The sloped writing desk still contains the original wood pen holder(7 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall) and the glass powder jar with cover(1" tall and 1 1/2" wide) There are bits of wood veneer missing on the top and corners. There is some staining. And a few minor rips to the black and blue velvet on the inside. There is scuffing and scratching on the bottom. An amazing. Substantial piece weighing twenty-eight pounds. When opened it had a 13 ½ in. 5 ¾ in. writing surface and with another flip of the top would become a 13 ½ in. by 13 ½ in. surface. Made with solid Mahogany using hand cut dovetailed joints, it has Brass Handles recessed into the sides. Overall condition is good with wood patches in the back and along the inside edge. At some time in the past the felt was replaced and the leather hinges on the interior compartments are torn with the felt now supporting the writing surface. The top has a tight age crack, the felt has a tiny hole, and the old finish shows marks, scuffs, and fine scratches. It is sturdy and ready for use. Please look at the photos and email any questions. We are pleased to offer this unique. Rare, Mid Century, Campaign style, desk or entry table. Dating to the late 1960s or early 1970s, this beautiful desk drew its inspiration from the"Rat Pack" era of Hollywood. The desk was manufactured by School Field Industries and it is from their"Swingers Collection" School Field produced ultra modern, painted furniture and their quality was very nice. The desk is truly a modular piece. It features two, saw horse style, wooden legs. The legs sit under the table top by fitting into custom slots. If needed, the legs are easily removed. The top section of the legs are completely hinged and the legs fold flat. The desk top piece is a composite wood with a laminate covering. It has very ornate brass hardware and drawer pulls. There are three generous drawers on the front face. The side ... moredrawers are smaller in width than the middle. This is a very unique and very nice desk/table. It retains the original white painted finish. It is in very good condition with some minor aged character. The paint is chipped and has peeled in some of the areas on the legs. The top has a small scratch. None of these are distracting and, if you do not want the aged character appearance, you can repaint quite easily. There is one drawer that has interior cracking of the composite. It is not seen from the outside and it is not affecting the function of the drawer(photo 11) In general, the desk is in good condition and is fully functional. It is well made and it is heavy.
