Antique Barn Beams & Planks 1 piece
Selling pieces of barn timbers from an over 100 yr old barn in Adams County. PA. These are hand hewn& rough sawn beams with tool marks still on them. Some pieces still have mortise or tenon joints in them. Some have wooden pegs that were used to fabricate the pieces together. They would make a great fireplace mantle, decorative beam, etc. Various types of wood, some are oak, pine, chesnut. The shortest beam is 6 foot long and longest beam is 23 foot long. The dimensions of the(just the beam) are as follows: 3.5" Thick 9" Wide 47.5" long This bench when sitting on the floor is 47.5" long by 11" wide at the bottom of the legs by 16" high. PA that were built in the 1800's. 03-4*They have weathered over the years and they have a few water stains. Worm holes and air dry cracks. They were driven into the mortise joints in a post and beam constructed house or barn. They are in a nice rustic condition and would make great hanging hooks or pegs for all sorts of things. Coats, pots and pans, dry flowers, and decorations. These pegs are 7" to 6 3/8" long. They are 1" across the end and taper down to the points. Antique fur Barn Beam 8x8 x 24 foot long good shape over 100 years old wood
we just took a dairy barn down this winter and it had 3 of these 24 foot long 8x8 beams in it we think its fur. this auction is for 1 beam and it was raining when i took the pictures so they might have a little more luster than usual. the beams are for sale locally also so i will reserve the right to end it any time. i am firm at $200 each for the 2 nice ones except 1 of them has some rot on the 1 end about 10 feet in so i will let that 1 go for $150. if you want all 3 of them i will package deal them at $500. the hewn out area is just on 1 side of it. we are located in southern mn between albert lea and owatonna for pickup or inspection and we have the equipment to load them. call 507 291 0729 for details. we have most of the nails pulled out of them and there is a little white wash residue left on them yet. thanks.

The longest ones are 13' in length and most of them are 6"x6" or 7"x7" They are great for making mantles and other rustic projects. We had the job of taking down an old barn in Downingtown. PA, and managed to save a good deal of the wood. All the available salvage is now back at our yard in Norristown, PA. The current owner advised us that the barn"was part of the original Caleb Mercer Farmstead. Dating back to 1827-37, based on a Historic Resource Survey conducted by Wise Preservation Partners, as commissioned by East Bradford Township. It was designated as a Class I Historic Resource by the Township, along with being a contributing resource to the National Register of Historic Places Paradise Valley Historic District. We were advised from the property manager that the barn was added to around 1970; therefore. There is a mixture of old and newer wood in the lot. This was my fireplace mantel in my old house and I no longer have a need for it. It measures a little over 11 1/2 feet long. Vintage Michigan Barn Wood - siding, timbers, and beams
A strong winter storm took down our old barn last year. It was built in 1847. We still have a lot to sell and offer it here now for auction. We'd like to see this beautiful old wood re-purposed rather than burned. We have not prepared a detailed inventory. But if you are interested please contact me and I can gather details or specifics for you. The siding is red weathered and ranges in width between 8 and 16 inches with lengths between 6 and 12 feet. The timbers are a various lot. 4 x 4 and 4 x 6 in random lengths between 3 feet and 8 feet. The beams are all hand-hewn hardwood and still bear the marks of the tools used to shape them. I do not know the kind of wood, but it seems very hard. They are between 8 x 8 and 10 x 10 in cross section and between 10 feet and 30 feet in length. Some might be longer.

Hand hewn logs from Ozarks log barn
This is an early to mid 1800's log barn that was covered by a conventional barn around 1900. Located in the Missouri Ozarks. Logs are hand hewn oak approximately 6-10 inches in diameter. There are two sections approximately 18ft x 18ft square and 14 logs high. One side of the log barn has been exposed and several logs are rotten. But three sides have remained covered and logs are in great shape. Some of the original shaker shingles that have been covered with tin is now exposed. Price is for entire barn both log and conventional. Will take a decent offer for whole or parts. The barn has not been dismantled as of yet.

And the carpentry techniques used to create them are still in use among traditional builders today. What is a hand hewn timber? It’s any long piece of building material that has been transformed from round log to square timber using only hand-held tools.
