Antique Odd Fellows Paper Mache Skeleton Bust in Half Coffin Late 1800's Folkart
Late 1800's Odd Fellows Skeleton Bust in a Half Coffin Skeleton is Paper Mache. Wood and Hand Painted Condition is very good. There is some wax on the head of the skeleton and some cracking around the neck(see photo) The nose has a little rubbing but is not bad and it may have just been some extra paint/composition rather than rubbing. The Coffin is in nice condition with expected wear. The interior is lightly soiled and discolored but fits the mood of the piece. The fabric is tacked in and there are loose areas. The paper used to stuff the pillow is from 1887 and that would make it 125 years old. Bust measures 18" tall. Coffin is 32" long x 14' wide x 10' in tall. I have not been able to find a Skeleton bust with a original half coffin anywhere. There are a few busts out there but none with a half coffin. It is a great ... morepiece of Americana and Odd Fellows History. It also would fit nicely in any Halloween or Day of the Dead collection Please feel free to ask questions.

Up for auction is this antique/vintage brass mini mortar& pestle(I'm pretty sure it's brass; I'm by no means a metallurgist. However) Please view the pictures and read below for details on the condition of the item. The mortar is about 1 inch tall and about 1& 1/8 inch in diameter at the mouth. The pestle is about 1& 1/2 inches long. As you can see in the pictures, the mortar and pestle have a pretty dark and even tarnish to them. You can also see that they are discolored in many places and the surface of both bear many scratches, dings, stains, marks, and signs of wear. I have not seen another like it and if there is a a fellow Ebayer out there who can shed some light I would be happy to hear from you. As I mention I believe it to be brass and is the best compact little burner/ stove I have ever seen or encountered. It appears to be engineered by a designer from a bygone era. It is very ergonomic and compact possibly used by a soldier during the last half of the 19th century as the registered date. Though not manufactured date is 1877. It would be small enough to carry easily and with fuel would ... moreheat small beverages and amounts of food probably keeping the enemy at bay as its flame signature would be small. It closes firmly and when opened sits on six round feet keeping it off the surface along with three metal prongs that open up to allow one to rest a small pot or plate for heating after pouring fuel on what appears to be a soaking mesh metal base. It does have some wear throughout consistent with age and use along with some small dents mainly on the outer edges of the top. The outer lower edge has a small dent also though the top as aforementioned closes firmly into place. There is also some evidence of patina on the piece. The soaking metal mesh has an area which is shown in the photographs that is worn through where it appears the heat was at its hottest. The hinges that open and hold in place at an angle have some rust also shown in the photographs. Please review the photographs carefully as they are also part of the description. These detailed descriptions certainly do not detract from the general aesthetics or functionality and are only meentioned for accuracy. For sale is a Antique North Carolina Earthenware Moonshine Jug circa 1870. The jug was found in a hand hewn log barn by the owner who said the barn was built in the 1860's. The jug was under the floor in a space between the rock foundation. It is possible that it was put there after the barn was built. The jug is about 9.75" tall and 7" in diameter. The jug has something in it and even though I have washed it out there is still something inside. It is possible that a bird or other animal had made a nest inside. It is very heavy weighing over seven pounds. The way the jug is made confirms it's early creation. The glaze is glass and salt which confirms the approximate age of 1850-1880. The jug is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. Please examine the photos carefully. This auction is for an antique child’s quadruple silver plated cup by Meriden. Numbered 856 that was obtained from a collector’s estate sale. The cup bears the name‘Willie B. Day’ and is also engraved with a design of ornate flowers and hammered leaves. This cup predates 1889. When the Meriden Silver Plate company became part of the International Silver Company; the Meriden Silver Plate company was organized in 1869 by Charles Casper and was located in Meriden, CT. The piece has the original patina. The cup stands slightly over 3 ½” tall and just under 2 ½” across. Please note that while this is a previously owned item. It appears to be in good condition for an antique more than 124 years old. This piece weighs a substantial 7 ounces. It is not perfectly round and would appear to have manufactured this way. TWO Antique Victorian/Art Nouveau Chain Mail G.Silver & Beaded Drawstring Bags
Two lovely. Unique and excellent condition antique evening bags from an estate sale are offered for your consideration. 1) The first is the Victorian/Edwardian G. Silver chain mail bag. In nearly perfect condition other than very minor age patina on inside of metal shoulder. It is totally intact and in working order with all woven mesh chains, 4 dangling fringe balls and ball clasp intact. It is marked with what appears to be" FP" in a circle followed by G. Silver on inside top shoulder(see Photo 6) It is 3" high from the top of the clasp to the bottom of the chain mail of the purse. 2-5/8" wide at the shoulders of the floral engraved top, and the"skirt" of the purse when spread out is about 3-1/2" wide. It has a single 8" long chain/handle. Variously described as Victorian, Edwardian or Art Nouveau, ... moreit is definitely antique, rare for its size and in fantastic condition. It was quite popular at the estate sale and we heard the term"sweet" quite often. 2) The second drawstring style purse is the larger of the two at 5-1/2" high by 4" wide. Done in beautifully tiny rows of 2 or 4 faceted silver tone sparkling beads. Its chain is a double, each about 6" long and closes the top of the purse when pulled. The beads are sewn onto a black mesh looking fabric and the lovely beaded loops not only hang below the entire top band but also drape along each side of the bag. Inside, the only minor"condition issue" is slight fraying of threads where the drawstring chain is attached inside by holder chains, but it is all still very strong and intact. This bag also got quite a bit of attention, as it is in such great condition with no missing beads that we can see and is quite an eye catcher. Since we got them together from the same estate, we decided to keep them together to offer to those who appreciate these sorts of finds. As always. The hair is in shades of medium and dark brown, in the shapes of flowers and cone type shapes. The background is white paper and the glass is old and wavy. The frame has gold around the glass, with a faux grain section surrounded by an ebony edge. The black edge has white designs on the corners. This piece is a nice smaller size, measuring 13.75" wide by 11.75" tall. The piece is in good antique condition, a section of the paper has separated on the inside, the frame has some missing pieces, missing paint and one corner has some of the white design ... moremissing. It is still wrapped around the original card. I have a few other items on other listings from this shop. There is approx 70" in length on this card. Enough ancient fabric for lots of projects. This is linen'entre deux' lace to be sewn between 2 pieces of linen as a band of decoration. With the raw plain top and bottom borders to be used as a hem. The linen's central panel is decorated with cutwork slits for a ribbon to be threaded through. The decoration is completed by a ladderwork border. Do see the photos for more details.
