Sick Call Set Extreme Unction Catholic Vintage Last Rites
This is a sick call set. Used for giving extreme unction or last rites in locations such as homes or hospitals. This is vintage because most sets carried by priests now are much smaller and compact. This box is 10 1/2" by 11" by 4 1/4" It is wood and is covered with heavy paper embossed to look like leather. The box has a beautiful brass cross glued to the top and brass hinges and a brass closure. The crucifix is wood, 10 1/2" tall, with a brass figure and inri. On the first pictures the inri was turned, the last picture shows it upright, sorry. The brass candlesticks are 4 3/4" tall. The shaker glass piece has a cross on top. This is an example of a box that families might pass down and keep in the home for use in case of illness or death.

ANTIQUE CATHOLIC HOLY NAME LAST RITES ALTER, SICK CALL SHRINE SHADOW BOX
This is a circa 1898 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. The wood shadow box holds a reverse painted glass front"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" and contains a chalk ware ... morestatue of Mother Mary holding the dying Jesus figure against a paper background of a church alter. Statue is about 12" tall.Painted in soft pastels and fills most of the shadow box area. This box could use some TLC to the back. It has been glued in the past. That is obvious(see pictures) The conditions is relatively good for this century old item. The back of this shrine was covered in paper.And is now brittle from age and flaking. I will insure the item for the purchase price and will pack carefully. However I can only guarantee the items condition how it leaves my place. Great item for religious collections. Vintage Last Rites/Sick Call Viaticum Kit
Up for bids is a old Viaticum Kit. Case is made of what looks to be plywood and is covered with some kind of leather type material. Top of case has a gold cross that is part of the covering(Not a metal cross tacked on) Bottom of case has a crack that runs the length of the case and a label that has"Manufactured By The Collins-Patten Co. 15 Miller Place Boston Mass. Inside is covered with red material and is in pretty bad shape and some of the covering is coming loose. Contents are candle holders. Matching pair of vintage Catholic sick call/ last rites cast iron swing arm candle holders. They each measure 4 3/4 inches long. By 2 1/8 inches wide, by 3 5/8 inches high. The candle holder part measures 1 1/8 inches long, the inside measurement is 3/4 of an inch, which means it will hold a 3/4 of an inch in diameter candle.

Antique Circa 1909 Holy Name Altar Catholic Sick Call Last Rites Box & Supplies
You're bidding on an antique Catholic relic- a Holy Name Altar& Sick Call Outfit. These were manufactured around 1909 to serve in the family home as both a shrine. And as a ready on-hand sick call and last rites kit for a visiting priest. 23" tall and 13" wide and front-to-back depth of about 3 1/2" appears to be constructed of nicely stained oak. It features a large inset shadowbox with a plaster or chalkware statue of Mary cradling the body of Jesus in the style of Michelangelo's Pieta, behind glass with reverse-painted bordering and the phrase, Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" Below that is a door with an inset print of the Last Supper, that opens up into a compartment that contains the sick call/last rites kit. This box contains a nice Holy Water bottle with ornate pewter crown-shaped capped cork stopper- bottle ... moreis 4" tall including the top and 2 1/2" wide, with a cross design on one side and script on the other reading"For Holy Water- Keep constantly filled" Box also contains a crucifix that can be affixed to the back of the door with two attached straps, the two brass candle holders that mount to brass fixtures on the sides of the cabinet, two white candles, an engraved small plate and silver-plated spoon, several white linen cloths, a small plastic vial, and a small figural religious icon of some sort. There are two plates, a small scooper, the candle holder, base, and cross, as well as a bottle marked Holy Water with a cross on the other side, which is empty, marked Homan on the bottom. The silver plate pices are marked Homan Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate special metal Pat. Nov.17.96 and the small scoop says the same with the exception of Pat'd April'97 and that is how the plates are marked also. When I opened the box it looked as though someone had taken the whole kit, candles and all, and threw them into the box. There was melted candle everywhere. It has stuck to the soft purple lining. I cleaned it as best I could but it tore holes in the lining. Catholic Sick call box/ last