The piece is signed in the front with the artist initials"M.F. The piece is very finely done. On verso of the bronze there is script writing. The photographs capture the script. The piece is in fine shape. Guaranteed to be a true antique! The family tells me that they believe that the artist M.F. was a family member. The plaque is 3 1/2 inches in diameter and looks like it was attached to something at one point this is a small amount of solder where the ring is, see photo. Beautifully done. Made of brilliant gilt bronze, by Alexandre Chertier(French, 1825- 1890) Chertier, a specialist in ecclesiastical work in silver and bronze received a gold medal as coopirateur at the Exposition Universelle of 1855 while working as foreman at the House of Bachelet in Paris. In 1857 he founded his own firm at 48, rue Mazarin, moving to 7, rue Firu in 1866. His important works, produced after 1870, include those for the church of Mont-Saint-Michel, and for the cathedrals of Saint-Omer, Reims, Moulins and Strasbourg. This substantialy made bronze stand measures 9.5 inches high. 15 x 17 inches at the base, 12 x13.5 at the top. I have pictured it with a modern marble top, which I will include if requested. I do not believe the original piece ever had such a top, but it helps accomodate a larger size of sculpture

Antique MICRO MOSAIC LACQUERED SNUFF BOX 1807 ZEUS Signed LUCHINI
This is an early 19th century lacquered box. Probably used for snuff, with a micro mosaic portrait of who I think is porbably the Greek god Zeus imbedded in the lid. Unusual in that it is signed and dated: G. or"C" B. Luchini F. 1807. With the two halves together the box measures 2 7/8" in diameter and 3/4" wide. The part of the mosaic that shows measures 2 1/2" in diameter. The mosaic which is made out of thousands of tiny stones is in very good condition with exceptional detail and nuance. There are numerous tiny spaces between the stones. But I only see one or two spaces that may be the result of a missing tiny stone. Does not seem to have any repairs/replaced stones. Some dirt along the edge that was not removed with a light, superficial damp cloth cleaning; I will leave the decision of further cleaning to the ... morenew owner. The box itself has some condition issues; the metal liner on the rim of the box on both sides has some damage, and the box no longer stays together as it should. I think the bottom liner originally stuck out above the rim of the bottom of the box so the two pieces could be put together, but it does not any longer. The box was also glued together at some point and shows some glue residue along the edges. Insurance is required for this auction and is included in the postage cost. THIS IS A UNITED STATES. Antique Oil Painting of Birches Signed T Bailey (Listed Artist) Very Good Frame
An antique oil on canvas painting of birches with homes and pond in background. Signed lower left T Bailey with excellent bark and leaf decorated plaster frame. The painting, 20" wide by 16" high within frame measuring 26" by 22" has been cleaned and ready for hanging. I believe the frame is original to the painting, the color of the back of the frame and the stretcher are very much the same. William Paskell usually comes to mind as the artist that did many of the T Bailey paintings, but I did not feel comfortable attributing this one to him.the signature looks good but it doesn't have the Paskell feel other than the birches. The frame, in secondary gilt, is gorgeous with the nature motif featuring bark, knots and leafs.there are several chips that you don't see easily.the cloth liner is quite worn with some tearing.the ... moreinner plaster liner is wonderful and the depth is good. Antique Signed Houdon Wax Bust of Young Girl Louise Brongniart on Marble Plinth
This beautiful. Antique wax bust appears to be a portrait of Louise Brongniard by Houdon. You can see the signatures on the reverse. Also marked"Made in France" The wax has discolored somewhat over time, however the bust is crisp and the wax is intact. It stands 10.25" tall on its marble plinth. There is something about the wax that is has an ethereal beauty. I find it hard to believe it has remained intact for 100 years or more, but there you go.

Extraordinary hp& signed animals. Botanicals, jesters Exceptional gambling/ games box& counters. Made of natural substances. Signed, hand-engraved and painted. Paris, France, 18th century. Measures a little over 3 1/4 inches long by 2 3/8inches wide. Rectangular box with hinged lid. Hinges believed to be original. Top and inside of lid and underneath bottom of lid are all handengraved and painted with an amazing assortment of human figures. Animals, insects and beautiful botanicals: The top of the lid has a fruit and foliage-filled border. A pair of oval reserves on the sides each contain a figure of entertainment: one has a dancing minstrel beating time with his tambourine. The other has a Pierrot type figure. Possibly both were well-known theatrical figures. The top corners each contain an insect/butterfly while one corner shows ... morea long-eared animal- possibly a rabbit of sorts. And the other a little prancing dog. The center of the top of the lid has an attached wheel that is moved by a brass knob. A hatch in the wheel displays the numbers. Presumably for score-keeping. Underneath the base is beautifully decorated with a squirrel sitting amidst a floral and foliate display. Insects hovering above. It is utterly charming as the long-nosed and long-eared critter smells the flowers. The inside bottom of the box has an attached scrolling metal reinforcement/decoration. Very delicate and original to the box. The inside of the lid is beautifully painted with a botanical arrangement. Depicted with great artistic ability and sensitivity. A panel at the bottom of this has a handwritten script that reads: Marixual le Jeune a Paris. Fecir. This was one of the best known makers of similar boxes in Paris of the time. WIthin. The box has a number of gambling chips. Some round, some rectangular, with canted corners and a pair of long rectangles. All are beautifully painted in the same hand as the rest of the decoration. Both sides are painted. The rectangles have numbers engraved in black in the center. While other box

