The Cup measures 1 7/8" tall. 1 3/4" opening, and 2 3/4" from handle to rim. No chips, cracks, repairs. Did not know it had the crazing until up close inspection. The Saucer measures about 4 1/4" wide and stands approximately 1" tall at the raised petals. No cracks or repairs. This is in very good vintage condition. It will show very nicely for you. Sometimes my pictures look like they are leaning- it's my table- sorry for any confusion. Will be happy to combine shipping. My shipping labels will show the actual postage cost. The cup and saucer are stamped with a black circle mark and"Japan" only printed below. All are a pretty pink with, what looks to me, like summer snowflake flowers. S. hand painted lithophane Dragon Ware demi cup and saucer measures 2 1/8" tall, 3 3/4" across the saucer in diameter, and 2" inches across the top of the cup in diameter. They are hand painted with them being fine white china, having moriage raised gray and brown dragons, with moriage raised blue and white accent designs on them. The cup has a defined Geisha Girl lithophane design( carved like) in the bottom that can be seen when held up to the light. They both have gold gilt rims and handle. Korean War Vet Yamaha Chromatic Butterfly Harmonica Occupied Japan In Box 1953!
This harmonica belonged to my uncle who bought it in 1953 at the Ginza Market in Japan before going to Korea. It went with him from Inchon to north DMZ and Pusan. How it survived in such remarkable condition is surprising and in teh original box to boot. I do not know much about harmonicas so if there is something specific you need to know please ask. One side of the instrument says"Yamaha Chromatic Harmonica" trade Mark Butterfly Harmonica Made In Occupied Japan" There is no rust. The chrome finish is bright and it appears that there is a layer of brass on each side. The body has a very interesting orange and black finish that has no blemishes. There has been no attempt to clean or polish so that will be left to the new owner. WWII Occupied Japan Paper Outreach Items for Children, 1946.
From the estate of a WWII veteran. I think most of these items were used by occupying forces in Japan to reach out to children. Included is a Japanese newspaper dated 1946(not child themed) A colorful English alphabet/word chart with Japanese characters, and nine different coloring pages. The single-sheet newspaper(The Yomiuri-Hochi) is complete but has numerous tears, creases, wrinkles and is mildly soiled. It measures 21" x 16" Coloring pages are 6 3/4" x 10" they have a few creases and some tiny punctures. Alphabet chart(10 1/4" x 14 1/4" is creased and torn(1" bottom, 3" top) vertically. Is missing a little bit of lower left corner. Also, has a couple of tiny punctures and shallow creases. Backside is blank and lightly soiled with some chipping along fold"spine"

Occupied Japan lacquer over wood piano music box mother of pearl inlay and key
For your consideration is a very special Japanese laquer over wood music box with mother of pearl inlay. This was purchased in 1951 of 52 when the US was occupying Japan. My father who was a Navy service man sent this with a string of hand knotted pearls inside to my Mother who was a pianist as a gift. My Mother kept this box wrapped in a silk scarf in the top drawer of her dresser. As a child I always enjoyed it when Mom would share with me the stories about the items in that special drawer. I wish I had the space to keep it but I dont and storing it in a hot attic would surely destroy it. The hand painted gilt under the final coat of tinted varnish is detailed and lovely. If you look at photo#8 you can see the legs attach to the piano with turned wooden screws just like antique pianos of the 19th century! Photo 7 shows the music box and ... morewood construction.The music box plays a haunting Japanese sounding melody. The box measures 9 and 1/4 inches in length. It is 6 inches wide and 4 and 1/2 inches high. This box comes with its original key and working lock. My starting bid may seem a little high but I want to make sure this goes to someone who will treasure it as my Mother did. And preserve it as a token of love from a sailor who was half way around the globe and missing his cherished love. Please note that the only issue with this box is a small ding on one corner.