rites box with instructions Contains two 4.5 inch"silver" dishes( no markings but likely plated or chromed) 2 candles and holders which are affixed to the box absorbent cotton in Christian motif envelope. A cotton handkerchief There is a clamp in the center of the lined box which may be meant to hold a crucifix and if so one is not included. The box is finished on all sides with a plain bottom It is constructed with dovetailed corners and has a brass cross on the lid and a brass fastener to close. Local parish priests would make house calls and bless the sick or administer the sacrament of Last Rites to the dying. This box has a bottom compartment that folds down and stays in place with a chain and it held Holy Water and Crucifix. This lowered shelf would them become an alter. I do not have the accessories, just the BOX ONLY. The box is oak. It measures approximately 23 x 43 x 4. Weight is just under 9 pounds. The top compartment holds a chalk ware PIETA(Michelangelo) statue. The statue is the mother, Mary, holding her crucified son, Jesus. The window itself has reverse painting on the glass. Early 1900's Sick Call / Last Rites Oak Framed Shadow Box with Contents
This auction is for a Early 1900's Sick Call/ Last Rites Oak Framed Shadow Box with Contents. This shadow box was produce to fit into a recessed opening in a wall. However. In the event the appropriate recess was not available this box also came with a wire for hanging on a wall. This box has the original hanging wire which is still covered by the very fragile and peeling protective paper of the back of the box. The oak frame on this shadow box measures 13.5" x 23.25" and the depth of the box is 3.5" to the top of the frame. The storage part of the shadow box measure 9 7/8" x 4 3/4" and it is 3 1/4" deep. This compartment is fabric lined, which as per the picture shows its age, but the fabric is complete and it is not torn. The brass latch that holds this compartment closed is missing. The contents of this ... morelast rites box include: 1. The original holy water bottle with stopper. Which is embossed with a cross on one side and reads"For Holy Water Keep Constantly Filled" on the other side. 2 The original a crucifix. The brass coating shows some wear. 3. For sale is a vintage Catholic Priest SICK CALL box. The outside measurements of the picture of Jesus measures. 9 1/2" x 11 1/2" The bottom box measures 8" x 10" This particular one is able to be hung on a wall with the metal. Hanger on the back. On the box. There is a latching hook that keeps the box closed securely. When the latch is undone. The lid opens and has a beautiful. Crucifix on the inside. The base of the box has two glass dishes. 2 candles. both have been used) A water bottle(the cork needs to be. Replaced. A spoon, and a linen cloth which has a few light stains. The only thing that this kit is missing are cotton balls. Which fit into the larger empty hole. The 2 smaller. Empty holes are for standing the candles up in. This is a circa 1900 antique Holy Name. Shrine Shadow Box Prayer Alter sick call box. Hand made of oak, this shrine was commonly used for"house calls" by a priest at times of sickness or death to assist the priest in delivering the Sacrament. The Holy Name Alter was also used for home devotions and was a permanent fixture in many Catholic homes. The framed box was designed to fit into a permanent recess in a wall(like a medicine cabinet) But also has a wire for wall hanging, so it could be moved where needed. Exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. The two recess areas containing the sculptures and the sacraments is about 3" deep. The prayer station is large and impressive. The lower box area contains a fold down alter platform held with chain and a latch and features 2 built-in decorative ... moremetal candle holders on each side of the alter. The lower alter compartment would hold a silver dish. A wood crucifix( Not included) The metal detachable candle holders are missing, and candles, or instructions are not included. The wood shadow box holds a reverse painted glass front"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" and contains a chalk ware statue of Mother Mary holding the dying Jesus figure against a paper background of a church alter. Statue is about 12" tall.Painted in soft pastels and fills most of the shadow box area. This is a Victorian era shadowbox or shrine titled THE HOLY FAMILY. These were used for last rites or sick calls. I Dream Retro vintage. art. all things cool. For auction is a sick call/last rites crucifix box set. It came from an estate sale. The wooden cross is approximately 14" x 8" There is a hole in the back for hanging on a wall. If laid flat. However, you can open the