The portraits have been beautifully presented and framed under glass in their history along with old provenance notes and papers about the collection attached to the old 19thC back board screwed into the back of the frame. Antique Painted Hand Fan, Signed I. Stoudez, Circa 1880
This huge fan needs alot of loving! The gouache painting in the middle of the fan. By fan artist, I. Stoudez, is absolutely adorable. The three putti are playing various musical instruments- look at those beautiful faces! The white mother of pearl guards and sticks are beautiful, decorated with gold leaf, except the left guard is broken(photo 5)some glue could take care of that) and there had been some repairs on the central sticks. It's the leaf that shows it's age. I see lots of perfume stains and there are small holes and splits on some parts of the leaf. Above the putti on the right are three blobs of stain. I think I highlighted all the defects in the photos. There are mother of pearl washers and a lovely brass loop. The back has been reinforced with a gauze backing by a professional conservator to keep the fan from ripping more. ... moreThis fan needs lots of TLC. Antique Hand Fan, Painted & Signed by Albert, 1890s
This stunning fan has some stain& tear issues. The signed painting of a man& woman is beautiful. Signed by Albert, a famous fan painter of that time. There are many perfume stains on either side of the painting and a couple of tears in the fabric on the right side. The back is plain and in terrible shape. A good conservator can put a gauze backing on the back. I don't know what can be done about the stains. The painting part would be fabulous framed, if one wants to take the leaf off of the sticks. The mother of pearl sticks and guards are in perfect condition and an absolutely beautiful color- I can see pinks and greens among the golden MOP! The rivet and loop are brass. CHERUB READING antique signed art deco bookends SALVATORE MORANI ARMOR BRONZE
A rare set of polychromed bronze-clad antique bookends made by Armor Bronze and signed by Salvatore Morani featuring a child seated with a book. Circa 1916. This is a lovely set of heavy original bookends featuring a young child sitting restfully with a book reading. These bookends each stand 6" tall. 4 1/2" wide, 5 3/4" deep and weigh 3 lbs. 7 oz. 6 lbs. 14 oz) Authenticity is assured as both are signed S. Morani(sculptor Salvatore Morani) on the side of the base and have the Armor Bronze hallmark. They are in very good original condition. These bookends were manufactured using the highly sought after bronze-clad process. The bronze-clad method in the 1920's was highly innovative. It was an early electroform process which created some of the most outstanding bookends of that era. Some of these products could take up to three days to complete. The cost of time and labor was excessive. None of the foundries survived. Fantastic dummy board. Fire screen. signed E. Leonard. Oil painting on canvas, artist board backing applied to frame. There are no tears or rips in the canvas. There is one area where they overlapped the canvas that the small nails have pulled through but not damaging the painting.Overall there are 4 nail heads that are missing.some minor chips in the paint as seen in the pictures. Center section is 36 inches tall and 30 inches wide. The sides are 9 inches wide and 32 inches tall to the point and 30 1/2 inches tall on the shorter side. The outer edges are tacked with folded canvas. The signature is on the top of a barrel on the left"flap" of the dummy board. This is an estate piece. A fine antique, artwork, a classical marble sculpture for the home. The bust is a representation of Dante's Muse. Beatrice. It is another unique item from the Hoffman estate, formerly of Tuxedo Park, N.Y. The bust is approx. 14-1/8" tall and 12-1/8" wide(shoulder to shoulder) It weighs just over 28 pounds. antique charcoal portraits- signed and dated 1888
Each portrait is 24 inches wide and 28 inches tall. They hung in my parent's home in the 1960's and prior to that belonged to my grandmother. I am not sure where she got them from. But if they are from her family, they came from upstate New York and could be from the Hayes/Webster/Elliott families. They are under glass, so there is a glare when I took the pictures. They appear to be in very good shape. With no damage obvious to me. The signature is in an old fashion cursive and appears to be something like"Eindsan" and they are dated 1888.

This is an original lithograph by Margaret W. Tarrant entitled. Peter's Friends" This is of Peter Pan at the Kensington Garden London Fairy Statue. On the back of the print it has the label as seen in the pic as well as Christmas 1939. I love those little additions that make antiques that much better in my opinion. It also has the sticker that says that the print was framed at J.H. Miller CO in Springfield, MA. The print is signed in the bottom left corner. The print shows no damage. The frame has some scratches but nothing too distracting. The size is 17"x12" I have had this print for quite some time but I am starting to get rid of some of my collection of antique lithographs that I own.
