FINELY CAST ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD BRONZE EAGLE on BRANCH
I would think this superb bronze eagle on a branch was made in Japan during the Meiji period(1868– 1911) Certainly, the fine quality of the casting is typical of the Meiji craftsmen. See photos below. It was cast in sections(separate wings, monkey,etc.and then assembled, resulting in a very naturalistic pose both of the eagle and the fleeing monkey. There is some light rubbing in places but no damage that I can detect. The model stands 9 inches high and 8.75 inches wide. This is a genuine hot cast bronze. NOT bronze resin. Antique 19th Century Bronze Figural Ink Well
Beautiful decorative Dutch figural ink well in near perfect condition. It weights over 2 pounds and is 4" high by 5" around. The bottle has a brass hinge in good working order and the cut crystal bottle has no cracks. This is a very nice old piece. I can't date it but can say it was my great great grandmothers and i'm 52 years old so it has to be at least middle 1800's.

2 Fabulous Antique Bronze Wall Sconces w/Cherubs-13" - 10 lbs. ea.
Description These are two antique bronze wall sconces with cherubs. They are not exactly the same. The cherubs are sitting on a scalloped base with leaves on one and leaves and a bird on the other. Please check the pictures to see all the differences. The two arms are a darker bronze. I don't know if they are original to the pieces or were added. I purchased them at an estate sale on the north shore of Long Island. Each measures 13" wide and 12" tall. They have been rewired and are in working condition but as with any electrical item they should be checked before installation as wires or screws can loosen during shipping. DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT BELIEVE IT'S VERY OLD! LARGE VASE OR POT ARCHAIC URN VESSEL RITUAL BURIAL POT VASE BRONZE COPPER BRASS BUDDHA INDIAN? Smiling woman with long braided hair holding up her dress or gown. Possibly to show the colorful beauty or maybe she's curtseying, just don't know. I looked online for what this might be and I have no clue-can't find it anywhere. The old ladies home this came out of was said to have picked this up many years ago from a local Odd Fellows Rebeka's Hall. If that's accurate and it was used in the rituals or somehow was part of this order. That could put it any time after mid 1800's, though I think it could be older. I have no reason to believe that this is some kind of reproduction. I think it's bronze, a magnet does not stick to it and when you knock on it, it sounds ... morelike metal. It looks like pottery or cement, but doesn't sound like it and the walls are not thin, but not thick enough too be as sturdy as it is if it was made of pottery. I just know what material it is for sure. If it was pottery of some type, you would think it would have chipped by now and there are no chips. The patina that appears is rough, green& brown and resembles a growth like rust. When you look down inside, you can see a layer of something along the bottom, maybe just dirt or some kind of residue build-up and this build-up material is cracked in 2 places long ways across but the cracks are not in the bottom of the vessel. While searching the internet, I found these words that had some image or something associated with elements that slightly resembled parts of this item: Tibet. KWAN YIN. DUNHUANG FAIRY, HAN DYNASTY, CHINESE ART, MING, Gautama Buddha. Shakyamuni. SIDDHARTHA. Avalokitesvara. Boddhisatva. Wine Pot? Measures 20 inches high. 17 inches across widest part(her mid section) around 7 inches inside pot at widest point front to back and the mouth inside diameter is 3 inches. this is an exquisite antique 19th century bronze dog compote. It can be used as a large ashtray as well. it is beautifully footed with solid bronze ornate claw feet and marked"England" on the bottom of one of the feet. the dish is shaped like a bowl and has a dimensional solid bronze dog in the center. there is lettering on the bottom of the dog stating"Alsatian-Wolfdog" the piece measures 8 inches in diameter. it has a wonderful patina from age and is a nice early piece. minimal ware. Antique VICTORIAN WHITBY JET, SILVER & BRONZE CRUCIFIX CROSS Large 4"
ITEM On offer we have this amazing antique 19th/ 20th century crucifix cross necklace pendant. The cross is over 4" high and heavy which leads us to believe that it is bronze inlaid with Whitby Jet. Or perhaps bog oak. The weight of the item makes it impossible to ascertain if the jet inlay is light in weight. However the black inlay was carefully tested to gain a'streak' result, which was dark brown/ black. There is also a slight'grain' evident which rules out glass, vulcanite etc. and is consistent with unpolished jet or bog oak, though bog oak would tend to be lighter in colour. We were unable to find any marks on the detailed figure of Christ but the metal has tested positive for silver. A rare and collectable antique crucifix. Materials: Bronze. ANTIQUE MARBLE CLOCK 1860'S JAPY FRERES GREGOIRE BRONZE SCULPTURE TERPSICHORE
