Up for auction is this beautiful antique picture frame with the original bubble glass. Inside the frame is a tinted photo of a young girl. And her kitten. I believe this to be an original photograph that was hand-tinted. This was a very common practice prior to the invention of color film. The frame itself is quite unique. It has gesso floral decorations on all corners. Overall, it measures18 1/4" by 12-1/4" with the actual picture area measuring 16" by 10" The frame is composed of 8 wooden sections and comes complete with a wire for hanging. Outer measurements of the frame are just over 9 ½ inches by just over 12 ½ inches. Frame opening is 9 inches by just less 12 inches. The frame contains an old black and white print– maybe an illustration cut from an old Victorian book or periodical. Subject is nice– a woman seated on a bench with 2 dogs. Introducing them to a larger dog. The smaller front dog looks perplexed! Condition of the illustration is good– no stains. No discolorations. Frame has original gold tone on the carved edges– a good contrast to the black and white illustration. The finish is in good condition and no pieces of the carving are missing on the front– there are a few small spaces that show on the back at the corners. ... moreBut do not show from the front. Antique Pickle Castor Yellow Quilted Satin Glass Silverplate Frame Lid Tongs
My parents collected antique art glass(among other things) in the 1960's- 70's& this is from their collection. The glass part is screaming yellow quilted cased satin glass; no maker's mark but it has the pontil on the bottom so it was hand blown. The inside is white satin glass; the outside is a the yellow that is lighter at the bottom going to darker as it gets higher. There's an impressed quilted pattern plus the quilt pattern is made the colors in the glass(hard to explain& hope you can see what I mean in my pics) It's a fine piece of victorian glass. It measures 4 3/4" tall; 3 1/8" across the top& 2 5/8" across the bottom. The glass has no chips. Breaks or other damage. There are a few small dark spots where the silver of the frame has touched to glass. The lid has no marks on it- it fits ... moreperfectly. The tongs are also unmarked and are 6 5/8" long. The frame is 11 1/2" tall. It has 4 round ball feet. There's a place to hang the tongs. The frame is stamped Wilcox Silver Plate Co. 4696 Quadruple Plate. The ring that holds the glass in may have been repaired at some time; or it may have been put together that way originally. I cannot tell. I am not an expert of art. But, I would date this print and frame to the late 19th or perhaps the early 20th century. The frame is lovely with deep well effect. There is one area on the bottom where some of the gold has chipped off, very small and hard to see as someone tried to cover it. This could easily be repaired and covered. The original back has been replaced. The print is lovely of a little bright eyed girl in what appears to be Victorian dress and hat. Overall measures 25 1/2" tall by 19 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. New Jersey from the State Atlas of New Jersey, published by Beers, Comstock, and Cline, 1872. The hand colored map is in good condition for its age with some light age yellowing, and a couple of edge tears at the fold. It has been backed with an acid free black matte and the map paper measures about 15 1/2 by 24 3/4 inches, overall. The frame includes its original old wavy glass. Large antique oak picture frame from the Victorian era(late1800s) The frame has an ornamental leaf design in the center made of gesso. The frame fits an approx 15 5/8 x 29 1/8 inch print or painting. Its exterior dimensions are approx 21 x 34 1/2 inches and it is 1 inch high. This frame has been restored including refinishing of the oak and is in very good condition. It still has the dings. Antique vintage 1920s 1930s era ART DECO silver & black picture frame w/ cupid
For your consideration is this antique Art Deco silver and black frame with a black and white sketch of a cupid. The frame is metal and the"matting" that one sees that is black and silver is painted. I have not attempted to open the back of the frame not wanting to disturb anything inside. The frame itself measures 6" X 8" and the inside measurement for the photo that would show is 3.5 X 5.5 inches. The frame and the paint are in excellent condition with the exception of an extremely small divet in the upper right hand corner of the frame itslef which I have attempted to photograph in the third photo. This old frame is 27x24 outside. Inside is 17x1 4. Solid wood backing with nail s. It has very minimal damage. the 2 white spots are the worst a nd they aren't much. They first cou ld just be touched with paint. The other would need a dab of gesso. Glass is go od. Very nice frame. Please check the other items in my store.