crucifix by pulling the top part of the cross down. Inside are stored a set of instructions, a glass Holy Water bottle, 2 candles, and absorbent cotton wrapped in blue tissue. Two holes on the side shorter board are exposed and hold the candles. It looks like the set was used at least once because the candles have been lit, but the set is in good overall condition. The plastic lid to the Holy Water bottle crumbled to pieces and the candles have melted together, probably from being stored in a hot attic or something similar. The edges of the Set of Instructions are yellow ... moreand crumbling but this does not affect the text. This is an interesting item and can always be hung on the wall for devotional use. Antique Vintage Sick Call Last Rites Death Silver Wood Box with Crucifix & more
This is a vintage unrestored wood cabinet priest sick call or last rites box with all of the components. Many of which are silver plated. The base of the cross and the cup are stamped with an anchor logo and states“Anchor Silver Plate Co. Special Metal, Quadruple Plate” From a search on the internet for Anchor Silver Plate Co. I found that this company was in business from 1898-1905. The cabinet, two plates, spoon, brush, and holy water bottle have no manufacturer marks. See notes below regarding defects; it appears that this sick-call box/last-rites box was used often. This vintage religious kit can make for a lovely display and conversation piece once it is restored. The cabinet is 14.5” high by 12” wide by 6.75” deep. The crucifix on the candle base is 12.75” high. The two plates are almost 5” in diameter. The bottle is 3.5” high, the ... morespoon is 6” long, the cup is 2.75” diameter, and the brush handle is nearly 2” long. The wood cabinet will need to be refinished for original appearance. Or left as is for an antique appearance. The wood appears to be an oak. There are two small holes side by side on the right door that were probably used for a handle or sash to secure the door during travel. The base of the cabinet is bowed/warped downward at the front about 3/16 of an inch. All four hinges are present. But four of the small nails are missing on the bottom left hinge, and one of the small nails is missing on the top left hinge. The“IHS” strap on the inside of the right door is ripped in half. The one on the left door is still in tack. But could probably rip too if not careful. Each of the pockets on the inside of both doors have a tear in the purple fabric. Nearly all of the silver plated items will need to be replated if you wish to have the original luster of silver. The holy water bottle has salt water deposits inside that could probably be soaked off with vinegar. The metal screw cap does come off. But it has a small dent on the top corner. The brush bristles have come out of the silver brush handle. N

The top portion is a shadowbox with a statue of the Pieta Shrine. Along the bottom of the glass is written"Blessed Be Thy Holy Name" The glass is hand painted to simulate stained glass. The shadow box measures approx. 22 3/4" x 13" wide x 4" deep and is in very good condition. The bottom portion of the box is a small cupboard space with the door hinged at the bottom. And brass chains attached to the sides. It is held closed with a small brass button snap at the top. A picture of The Last Supper is behind glass on the front of the cupboard door. Catholic Sick Call. Last Rites Kit Box measures 13" x 7" x 3" Box is lined with deep purple. It has some candle residue on it. All hinges and hardware is strong. There is a few scratches on the top of the box. Includes Holy Water Bottle- Stopper is tarnished. Cork is missing. Silver plates show signs of wear and some wax residue. This box was commonly used for the"house calls" by a priest at times of sickess or death. This framed box has a wire for wall hanging, so it can moved to where its needed. The exterior frame measures about 23" tall X 13" wide X 4" deep. All measurements are approximate. The areas contain sculptures and some candle fixtures. The box contains a chalk ware statue of Mother Mary holding the dying Jesus figure against a paper background of a church alter. Catholic Sick Call Last Rites Box with Crucifix Old Vintage 1910 Cincinnati OH
Here is an old"Altar Sick Call Outfit" made by the Homan Mfg. Co. Cincinnati Ohio and it's dated Jan. 11, 1910. At some point in it's life it was nicely refinished. As can be seen in the picture the tip of one of the candle holders is broken off but it still mounts securely in the holder and is not noticeable. The two small plates are approx. 5-1/2" across and do have initials and engravings on them. The small scoop is approx. 5" long and has a cross and engravings on the handle.
