Made from quarter sawed oak, lined with purple satin, ornamented cross on the lid. Mostly all there. Sick Call Set Extreme Unction Catholic Vintage Last Rites
This is a sick call set. Used for giving extreme unction or last rites in locations such as homes or hospitals. This is vintage because most sets carried by priests now are much smaller and compact. This box is 10 1/2" by 11" by 4 1/4" It is wood and is covered with heavy paper embossed to look like leather. The box has a beautiful brass cross glued to the top and brass hinges and a brass closure. The crucifix is wood, 10 1/2" tall, with a brass figure and inri. On the first pictures the inri was turned, the last picture shows it upright, sorry. The brass candlesticks are 4 3/4" tall. The shaker glass piece has a cross on top. This is an example of a box that families might pass down and keep in the home for use in case of illness or death.

This is a circa 1898 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. The wood shadow box holds a reverse painted glass front"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" and contains a chalk ware ... morestatue of Mother Mary holding the dying Jesus figure against a paper background of a church alter. Statue is about 12" tall.Painted in soft pastels and fills most of the shadow box area. This box could use some TLC to the back. It has been glued in the past. That is obvious(see pictures) The conditions is relatively good for this century old item. The back of this shrine was covered in paper.And is now brittle from age and flaking. I will insure the item for the purchase price and will pack carefully. However I can only guarantee the items condition how it leaves my place. Great item for religious collections. This auction includes 1 wooden box measuring 13" wide by 7 1/2" long and depth is 3" Included inside the box: 1 spoon(wbw silver plate stamped on the back) 2 candle holders(attached to the box) 2 candles(candles are old never used but a little crooked and the paper on one seems to be stuck but will come off. 1 glass holy water container. 1 cup 1 cross 1 package of absorbent cotton 1 sick call instruction card 2 plates(one plate perfect condition other plate used condition some sratches and loss of picture that was stamped or etched into the plate. I am not an expert I have tried to research this box I found one with similar plates that was made in 1897. And I have researced the spoon in this box itb has a maker mark that says wb/w. This maker made spoons in the ... moreearly 1900s and then added on to that mark later I think after 1920 or 30s. All of the silver in this box is plated I believe but only the spoon says silvet plated. So with the research I have done im guessing its from early 1900 but im really not sure. The ribbon on the left has a cut across it. This box contains an ornate crucifix candle holder, spoon, 2 plates and very ornate Holy Water bottle with stopper. The candle holder on the left came off, but comes with the items so you can repair it. Also, the holy water bottle is cracked, but the ornate metal,silver( overlay hides it and it's not loose from what I can tell. Antique Circa 1909 Holy Name Altar Catholic Sick Call Last Rites Box & Supplies
You're bidding on an antique Catholic relic- a Holy Name Altar& Sick Call Outfit. These were manufactured around 1909 to serve in the family home as both a shrine. And as a ready on-hand sick call and last rites kit for a visiting priest. 23" tall and 13" wide and front-to-back depth of about 3 1/2" appears to be constructed of nicely stained oak. It features a large inset shadowbox with a plaster or chalkware statue of Mary cradling the body of Jesus in the style of Michelangelo's Pieta, behind glass with reverse-painted bordering and the phrase, Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" Below that is a door with an inset print of the Last Supper, that opens up into a compartment that contains the sick call/last rites kit. This box contains a nice Holy Water bottle with ornate pewter crown-shaped capped cork stopper- bottle ... moreis 4" tall including the top and 2 1/2" wide, with a cross design on one side and script on the other reading"For Holy Water- Keep constantly filled" Box also contains a crucifix that can be affixed to the back of the door with two attached straps, the two brass candle holders that mount to brass fixtures on the sides of the cabinet, two white candles, an engraved small plate and silver-plated spoon, several white linen cloths, a small plastic vial, and a small figural religious icon of some sort. Catholic Sick call box/ last rites box with instructions Contains two 4.5 inch"silver" dishes( no markings but likely plated or chromed) 2 candles and holders which are affixed to the box absorbent cotton in Christian motif envelope. A cotton handkerchief There is a clamp in the center of the lined box which may be meant to hold a crucifix and if so one is not included. The box is finished on all sides with a plain bottom It is constructed with dovetailed corners and has a brass cross on the lid and a brass fastener to close. I do not know