During this time, many different Railroad Companies existed, so this was no mean feat. The Rand McNally Commercial Atlas was updated yearly to show all railroad stops, even if no population existed, such as loading areas, storage areas, and terminals. Beautiful vintage 1947 World Book Encyclopedia map North Carolina colorful LOOK!
This is a map of North Carolina from the limited printing of the 1947 post-war edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. It Is really a pretty map; the colors are bright(much brighter than the scan shows) The printing is crisp, and it is in great condition. This map is a 2-page spread disbound from the encyclopedia. It was tipped in using a separate little tongue of paper, so the map itself was not cut as it was removed. There is a crease down the center where it was folded in the book. The map was a little too big to fit on my scanner, so not all of it is shown in the scan. It has a white border all the way around it. The map is 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The altitude is color-coded, from green for the lowest altitude through yellow and orange to red for the highest altitude. I don't know much about maps, so I don't know how this ... moreone was made. It has an old-fashioned lithographed look to it, but I think I can see dots when I look at it through a magnifying glass. On the back of the map North Carolina towns are listed with their location and population(circa 1947) This is such a nice-looking map! It would look great framed. Sr. estate, these are all linen backed folding maps that measure 16 by 20 inches. Mr. Franke was a real estate developer in Birmingham, AL during the 1920's, 30's, and 40's and these maps were part of his personal collection. This is a 1931 map of North Carolina. It is from a scarce Cram's Atlas. The map measures 11.25 X 15 inches. It is in near mint condition showing only minor handling. Buyer will get a printed out page size copy of the index page. This is superior to any"Certificate of Authenticity" which are normally printed out on the sellers own computer. We send this to prove map was extracted from this extremely rare atlas and to help with insurance appraisals as the map will surely increase in value. There are a few reasons this map is rare. And more difficult to obtain than a Cram's map of the late 1800's. In 1931 the United States and the World was in a catastrophic depression. Thus Cram's did not print as many, and very few people had the money to buy this atlas. This is a beautiful map of North Carolina. Detailed. It is from a salvaged 1911 Cram's Atlas. Map measures a shy 12 x 15 inches. This map would look fantastic framed under glass. Investment quality. We have shown the cover of the atlas. And the index page giving the date the map was published. Copies of both the cover and the index page will be sent, printed out on standard printer sized paper for anyone that would like confirmation of date and publication it was extracted from.
