Made from quarter sawed oak, lined with purple satin, ornamented cross on the lid. Mostly all there. Holy Water bottle, a linen Napkin for the priest and a linen Communion cloth, a gold lined Spoon-cup, 2 silverplate Plates,a large 13" silverplate Crucifix, small brush, money clip(not sure this went with the set) Its in pretty good condition, with some wear to the silverplate, Lining is in good condition, little dirty with some wax drips. Sick Call Set Extreme Unction Catholic Vintage Last Rites
This is a sick call set. Used for giving extreme unction or last rites in locations such as homes or hospitals. This is vintage because most sets carried by priests now are much smaller and compact. This box is 10 1/2" by 11" by 4 1/4" It is wood and is covered with heavy paper embossed to look like leather. The box has a beautiful brass cross glued to the top and brass hinges and a brass closure. The crucifix is wood, 10 1/2" tall, with a brass figure and inri. On the first pictures the inri was turned, the last picture shows it upright, sorry. The brass candlesticks are 4 3/4" tall. The shaker glass piece has a cross on top. This is an example of a box that families might pass down and keep in the home for use in case of illness or death.

This is a circa 1898 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. The wood shadow box holds a reverse painted glass front"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" and contains a chalk ware ... morestatue of Mother Mary holding the dying Jesus figure against a paper background of a church alter. Statue is about 12" tall.Painted in soft pastels and fills most of the shadow box area. This box could use some TLC to the back. It has been glued in the past. That is obvious(see pictures) The conditions is relatively good for this century old item. The back of this shrine was covered in paper.And is now brittle from age and flaking. Up for bids is a old Viaticum Kit. Case is made of what looks to be plywood and is covered with some kind of leather type material. Top of case has a gold cross that is part of the covering(Not a metal cross tacked on) Bottom of case has a crack that runs the length of the case and a label that has"Manufactured By The Collins-Patten Co. 15 Miller Place Boston Mass. Inside is covered with red material and is in pretty bad shape and some of the covering is coming loose. Contents are candle holders. The ribbon on the left has a cut across it. This box contains an ornate crucifix candle holder, spoon, 2 plates and very ornate Holy Water bottle with stopper. The candle holder on the left came off, but comes with the items so you can repair it. Catholic Sick call box/ last rites box with instructions Contains two 4.5 inch"silver" dishes( no markings but likely plated or chromed) 2 candles and holders which are affixed to the box absorbent cotton in Christian motif envelope. A cotton handkerchief There is a clamp in the center of the lined box which may be meant to hold a crucifix and if so one is not included. The box is finished on all sides with a plain bottom It is constructed with dovetailed corners and has a brass cross on the lid and a brass fastener to close. It is in very good condition it does have a couple of minor scratches on the lid but not penetrating the finish.It is 13 x 7 x 2.75 inches and weighs 2 lbs net. Powered by

I do not know the age. But I have seen others advertised as being from the 1920's. The wood box measures 13" X 7" and 3" deep. And is of dovetail joint construction. The latch is solid and fully functional. It has light scratches here abd there, but very clean. The only structural problem is A CRACK ON THE BACK SIDE BELOW THE HINDGE and A small section where the top is unglued from the side. BOTH VISIBLE IN PHOTO#5, The gold color metal cross is held firmly in place with tiny ... morebrads. The bottle has NO chips. NO cracks, NO stains; It has a shaker top(silver in color) that twists to open the shaker opening. Cork is good. Embossed with"HOLY WATER" on one side, a CROSS on the other. The small chalice cup appears to be aluminum. As are the two metal candle holders(vintage used candles included) The TWO plates are engraved with"I H S" And are VERY bright and shiny with NO dents, NO bends. Probably plated over unknown base metal. Crucifix snaps into holder in lid. With Jesus very shiny, again probably plated over pot metal? The wood cross is blackened oak. The inside purple(silk? material is nice and bright with NO rips. NO stains. The fancy spoon is marked"STANDARD" on the back. The envelope contains some clean cotton. But there is a rip in the envelope. Please examine and enlarge the photos to see the GREAT condition EXCELLENT throughout except for that crack on back of wood box! This box has a bottom compartment that folds down and stays in place with a chain and it held Holy Water and Crucifix. This lowered shelf would them become an alter. I do not have the accessories, just the BOX ONLY. The box is oak. It measures approximately 23 x 43 x 4. Weight is just under 9 pounds. The top compartment holds a chalk ware PIETA(Michelangelo) statue. The statue is the mother, Mary, holding her crucified son, Jesus. The window itself has reverse painting on the glass. This auction is for a Early 1900's Sick Call/ Last Rites Oak Framed Shadow Box with Contents. This shadow box was produce to fit into a recessed opening in a wall. However. In the event the appropriate recess was not available this box also came with a wire for hanging on a wall. This box has the original hanging wire which is still covered by the very fragile and peeling protective paper of the back of the box. The oak frame on this shadow box measures 13.5" x 23.25" and the depth of the box is 3.5" to the top of the frame. The storage part of the shadow box measure 9 7/8" x 4 3/4" and it is 3 1/4" deep. This compartment is fabric lined, which as per the picture shows its age, but the fabric is complete and it is not torn. The brass latch that holds this compartment closed is missing. This is a circa 1900 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. With a little attention this set can be even lovelier. Patents are dated from 1898 to 1909 on the silverplate. This box contains the following: 2 Quad silver plate communion plates 2 arm quad silver plate candlestick with crucifix and holy water font Silver overlay holy water bottle Spoon with cross Communion cup Absorbant cotton in envelope Age: 1890's Measurements: Box is a pproximately 12" by 6 1/2" with a height of 14 1/2" Condition: The box has some nicks. Scratches etc with loose hinges. It used to click at the top but no longer does.
