This gorgeous architectural piece was salvaged from an old church is Southwest Missouri. They are quite unique with a painted tortoise shell or marbled finish. One of the windows has been white washed over this finish. The colors are whte, cream, tan, black and a burnt orange. The wrought iron inserts are also ornate with intricate scroll work and a center, round medallion. The wrought iron is attached to the back of the frames with screws. The windows are in good antique condition. It does have chipped paint and the iron has an aged and rusted patina. The wood is old but still intact. LARGE BEAUX ARTS ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENT GOTHIC NORTH WIND FACE CORBEL
Fantastic Beaux Arts style architectural element corbel. 28" tall, 18" wide, 8" deep. Made of plaster, it has a rough texture but fantastic details including that stern bearded face in the center. The North Wind? Mephistopheles? or just some kind of gargoyle. The casting is strengthened with a metal rod in the back- you can see that someone had it hanging with a heavy looped wire and they put gaffer's tape on the back edge to keep it from damaging the wall. The surface is a combination of grays and there are some chips and scrapes on the edges- nothing major and they add rather than detract to the charm. It reminds me of something that you would see in an old stage or movie theatre and is a great dramatic piece for any setting. It has some age but is 20th century. There's a bit of green mold on the front in a couple ... moreof spots. Displaying or mounting this piece outdoors where it will be continually exposed to rain will gradually disintegrate the surface- it was not meant to be in the elements. Up for auction is an wonderful antique cast iron Gothic Revival fireplace insert from the 1800's. Fireplace insert came from a house located in one of many historic areas in the Cincinnati. OH area. Fireplace front measures approx 30 1/2" x 24 3/4" Rear insert sections measures approx 27 1/2" x 21" Fireplace is in very good condition showing the expected signs of wear for an item of its age. Cast iron was lightly cleaned and the asbestos was removed from the interior and properly disposed of. Five of the screws/bolts holding the front cast iron sections are not original to the piece. There are colorful Polish heraldic symbols in the window- a double headed eagle and a castle. T he bottle stands 14.5 inches tall. The bottle is in excellent condition- the blue screw on cap has no chips. No cracks, no damage. The print on the bottle is in superb condition- white spots are flash flares.
