The Psalm of Communal Lament" We are very please to be able to ... moreoffer for your consideration this professionally tab mounted and framed 17th Century vellum of Psalm 44 The calligraphy on this vellum is hand penned. Our expert tells us it was most likely taken from a privately owned, and or, commissioned book of Psalms. We believe this because it is without illumination, and markings for musical notations. It is beautifully mounted on a fabric back board with corner tab mounts. The vellum is scribed in Latin, on both sides, or recto inverso. Shadows of the letters on the reverse side can be faintly seen through the text of the front. From the look of the font style, the peculiar punctuation, and the vellum used, our expert dates it to the 17th century. The passage is a portion of Psalm 44, or the Psalm of Communal Lament. According to our Latin translator it is verses 9 through 13. In these verses, the Psalmist laments that God has been slow to act, and has a responsibility to save these people from their enemies. The frame measures 23 1/8 inches wide. By 30 1/2 inches tall, by 1 5/8 inches deep. The frame is nice and deep, providing adequate space to accommodate the ripples in the vellum. The frame is finished in a dark brown stain, and is distressed. The back is covered in heavy brown paper with sealed edges. This piece weighs approximately 8 pounds. Condition- This framed antique framed vellum is in wonderful condition. There are no visible flaws that we can see. Description You are considering a lovely antique lava stone cameo brooch. 1" in height. The classically beautiful woman is nicely detailed. High relief profile, also. No chips. Probably needs cleaning, but I do not know what to clean with and do not want to damage it. I believe the setting to be real gold or at least gold filled, but it is not marked. There is a patent number of 2066969 on the safety catch on the back. Lovely little piece of antiquity! Frame has 57 blue mixt cut sapphires sizes 1mm-4mm. 22 small old rose cut diamonds size 1mm, 29 red rubies sizes 1mm-3mm, 4 oval cut amethyst sizes 7 x 5 mm(2) and 9 x 6 mm(2) In the middle is a big 17 x 10 mm oval cut pink sapphire. On the top on tumb piece is yellow garnet? size 7 x 5 mm. Purse measures 9" x 12" and the lenght of the frame is 5 3/4" and 1 1/3" at its widest. Lock close firmly. You can wear it but there are striations on the back side upper right coming downward viewing from the back. See pic, one deep crack and part can be seen on the front if you look for it. Large Embroidered& Tinted Flapper Lady Framed This is a gorgeous example of textile art. Embroidered and tinted. The image conveys a hot afternoon: a sultry blonde leans out of a window with a cigarette in a long holder in one hand, and a large feather fan in the other. This lovely flapper-era lady's hair is styled in the"wave" popular in the 1920s and 30s, and her cheek is lit with a pink blush. She wears a dark gray green or teal sleeveless dress. Beneath the window is a brick wall, and at each of the corners are stylized flowers and leaves.
