Sick Call Set Extreme Unction Catholic Vintage Last Rites
This is a sick call set. Used for giving extreme unction or last rites in locations such as homes or hospitals. This is vintage because most sets carried by priests now are much smaller and compact. This box is 10 1/2" by 11" by 4 1/4" It is wood and is covered with heavy paper embossed to look like leather. The box has a beautiful brass cross glued to the top and brass hinges and a brass closure. The crucifix is wood, 10 1/2" tall, with a brass figure and inri. On the first pictures the inri was turned, the last picture shows it upright, sorry. The brass candlesticks are 4 3/4" tall. The shaker glass piece has a cross on top. This is an example of a box that families might pass down and keep in the home for use in case of illness or death.

A unique Last Rites Box also used for Sick/Prayer Vigil/ Exorcist Box Vintage Antique. Made of wood. It stands over 2 feet tall 10 1/2 in W& 3 in D. The shadow box/picture frame is approx: 4 3/4 in H x 8 1/4 W. Made of wood& metals. There are some tiny white paint spots. The chain comes of the hook inside the box. The head on the nail in Jesus' left hand has either come off or it's a replacement with too small a head as the hand can pop off the wood.

Up for bids is a old Viaticum Kit. Case is made of what looks to be plywood and is covered with some kind of leather type material. Top of case has a gold cross that is part of the covering(Not a metal cross tacked on) Bottom of case has a crack that runs the length of the case and a label that has"Manufactured By The Collins-Patten Co. 15 Miller Place Boston Mass. Inside is covered with red material and is in pretty bad shape and some of the covering is coming loose. Contents are candle holders. Bottles(one with water in it) a beaker and a jar with silver strainer top with cross. Latch on case is also broken. This is the first one of these that I have seen. Picked it up at an estate sale. Up for sale is a Vintage Portable Prayer/ Communion/ Last Rites/ Chapel Wood Box. This lovely dovetail construction box features a dark stain to the wood and a brass Cross on the lid of the box. The inside of the box is lined with a purple fabric that has faded with age. Inside of the box is a glass bottle marked Holy Water. A small paper packet with an absorbent cotton pad, 2 small engraved metal dishes, a small metal cup, and two metal candle holders that are attached to the box. The box has one long scratch across the lid and various smaller nicks across the rest of the surface. The glass bottle is empty. There would have been a Cross and two candles with this kit at one time that are no longer present. The brass cross on the lid has small scratches and patches of discoloration. Vintage Wooden Catholic Crucifix Sick Call Last Rites Box Set Candles Holy Water
I Dream Retro vintage. art. all things cool. For auction is a sick call/last rites crucifix box set. It came from an estate sale. The wooden cross is approximately 14" x 8" There is a hole in the back for hanging on a wall. If laid flat. However, you can open the crucifix by pulling the top part of the cross down. Inside are stored a set of instructions, a glass Holy Water bottle, 2 candles, and absorbent cotton wrapped in blue tissue. Two holes on the side shorter board are exposed and hold the candles. It looks like the set was used at least once because the candles have been lit, but the set is in good overall condition. The plastic lid to the Holy Water bottle crumbled to pieces and the candles have melted together, probably from being stored in a hot attic or something similar. The edges of the Set of Instructions are yellow ... moreand crumbling but this does not affect the text. This is an interesting item and can always be hung on the wall for devotional use. With brass ends on the corners and a brass cross on the lid. The box has brass hinges and lid clasp. One of the brass hinges is broken. The outside of box is in very good condition for its age. The interior is not in very good shape. The lining is faded and fraying. Items inside: box of unopened Blessed Candles. Antique Vintage Sick Call Last Rites Death Silver Wood Box with Crucifix & more
This is a vintage unrestored wood cabinet priest sick call or last rites box with all of the components. Many of which are silver plated. The base of the cross and the cup are stamped with an anchor logo and states“Anchor Silver Plate Co. Special Metal, Quadruple Plate” From a search on the internet for Anchor Silver Plate Co. I found that this company was in business from 1898-1905. The cabinet, two plates, spoon, brush, and holy water bottle have no manufacturer marks. See notes below regarding defects; it appears that this sick-call box/last-rites box was used often. This vintage religious kit can make for a lovely display and conversation piece once it is restored. The cabinet is 14.5” high by 12” wide by 6.75” deep. The crucifix on the candle base is 12.75” high. The two plates are almost 5” in diameter. The bottle is 3.5” high, the ... morespoon is 6” long, the cup is 2.75” diameter, and the brush handle is nearly 2” long. The wood cabinet will need to be refinished for original appearance. Or left as is for an antique appearance. The wood appears to be an oak. There are two small holes side by side on the right door that were probably used for a handle or sash to secure the door during travel. The base of the cabinet is bowed/warped downward at the front about 3/16 of an inch. All four hinges are present. But four of the small nails are missing on the bottom left hinge, and one of the small nails is missing on the top left hinge. The“IHS” strap on the inside of the right door is ripped in half. The one on the left door is still in tack. But could probably rip too if not careful. Each of the pockets on the inside of both doors have a tear in the purple fabric. Nearly all of the silver plated items will need to be replated if you wish to have the original luster of silver. The holy water bottle has salt water deposits inside that could probably be soaked off with vinegar. The metal screw cap does come off. But it has a small dent on the top corner. The brush bristles have come out of the silver brush handle. N

Including the box, which I believe is oak. The box contains two candlesticks which are some type of heavy metal painted gold. Two beeswax candles which have been used, a Crucifix and 2 bottles which traditionally contained, Holy oil and Holy water. now empty. All are in good vintage condition, the box has a dark area on the cover. The box measures 12 x 10 x 3.5 inches. This is as found, I have done nothing to clean or polish it.

Vintage Portable/Pocket Communion/Last Rites Kit
A very cool item. And pretty old, I think-perhaps 1930's or older? I only say that because of the shape of the bottle and the cork as a stopper. On the other hand, it has a threaded stem for the chalice or cup. This is, from what I am led to understand, a pocket- or portable communion or last rites kit. It is lined in purple velvet, which is worn and faded here and there, but only slightly. VERY unfortunately, the bottle is broken on a corner, as you can see. However, the screw-in stem and pieces that form the chalice are in great shape, along with the plate for communion wafer. The box has a slide-latch that works great and keeps the box shut. I don't know. I just think it's a very cool old piece that one doesn't see every day. Tell me I'm crazy!

Catholic Sick Call Last Rites Box with Crucifix Old Vintage 1910 Cincinnati OH
Here is an old"Altar Sick Call Outfit" made by the Homan Mfg. Co. Cincinnati Ohio and it's dated Jan. 11, 1910. At some point in it's life it was nicely refinished. As can be seen in the picture the tip of one of the candle holders is broken off but it still mounts securely in the holder and is not noticeable.
