For sale is a 1950s 2 arm industrial Jielde multi angle articulated machine ... morelamp. The aluminium elbows have been polished. The lamp is in working order and comes with 2.4 metres of new flex but not the plug as it is a French one. It is in very good used condition with some very minor signs of use to the reflector's surface. The reflector has its original high temperature painted surface and still has the bulb wattage/voltage sticker intact. The switch is in the base. I have included the lamp's weighted vehicle brake disc base in the sale. These lamps are very sort after and nice examples like this are becoming difficult to find. The photos don't do it justice! The lamp takes a Standard Bayonet cap bulb(B22) which are available at all DIY outlets. Bulb not included. The maximum wattage is 150w. Jielde lamps were designed by Jean-Louis Domecq for direct mounting on machine tools and for use in workshops. The lamps have now become particularly fashionable for use in loft style apartments and in homes generally as desk lamp/floor or wall lamps. So, hence I have fitted a trailing flexible lead to make the light more useable in the home. I have displayed this light using a vehicle brake disc which provides a solid base to show a typical method of mounting the light. Heavy sprockets. Hardwood- anything heavy will do the job. The light can also be fixed to a wall if required using its mounting base/bracket which has 3 holes in it. Although the light isn't heavy, it will require a solid wall and sturdy fixings to mount it as the movement required to adjust the lamp to the desired position will put stress on the mounting. Height to writing surface is 27" at front, 29" at back, has 18" wide by 5 1/4" deep raised compartment with hinged lid. Has four drawers, each with two pulls that open on the RH side, false fronts and pulls on LH side, each drawer 11" wide by 4 1/4" high by 16" deep. Has two inside drawers under writing surface. All surfaces except turnings have pecan burled veneer, narrow inlay on top and front, porcelain casters" This desk is in very good to excellent condition for it's age-see pictures. Has split on writing surface(see pictures) split not full width of surface. This'split' has not changed in length or depth during our family's decades-long possession of the desk. Has non-functioning'latch' To hold top partially open, not sure of purpose. Note that all four elevations are completely finished. With a coloured lacquered wood floral design to the top and finished ... morewith a tassel. The top has the most lovely design of flowers and outlining in coloured and textured pyrography- where the wood was decorated with hot tools to produce a raised and textured effect. This box has a rather Art Nouveau look to it. The box has a little drilled hole in the side of the base. Through which fine string or ribbon can be threaded and then pulled out beneath the top, but it can also be used as a standard box for holding paperclips or small items on a desk or dressing table. The item is nicely made and has an old paper label underneath which reads"Au Printemps" So I think this was orignally sold in France. Condition is overall very good. Ut there is some wear to the green varnished areas in the top design- but this is still a lovely and rare piece. If used as a string box. I feel this would be best suited to thin string, thread or twine, as shown in the picture- and will be included with the box- rather than thick string. Antique Oak Tole Painted Shabby Chic Slant Front Desk w/ Gallery Shelf This is a very solidly build heavy oak slant front desk that has been painted in the tole fashion. The desk was originally a slant front desk but someone somewhere along the line decided to modify it with ships so that the writing surface was flat. This is a very solid and heavy piece of furniture with the boards used to construct it being 3/4 of an inch thick of solid oak and the legs are up to an 1 1/2 thick of solid oak. The styling and heavy construction lead me to believe this is quite old. I would estimate 1880's. The paint is a newer modification though i am not sure when it was done. Judging from the age of the modification to make the desk flat I would estimate 1930's or 40's. The desk is in very good condition but it does have some wear and damage. ... moreThere are some chips in the paint along one edge where the modifications are and there is a chip in the right foot but it has long been painted over. The desk measures 24 inches wide 21 1/4 inches deep 31 1/2 inches high Estimate shipping weight:45 pounds I think this will probably be cheapest to ship via greyhound freight. These are hand made with sold wood, solid wood drawers. Skeleton key. Lock is stage 2, marked SC&S. Please see pictures for details. Antique Style Mahogany Writing Desk Made by Sligh USA
This is a very nice pretty clean writing desk. I would say the top is solid mahogany the rest is a veneer. The brass handles are all original and solid brass. The drawers all run fine. You do have either side a file drawer. The top drawer has the makers label( Sligh Holland Michigan) not really sure if they are still in business. L would guess the desk is around 30 years old, but would be a better quality desk than some they make today. The gold on the top is a little worn at the front as you will see in the picture but the leather is in pretty good condition. Crafted in a convenient pedestal design. This desk offers plenty of storage under lock and key; as a partners desk it offers double the normal space, since both sides contain exactly the same drawers in exactly the same layout. Each side features three standard drawers, one file drawer, one computer cabinet, and a ... moresingle keyboard drawer in the center–all under lock and key. As a pedestal desk, of course, this piece disassembles quite easily into the desktop and two pedestals; the top simply rests on the pedestals during normal use. The mahogany itself looks incredibly striking, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that look especially lovely in contrast with the satinwood banding and solid brass swan neck pulls.
