Has sun fade discoloration as seen on top surface above drawers and to surface. The side has a dark stain as seen. The top surface has some issue that can be addressed by a professional wood worker or used as is. On the top there are four screw holes filled in by previous owner but obvious some edge dents in same vicinity and a divot on top surface on left side. When you pull it out, a portion of the chest top surface actually opens along with it creating a spacious work top perfect for a laptop or desktop computer. Mid Century Danish Modern Teak Cantilevered Desk with front Bookcase Lovig
This is an amazing Danish teak desk with a cantilever design. It has three angled drawers and a bookcase in the front. Made of teak with what I believe to be walnut legs. All of the drawers slide easily. As seen in pics# 9 and 10 the desk top has surface scratces. But in my opinion these do not take away from the overall piece. As seen in pic# 11. It is missing two screws, one on either side in the center. This does not seem to affect the stability whatsoever. I just like to be very descriptive. Unfortunately I was unable to find out the designer or manufacturer. It has no markings I could find. This piece reminded me of the Vladimir Kagan"unicorn" chair with its great design. The file drawers do not have bottoms which i believe is by design, the top left drawer does not have a bottom on the front section- I am not sure if this is original, if not this should be quite easy to replace. The second drawer on the left side has a partially cut bottom perhaps to house the lock? both of these can be seen in picture 12. The 2 top drawers go slightly too far in when pushed(see image 11) i am guessing there is a small stopper or something that normally stopped these so they close flush which should be easy to remedy. Circa 1950's Vanity and bench 100% Maple- no veneer. Made from solid wood Vanity approx. 42.5" wide and 28.5" tall Bench 25.5" wide by 25.5" tall approx. This was worthy of a professional restoration by Ed Hillenbrand Furnituremaker in Charleston. WV. This is a very very nice piece of furniture to own. No short cuts. The piece was taken down and finished with real lacquers(not the cheap finishes found at regular hardware stores) A vinyl sealer was used under the lacquer meaning spills will not effect the wood on this great dresser. It is lovely curved and sculpted maple with the original bench that went with it. It slides beneath easily or can be kept out. Closed: 34.5" wide. 21.5" deep, 45.5" tall When opened: 69" wide. 29" deep(desk folded out) Desk section 52" wide. A great unmarked piece certainly danish in design. This cabinet opens to reveal a fold out desk top that is very large and it truly exceptional. Lots of storage. Lots of space. The finish on the outside is oiled walnut or possibly a rosewood as it has dark streaks throughout. What makes this model different from others is what has been done to it. Not only have we finished it making the condition very good though minor imperfections still exist. But we have remedied a common fault with all Desk-In-A-Box models. Over time the weight of the swing out doors takes it's toll on main unit resulting ... morein the doors dropping low and hitting the legs of the unit. This is not from the hinges coming loose but from the sides of the main unit being over time stretched off the base. To remedy this blocks were added underneath. This way when you close it as you usually do with your feet. It snaps shut like it did when it was original and empty(devoid of weight) We also added adjustable feet so that you can get it precisely level once it is loaded so the doors do not swing back and forth as often happens. This is a very good unit now and will satisfy. This has a larger table top than most on offer and quite a large drawer below the desk, coupled with all the storage. This is an impressive unit that sits humbly until needed. The shipping cost covers blanket wrap to most Eastern States. West Coast buyers will pay about $150 more. History: This Desk has been in my family since new. My parents lived in Europe from 1948 to 1982. I do not know what year it was made or purchased. The Desk is in great condition. The Desk has been in a smoke free home all the time. General: I have looked for any markings on the piece of furniture that might tell me who designed or made it. But could not find any. Measurements: 58in Width x 29in Depth x 28in Tall The Desk has 3 drawers on the left and 1 drawer on the right which is a file drawer. Condition: The Desk is structurally sound a true testament to the craftsmanship. The exposed teak has never been refinished showing the true durability of this wood. My father had put some stickers on the inside of the file drawer which I have not tried to remove. See the last picture. The file drawer rails on the left side are loose/striped and ... moreneed to be fixed. This still allows the drawer to slide in and out it is just crooked a little. The Desks teak could be refinished to bring back the original shine. I believe that some buyers like the"Originality" of this era's items and some like to have them restored. This is a gorgeous and genuine signed SMI Sweden teak veneer rolltop desk/secretary. The lid and top drawer have locks but the key is not included. It measures 36" wide. 38" high and 19" deep. It is in excellent condition with some chipping along the very bottom of the right and left edges and a few chips on the inside edges of two of the drawers that are not visible when it is closed. Vintage Cylinder Desk This is a fantastic vintage cylinder desk. It is a Mid-Century Danish Modern piece. It was made in Sweden. It is marked on the bottom"MIS" which we are told stands for"Made in Sweden" We have also been informed that t he manufacturer is Egon Ostergaard and that it was manufactured in the 1960's. It is also marked"No. 58747" and"528" The original hardboard back was marked"valnot" Which means"walnut" in Swedish. We had to replace the back so this indicator has been removed. We are not sure which parts of the desk are composed of Walnut. Most of the desk surfaces have a gorgeous veneer. The star feature of the desk is the perfectly curved cylinder top. Which displays a quad-cut mirrored veneer design. When opened, there is a writing surface that can be pulled ... moreout. It measures 33 3/4" by 17" It sits 28 1/4" off of the floor. There are 5 cubbies which are all 3 7/8" tall. They vary in width from left to right: 8" 1 7/8" 10 7/8" 1 7/8" and 8" There are 3 small drawers between the writing surface and the cubbies. All of the drawers are 1 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" deep. The top and bottom drawers are 8 7/16" wide, and the center drawer is 12 5/16" wide. There are also 3 drawers below the writing surface, each of which measures 4 1/8" tall, 16" deep and 31 3/16" wide. This is in great condition overall with some general signs of age or use. There are some chips in the veneer on the bottom/front portion of the bottom drawer. The cubby and small drawer structure on the interior of the desk is slightly bowed. This does not effect the functionality in any way. The back of the desk has been professionally replaced with a material very similar to the original. Please see pictures for more details. Original Formica tops are in very nice shape with only very minimal wear for their age. All drawers are built to last utilizing tongue and groove dovetail construction. They all lock and fully extend on metal guides. Chrome legs and hardware all look like new. Everything works perfectly. Original keys included. Very solid and the teak is rich and just gorgeous! It is loaded with sculptural angles and lines. The design of the desktop surface is a little bit different then most of the“floating” top type desks. The top cantilevers out over the drawers. This provides two storage areas directly underneath the desktop perfect for papers or files etc. Best part is that these two cubbies are invisible when viewing the desk from the front. So no visible clutter. Now yes, the open space area beneath any floating desktop could be used for placing paper or files etc. but on this desk, the areas were specifically designed with this intention in mind…and again, keeps whatever is stored there invisible from the front.
