This auction is for an antique oval brass picture frame. It is dated Pat. May 19. 1908. The frame is 4" 3 3/8" It has some scuffs as seen in the photo. No glass pane, I do not think it ever had one. Metal back just slides out for placement of picture. Someone had added the velvet piece, could easily be removed. The filigree is gilded and the metal is probably French white metal or spelter. The gilding appears to be the original finish. It has an easel style back and stands nicely. The glass and photograph slide in from the top. There is an original antique wedding photo, or cabinet card, on the inside. This lovely old frame measures approximately 8 1/4" high x 6 1/4" across. The viewing area is about 5" high x 3 1/2" across. It is in very good condition with the glass intact and all of the metal looks good. BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE TOOLED-DESIGN METAL FRAME– BRASS TONE WITH INSET BRASS TONE LINER INSIDE THE MOIRE MAT– Frame and contents weigh almost 2 pounds before any packing materials. Frame is circa 1930– 1940’s– the print is earlier and could be partially hand colored. The frame contains glass. The original velvet easel back in pretty good original condition, a moiré type mat w/ metal decoration, and a colored antique print of 2 women, probably 1860’s. Raised tooled design on all sides of the frame– the sides have a floral design that matches the floral appliqué on each corner. Antique print which is visible about 7 ¼ inches by just less 9 ¼ inches. The print is taped to the back of the mat– see photo. MEASUREMENTS: from the outside the measurements are 10 inches by 12 inches. With a piece of glass approximately the same size ... morethat slides into the frame from the lower back side. The glass, the mat, and the print are held in place by the easel back. The frame contains a moiré mat with an inset liner of brass tone metal. A few minor discolorations on the metal mat liner– would probably polish out. The metal frame is attracted by a magnet. The mat opening from the front is 7 ¼ inches by just less 9 ¼ inches. This frame resembles vanity accessories by Matson& Stylebuilt, but I can not find any makers mark. It is an antique silver color cast metal of some kind. A magnet will not stick to any of the metal. Old Antique Vintage Bubble Glass Religious Diorama with a metal frame
This antique piece has a very nice frame. The frame is metal with the flowers having the original green and pink coloring added to it. The edge is a hammered gold color. The metal back is secure although one of the metal flaps have dislodged but it does not effect the back staying one. There is a piece of wire for hanging. The frame can also be hung the other way. There is a hole in the frame for hanging vertical as well. The picture inside is of the last supper and is in good shape. The picture is framed with a wire and white/pink thread design that is very nice. The dried flowers has maintained their color nicely. This antique or vintage oval brass picture frame is 2 ¼ inches wide and 3 inches tall. And the viewable area is about 2 ½ inches tall and a little under 2 inches wide. It has a plain design with a beaded edge. And an easel back for standing. The back and glass just push out of the frame for inserting the picture. This is made from brass. Or a metal with a brass finish, I’m not sure which. The glass has quite a few chips around the edge which for the most part are covered by the frame. But there is one at the top that you can see if you are looking for it– see 2 photos with arrows of this one spot. It is more noticeable in the photos than it looks on the actual frame. The metal has a warm aged color that is darkened and somewhat uneven. Overall good vintage condition on this charming little frame. This is an awesome old picture frame. I've never seen one like it. Estate find! There is a picture of an older gentleman in a white suit& straw hat.very dapper. The photo has a little damage in lower right corner. But the real attraction here is the frame. It measures approx. 2" x 3" And stands on a tabletop, dressing table, etc. There is a glass in the frame. Not sure what kind of metal.brass maybe? bronze? I haven't cleaned or polished it. The patina from age is wonderful. There is a raised scrollwork pattern& finely crimped outer edge all around the frame. Please see all photos for best description. Beautifully crafted frame. Adorable little antique picture frame. Pretty embossed gold metal design on front& sides. Nice picture of the baby from the late 1800's. Measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 and the oval is just under 3x4. There is no glass. On the sides of the oval it is a mauve like fabric in nice condition. I don't think there is suppose to be glass. Picture is in very nice condition and frame is also. Sze is 9 x 11.5" outside and inside opening is 4x5.5" There is an arm at the back of one to stand it up. arm is missing on the other one. The decoration on these frames is 1/2" deep. These are two matching antique victorian brass filigree picture frames. They are very old and were acquired at an estate auction of a very prominent town citizen. Their features are many: convex glass. Beautiful filigree frame, center photo panel measuring 1-1/8" x 2-1/8" The frames themselves measure 4-1/8"x 5-1/8" 6-1/8" including the ornate top. The background panel is ivory velvet with handpainted rosebuds and leaves. The backing is dark green velvet and has the hanger attached to it- even the clips that hold the green back on have etchings on them. The center pictures are of beautiful victorian ladies. They are not original art works, but are very old lithos unsigned. The center photo insert is surrounded by a brass metal decorative oval.