the age. But I have seen others advertised as being from the 1920's. The wood box measures 13" X 7" and 3" deep. And is of dovetail joint construction. The latch is solid and fully functional. It has light scratches here abd there, but very clean. The only structural problem is A CRACK ON THE BACK SIDE BELOW THE HINDGE and A small section where the top is unglued from the side. BOTH VISIBLE IN PHOTO#5, The gold color metal cross is held firmly in place with tiny ... morebrads. The bottle has NO chips. NO cracks, NO stains; It has a shaker top(silver in color) that twists to open the shaker opening. Cork is good. Embossed with"HOLY WATER" on one side, a CROSS on the other. The small chalice cup appears to be aluminum. As are the two metal candle holders(vintage used candles included) The TWO plates are engraved with"I H S" And are VERY bright and shiny with NO dents, NO bends. Probably plated over unknown base metal. Crucifix snaps into holder in lid. With Jesus very shiny, again probably plated over pot metal? The wood cross is blackened oak. The inside purple(silk? material is nice and bright with NO rips. NO stains. The fancy spoon is marked"STANDARD" on the back. The envelope contains some clean cotton. But there is a rip in the envelope. Please examine and enlarge the photos to see the GREAT condition EXCELLENT throughout except for that crack on back of wood box! This is a circa 1900 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. The lower box area contains a fold down alter platform held with chain and a latch and features 2 built-in decorative ... moremetal candle holders on each side of the alter. The lower alter compartment would hold a silver dish. A wood crucifix( Not included) The metal detachable candle holders are missing, and candles, or instructions are not included. I Dream Retro vintage. art. all things cool. For auction is a sick call/last rites crucifix box set. It came from an estate sale. The wooden cross is approximately 14" x 8" There is a hole in the back for hanging on a wall. If laid flat. However, you can open the crucifix by pulling the top part of the cross down. Inside are stored a set of instructions, a glass Holy Water bottle, 2 candles, and absorbent cotton wrapped in blue tissue. Two holes on the side shorter board are exposed and hold the candles. It looks like the set was used at least once because the candles have been lit, but the set is in good overall condition. The plastic lid to the Holy Water bottle crumbled to pieces and the candles have melted together, probably from being stored in a hot attic or something similar. The edges of the Set of Instructions are yellow ... moreand crumbling but this does not affect the text. This is an interesting item and can always be hung on the wall for devotional use. The top portion is a shadowbox with a statue of the Pieta Shrine. Along the bottom of the glass is written"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" The glass is hand painted to simulate stained glass. The shadow box measures approx. 22 3/4" x 13" wide x 4" deep and is in very good condition. The bottom portion of the box is a small cupboard space with the door hinged at the bottom. And brass chains attached to the sides. It is held closed with a small brass button snap at the top. A picture of The Last Supper is behind glass on the front of the cupboard door. Here is some more info about this: Acquired from an estate sale in MA Metal hardware material unknown. Nice detail metal hardware. Wooden box has some flaws(cracks.Scrathes) Comes in a wooden box.Scatches dents.Splits,cracks,paint, dings,markings from use over time. Condition of box is fair. Has a blue type cloth material lining inside box. Tag on crucifix reads"at least 125 years old" Crucifix appears to be made from a cast metal type of material. Holy Water stamp on back is from National Shrine of The Divine Mercy Eden Hill Stockbridge. MA. Age appropriate condition.Average wear. etc. See pictures so that you can decide I noticed that some splits/cracks ... moreon top of box. May have missing pieces. The candle holder is not included. Candles are bent and have been used. The inside liner may be stained from use over time. Looks like the bottom piece was loose and split then glued on. Comes with everything shown. Vintge Catholic Sick Call Box
Vintage Catholic sick call box. Circa 1960's. This is a complete set, with the exception of the original candles. Wooden box is scuffed up a bit with front latch missing. Original brass cross on top in tact. Beautiful purple cloth inside is without tears and still rich in color. Holy Water bottle is in great shape. No cracks or scuffs, but the cork is hollow, so the top doesn't stay on(can be fixed for aesthetic) The wooden cross is in mint condition(these alone are expensive online) Silver plates are beautiful and very shinny. Chalice is mint, too. The candle holders are still in place and able to hold a candle. Equip with sick call instructions, original absorbent cotton and ceremonial cloth, all in great shape, with the exception of some ink bleed, potentially from the inner box cloth.

