Offered for auction is a European type lipstick holder with engraving. It is made of 8oo silver and is marked 8oo on the shaft that holds the lipstick. The weight of the piece is 24 grams. The size is 2 1/16" tall. By 5/8" square. The blue stone is approximately 1/4" x 3/16" All parts are in working order. It could use a good cleaning, but I will leave that to the new owner. There also is a very slight bend in the mirror frame. I mention this for the sake of accuracy, as this in no way diminishes the overall beauty of this fine old piece!

But the French call them'carafon' and they're used at table for each place setting as either a personal service for wine or water. When I'm in France, I've grown so accustom to having these filled with water at table so I can fill my own goblet, and I've decided we all need them at home! That said, this one is a lovely and VERY French liqueur decanter- smallish in scale when compared to wine carafe, it would have come with a set of matching small shot cups or cordials and likely would have originally also had a matching value glass tray. The French tradition still holds that an aperitif is part of an evening, and so many of these beautiful little sets were made and a good number survive. We do have a few that are complete with many cups, 2 decanters and the tray, but more often we find the singles, and as such the size and beauty makes them perfect for use at table, one per place setting, as water or wine service for each one of your guests. I think it's a wooden frame with gesso/plaster of Paris decorative embossing highlighted with a true blue paint. The watercolor seems to have been painted on a sky blue paper. The flowers are light blue. Yellow, and taupe/brown with green leaves and stems. I couldn't find a signature. The framed print measures 9 1/4" x 9 1/4" The back of it has a label that seems to imply it was either made or framed in New Orleans, Louisiana. As shown on the pictures. It looks as though the nails have popped through the corners, but that, in my opinion, adds to its' shabby chic nature! The back probably needs to be resealed with another piece of paper, but I didn't want to cover up ... morethe historical information about it. Has a wire for hanging. Fabulous French Palais Royal glass trinket dish with beveled glass mirror. Ornately decorated with brass repousse floral(sunflower) design. The original blue glass dish insert has a 12 point"star" design and is in excellent condition.To the viewers left are 5 porcelain flowers, the largest is missing a petal.I am not sure if this was original or added sometime later. These beautiful vintage opaline glass boxes can have a variety of uses. These sat as decoration on my vanity. The glass shows no marks. Chips, or deep scratches. The hinges show signs of repair, that they have been glued back on. I repaired one of them, the other looks like it was repaired previously. These pieces are very old. Its not surprising that the adhesive originally used would have lost effectiveness by now. I have used Loctite adhesive to glue the metal hinge back to the opaline. This is a very strong adhesive that bonds just about anything. As I said. The glass is in great shape, and you cannot tell without looking closely that I made the repair. I also have another set of blue boxes for sale in addition to this set and the pink set that will be listed shortly. I have listed the blue ones as two separate listings since the color ... morein them is not a match. The other set is slightly darker in color. Antique Halcolite SET PAIR of Fleur de Lis Ceiling Lights or Sconce Pink Blue
I've held onto this gorgous set of lights for over 30 years now.never using them. Just moving them around the world in a box! Finally they should see the light of day and be put to use. My loss is your beautiful gain! They are a cast, heavy metal with what I would consider to be average paint loss for being 100 years old. There is one bit of damage which I just noticed.one of the points on one of the lights is broken.if you look at the first photo and look at the light on the right.and follow around the outside, you can see the missing point at about the 8 o'clock position. That missing piece measures about 1/2 inches long. One is slightly bent, see last photo where I have them laying flat on the table and I can slide a bit of my finger under it. But.could you tell when they are mounted on a celing? I think not. I have never had them ... moremounted or plugged.so not sure if the wiring works.BUT that is 1920 wiring which no matter what should be replaced to meet current codes and safety guidelines.