Up for auction is a wonderful 1860's marble clock with a signed bronze statue. 1. The clock was made for Bailey& Company. The predecessor to Bailey, Banks and Biddle. They were in business using that name from 1841-1878. 2. The clock movement is a Japy Freres and is stamped with the 1855 Grand Medal of Honour from the Paris exposition. The next medal that they were awarded was in 1867. 3. The bronze sculpture is signed Gregoire on the base. Jean Louis Gregoire live from 1840-1890. Based on these three facts, I can safely date the clock to the 1860's. The clock is in very good condition and the movement is working. The glass on both the front and back is heavy and beveled. The sculpture of Terpsichore looks to have the tip of her instrument in her left hand broken off. Otherwise, the sculpture is complete and free of damage. This is a very heavy box, beautifully decorated with Cherubs, flowers and vines, I have noticed no damage, other than the lock not working, needs to be properly cleaned and the bottom lining seems to be skewed to the left too much, but will not budge for me to fix it. ANTIQUE / VINTAGE PAIR OF BRONZE BRASS 2 LIGHT ART DECO WALL SCONCES
For your bidding is a gorgeous pair of Art Deco 2 Light wall sconces. The backs which are 7" in diameter are brass grating with a brass plate in the back that has been painted white. Each sconce has two lights/candles that are 6 1/2" tall with the original sleeves and pull changes to turn on and off(all working) The total length of each sconce is 9 1/2" The arms of the lights have swirled detailed designs and reach out 6 1/2" from the wall. The back plates of the sconces are held on by three nuts. There is a metal bar in which to hang them. They have the original wiring which looks to be in good condition. All parts are originals. There is a small amount of paint residue from years of remodels around the back edge of the lights that can easily be removed. A Chinese Bronze Wiseman Ming Empire Dynasty Emperor Statue Old Antique
I acquired this very old and antique item from a community type of yard sale. Fund raising event. At the time of purchase no one could tell me anything about it. I posted its picture on a social type of website and got just a little information from the public, so I really don't know anything about it, and can only tell you what one person told me. This one person, who happened to be my a relative, on a social site, had friends in other parts of the country who told my relative, and my relative told me that this item is: from or out of the Ming Dynasty. It is a Ming emperor dynasty statue. He also said that this statue is, Taizu of the Oing 1616-1626 who founded the later Jin Dynasty, the predecessor of the Oing(1644-1011) that would eventually conquer the Ming Empire. I am sorry to report that all I really know about this item is what ... moremy brother found out from long distance friends, and I personally, don't know anything about this item. Size: This item is about 10 3/4 inches tall and approximately 3 3/4 inches wide at the widest part. Material: I am sorry, but I am not sure what this is made out of. I first thought it was some type of metal. A magnet won't stick to it. It resembles cast iron, and may be cast iron. Another possiblity is that it could be some type of glass or ceramic, and once again, I am sorry, but I really am not sure what it is made of. It could be bronze. I thought about breaking it to see if it would break like glass, but came to the conclusion that that is not a good idea. This item weighs 1 8/10ths of a pound. It says something at the bottom as you can see in the picture, but the only writing I am able to read is American. This item will come in the box pictured. ANTIQUE MANTLE CLOCK WITH LADY. This is a used antique lady mantle clock with the original mechanism. The lady might be something like Baroque French. I don't know if it works because I have no key. I don't know if the mechanism is complete and works. But it looks like it might be. It has a nice brass/bronze-type patina but I don't know for sure what the base metal is and/or if it is plated. Some cosmetic parts(including the glass) on the front are missing. The piece is about 9.5" tall. About 3" deep at base, and the front facade is about 7" wide.