1930 Bakelite Deco Sick Call Box Christianity/Catholic Last Rights/Religious
Please note that I do NOT ship outside of the United States at this time. I have for your consideration a wonderful 1931 Bakelite Sick Call Kit. Measuring 6 inches. By 3 ¾ inches by 1 ¾ inches this sick call kit has everything a pastor, minister, father, priest would need to comfort someone during their last moments on earth. The bakelite box opens to reveal a crucifix, two bakelite candle holders, holy water bottle(still has some water in it) the original cloths/napkins, the original 1931 Sacred Service pamphlet as well as memorial cards from the thirties through the eighties. The condition is very good with the exception of the little screws that hinge the lid, they have some surface rust which you could remove with some steel wool very easily. Candles have been used in a previous passing. The back of this box also features a ... moresmall brass swivel ring so that you can hang this lovely and comforting piece on a wall or cabinet. 85 years old and still an object of comfort and belief. Catholic Sick Call Last Rites Box with Crucifix Old Vintage 1910 Cincinnati OH
Here is an old"Altar Sick Call Outfit" made by the Homan Mfg. Co. Cincinnati Ohio and it's dated Jan. 11, 1910. At some point in it's life it was nicely refinished. As can be seen in the picture the tip of one of the candle holders is broken off but it still mounts securely in the holder and is not noticeable. Contents in the drawer that opened in the back include the original silver plated dish. The other items I believe not to be original to the kit but are included. Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!

THIS IS AN OLDER ANTIQUE PATENT 1897 PRIEST SICK CALL OUTFIT. THE PATENT DATE IS ON THE BACK OF THE ANOINTING CUP. HOMAN SILVER PLATE COMPANY. IT COMES IN THE ORIGINAL WOOD CABINET. I AM SELLING THIS SET AS I FOUND IT. IT IS COMING OUT OF AN ESTATE. THE WOOD CABINET DOES HAVE SOME SCRATCHES IN THE WOOD. THE TOP OF THE CABINET HAS TWO WOOD CHIPS ON IT. THE SET HAS DEFINITELY BEEN USED. THE FRONT OF THE CABINET HAS TWO CROSSES ON IT. THEY ARE SOME TYPE OF METAL. THE WOOD DOORS ON FRONT ARE CARVED ON THE EDGES. THE BACK OF THE CABINET DOES HAVE A CRACK. SEE PHOTO) THE CRUCIFIX IS IN GREAT CONDITION. THE COMMUNION PLATE HAS A COUPLE OF SPOTS ON IT. I ASSUME THEY CAN BE POLISHED OUT. I DID NOT REMOVE THE CRUCIFIX OR COMMUNION PLATE. THE CANDELABRA WITH HOLY DISH(SHELL) HAS SOME WEAR. THE TOP OF THE CANDELABRA IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE BASE HAS SOME ... moreWEAR. IT APPEARS SOME OF THE SILVER-PLATE HAS WORN OFF. I DID PHOTO IT. 7 1/2" TALL AND 10"WIDE. THE CRUCIFIX FITS INTO THE TOP OF THE CANDELABRA. I DID NOT REMOVE THE CRUCIFIX FROM THE BOX SO I DID NOT PUT THE CRUCIFIX INTO THE CANDELABRA. THE HOLY WATER CANISTER IS IN GREAT CONDITION. NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. THE GLASS IS FOGGED AS IT NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING. THE STOPPER IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND MATCHES PERFECTLY. THE BAND IS IN TACT TO HOLD THE HOLY WATER BOTTLE IN THE CASE. THE ANOINTING CUP DOES NOT HAVE ANY DENTS. BUT SOME OF THE SILVER PLATING HAS WORN OFF. YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE PHOTO.THE HANDLE OF THE CUP IS VERY DETAILED AND PRETTY. THE INSIDE OF THE BOX IS LINED IN A DEEP PURPLE VELVET. THE RIBBON ON THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR IS TORN. I PHOTOED IT. THE BOX IS 15" TALL AND 10 1/2" WIDE. A VERY NICE ANTIQUE OVERALL.
