Mother of Pearl (Oyster or Abalone or Mollusk) & Copper Inlay Wood Plaques
Both plaques are 3/8" thick. 24"1/2" long, 7" wide. On both the varnish looks aged.wrinkling, but they look good wiped with pledge. They appear stained a cherry red color and varnished over a sheet copper mixed with a mother of pearl shell. The backs at the top center have a small hole as if a screw once occupied the space, and they are brushed with a black tar like substance I suspect was some type of adhesive. Their origin is unknown but they appear asian. One plaque has 2 butterflies over a type of marsh like flora, the other plaque has 2 birds possibly a sparrow and a quail near some flower type.
