Beautiful vintage 1947 World Book Encyclopedia map Georgia colorful work of art!
This is a map of Georgia from the limited printing of the 1947 post-war edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. It Is really a pretty map; the colors are bright(much brighter than the scan shows) The printing is crisp, and it is in great condition. This map is a 2-page spread disbound from the encyclopedia. It was tipped in using a separate little tongue of paper, so the map itself was not cut as it was removed. There is a crease down the center where it was folded in the book. The map was a little too big to fit on my scanner, so not all of it is shown in the scan. It has a white border all the way around it. The map is 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The altitude is color-coded, from green for the lowest altitude through yellow and orange to red for the highest altitude. I don't know much about maps, so I don't know how this one ... morewas made. It has an old-fashioned lithographed look to it, but I think I can see dots when I look at it through a magnifying glass. On the back of the map Georgia towns are listed with their location and population(circa 1947) This is such a nice-looking map! It would look great framed. Up for auction is an old map of Georgia made by the American Oil Company- It is in good condition with no rips. Tears, bends, or creases, writing or marks- I can’t seem to find a copyright date on it. So I’m not sure how old it is- It has been packed up in smoke free storage since 1981. So I know it I at least that old- Map gives the population of Georgia cities. And it lists Atlanta, Georgia a having 487,455 people, and I’m pretty sure it has been a long time since Atlanta was that small. The Internet today says Atlanta has a population of 5.4 million- I will be happy to ship to non US Countries.
