very well made antique. 1800s shelf or mantel clock. The clock has the original porcelain dial that’s marked Raingo Frerea Aaria, which is a famous French clockmaker. The dial does have some hairline crow’s feet. The case is made of very heavy solid brass and on the front it has a neat image of a cherub in a chariot and griffons at the very bottom. All four sides have thick beveled glass panels and the front and back door open. The clock movement has been replaced by a battery movement but otherwise the clock is old and original– probably from around the 1870s. The case is in excellent condition but there is some chipping to the glass. Measures about 13¼" tall and guaranteed as described! Great piece! For auction is this beautiful Antique Japy Freres French Mantle Clock. The base is White Marble Onyx. This clock depicts a classical figure. A gentleman in period dress with a mandolin. The clock itself is set in a gilt case with a white porcelain dial. The base has lovely decorations with swag chains and patterns. It is very heavy. The movement is stamped"Japy Freres& Cie Grd Med. D'Honneur" means it(the movement) was made some time after the company(Japy Freres/Japy Brothers) won the Grand Medal of Honor(which they did at the Paris exhibition in 1855) they also won a medal in 1867. It shows they were awarded a medal at the 1855 Paris Exposition. It means that Japy Freres won an award in 1855 allowing them to display the award on their movements until the time a nother award might be won at a future exposition. Such as ... morethe 1867 Paris Exposition. I cannot see any date on the stamp. The movement also has the number 5488 stamped on it. I got this at an Estate Auction. It did not come with the key but has the bell and pendulum. I started the pendulum and the clock ran for about 30 minutes. For auction is a large sized French garniture clock set. C. 1886. The clock body is made of finely cut green onyx, and adorned with a lovely cast metal sculpture entitled"Esmerelda" par(by) H. Moreau(Hippolite Moreau) It depicts a beautiful woman in the Art Nouveau style with a goat and tambourine, and bears the French foundry mark of"Aug Moreau" on the side. The two garniture urns have matching green onyx bases and are signed"F Moreau" All the sculptures are made of spelter with hand painted accents and a patinated bronze finish. The fine French movement is by A. D. Mougin. The year of manufacture(1886) and the makers hallmark are stamped on the backplate. This movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by a professional clockmaker. It runs for 8 ... moredays and strikes the hours and halves softly on a bell. This is a very quiet movement(no loud ticking sounds) with a soft subtle chime. Pendulum and key are included. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks that I can detect. This dial is the most sought after cream enamel with black lettering and separate minute ring. It has blued steel hands and convex beveled glass fitted to a beaded. Hinged brass bezel. PFISTER" and"Toulouse" are printed on the dial. I believe this was the store and location in 1886 France where this clock set was originally sold. The clock stands 29-1/4" tall. 15" wide 8" deep at the base. It weighs 33 lbs. Antique French Silk Thread Grande Sonnerie Spring Driven Mantle Clock Movement
This is an ANTIQUE grande sonnerie clock movement. This movement is quite early as it has a silk thread suspension spring. The movement is in good condition and appears to be complete with the dial. Dial bezel, hands, and gongs. The movement is a spring driven movement for mantle clocks, which is very very rare. The movement likely dates to around the mid 1800's, but I cannot say for sure. A very hard to find part, the clock was ticking, and all mainsprings appear to be good. But as I cannot test it to be sure it is sold As-Is and will defiantly need a good cleaning. This movement was purchases among several other rare movements from a clock collectors estate, the others will be listed in my other items as well. The dial appears to have been repainted at some point.

It looks to be guilded in gold on the side pieces with the figures and the remainder of the may be as well with some light wear on the base in spots. Overall very good condition. It is very heavy weighing almost 17lbs it measures 13" tall. 11" wide. It ticks and the hands move the bell rings at:30 and 12 every hour. It is keeping time fast may need to be adjusted. A very finely cast antique. Circa 1850's, French bronze statue mantel clock. The front and sides are ormolu finish, with red, blue, and green, enamel accents on flowers and diaperwork. The statue is of a sultana, the base in Moorish Revival taste. The clock runs for a short time and stops, reason unknown. Clock sold"as found" Included is a gilted lead weight pendulum, no key included. The dial is olive-brown color metal with orange enamel numerals. It measures 19" tall by 14-1/4" wide by 4-3/4" deep. Case is excellent condition: original finish(slight gilt wear on her neck and breasts) no dents or breaks. Polychrome accents are slightly worn. Her left hand is missing an object.

Exceptional and substantial antique circa 1900 French marble or Belgian slate mantle clock in wonderful condition. The dial is a beautiful navy blue porcelain numeral chapter ring with gold roman numerals and spade hands.The jeweled pallets on the open escapement is set in a nice engine turned dial center area. The top of the clock has four brass finials which makes for great ornamentation to supplement the gold highlighted etching on the top and bottom front. The case is a deep shiny black and not worn like some of the case you might see of this age. The clock has the traditional eight day movement with bell strike. French Japy Freres Crystal Regulator Antique Clock very RARE (Ansonia)
Antique crystal regulator made by Japy Freres very RARE. This fine clock runs and keeps perfect time. The porcelain face has a hairline at 8 and the brass winding ring is missing at 4. The beautiful brass case is like the Ansonia Lucia as found on page 122 of book by tran. This clock comes from an estate from clearwater near Tampa.
