I am not a very“handy” type person and I cannot get the mirror inside this frame. It seems too wide. But I know that is just because I do not know how to secure it. This mirror definitely goes with this frame, so it has to fit. I know a“handy” type person could get it secured. If you are"unhandy. like me, you get 2 cool separate pieces! The frame is a cast iron or wrought iron black metal piece in very good condition– no rust– very good condition. The metal has a twisted ribbon like look. I have yet to find any maker’s mark on this piece. But it could be that I do not know where to look. Due to the design– a maker’s mark could be hidden. The mirror has a thick rough or scalloped type beveled edge. I was going to say no chips. But on closer I think there may possibly be a chip in one of the scallops. Rather hard to tell due to the decorative cut at the edges of the mirror. Also. As you can see, the silver or mercury backing has worn off in several places. It is an old piece. Exact age unknown– I do not know if this is an older vintage piece. As more of a 1950's Mid Century Modern, or if it is old antique– I assume collectors can tell by the mirror cut and the frame style- Size: The metal frame measures approx 12 3/4ths inches in length. The center cut-out measures approx 6 1/4 by 4 1/8th inches. The mirror measures approx 5 3/4ths by 3 5/8ths inches. It is approx 1/4 inch thick at the edges. Condition: The cast iron frame still looks very good. As you can see. The back of the mirror shows much wear. As stated above, the mirror has a thick rough beveled edge and it is difficult to tell, but there may be a chip on one of the scalloped edges. Simple woodwork on top and bottom panels with ... moreradial cutouts and a heart-shaped carved feature on top. There are radially chamfered moulding strips inside the frame and there is gold paint or gilding on them(Pic 4) There is a radial roll-off on the top and bottom panels(pic 3) The glass is silvered so the mirror couldn't have been made before 1835. The silver is missing or deteriorating- the glass is very fragile. The frame is probably made from pine. And there is a veneer about 1/16" thick on the face and sides. It is so dark it's hard to tell the wood, but it looks like cherry to me.The glass is held in by a series of triangular wooden pieces and the back is a shake shingle. By the holes and the brass studs in the frame, this was hinged at some time but has eyes and picture wire on it right now. A true antique and welcome addition to a collector. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE GILT WOOD GESSO PICTURE MIRROR WALL FRAME ORNATE 24"x32" LARGE
We are pleased to offer this very beautiful. C1920, antique frame. This frame offers solid gilt wood with gesso acanthus leaf accents in the corner sections. The frame features an outer design of small cut/incised acanthus leaves. There is a unique cut pattern to the wood in the center sections of the frame which gives it a"brushed" gold appearance. The inner section features small cut beads. The frame is very European in style and design. It is very beautiful and in very good condition. There are some very minor surface cracks to the gesso, as it quite common with pieces this old. They do not extend below the surface and do not affect the stability of the gesso. They are very hard to discern except upon very close inspection. The frame does not show its age at all and the gilted finish is incredible. The frame had an old picutre ... morein it which was not in good condition. There are traces of the old paper backing to the back of the frame. The frame retains the hangers and wire. This is a nice sized frame. The outer measurements are 24" x32" The inner dimensions are 20"x26" The frame is 1.25" in thickness at the corners and.75" elsewhere. Very good condition small flaking that is hardly noticeable. Authentic deep lemon gold leaf frame with great patina. Measures 17 1/4” X 20 1/4” on the outside and inside 16” X 13” It currently has a mirror on it you can choose to have it sent with it or not. The black spot at the bottom of the mirror in one picture is a reflection of the ceiling fixture. The mirror is new and perfect. The molding is approx. 5 1/2 inches wide. The rabbet opening on the back is approx. 24 by 30 inches. The sight molding opening is approx. 34 1/4 by 40 1/4 inches. This frame has an untouched surface of gold leaf that has been"antiqued" with a flat center panel that has been paint decorated. The color is quite beautiful and would be perfect for anything from a Picasso print to an old master painting. It would also make a great mirror frame. The frame is wood with built up gesso molding in an early Italianate style. CONDITION: Fair to good. There is some light wear to the finish on the outer edges but this only seems to enhance the"antique" look of ... morethe frame. There are no missing pieces and the frame is quite strong and sturdy. It would easily hold a mirror. The rabbet opening on the back has been widened by chiseling out the back of the sight molding on the top and right side as you look at the back of the frame. This is an early solid oak shaving mirror. It still has it's original shellac finish which looks to be in good shape for it's age. It has a lower compartment to hold your shaving items like a straight razor. Shaving soap, and brush. Could also have been used to hold toothbrush items. This frame has lots of character. It is just how I found it. With plenty of patina, dust, and even some old cobwebs. The frame seems to be solid, and in good condition. Judging by the hardware and construction, I believe it is probably late 1800's(but I am no expert) I think it was a mirror frame, but would make a beautiful picture or painting frame. Antique Empire Regency Gilt Looking Glass Mirror Picture Frame Rope Twist Column
This superior ca. 1825-1845 pier glass frame is missing its dividing muntin. So could easily be hung as an over mantel. It is crafted of pine and poplar with worn middle to late 1800s dark glaze(to imitate wood) over brilliant original metal leaf and measures 39” x 19 ¾” x 2 ¾” deep overall with 33” x 14” reveal and 33 ¾” x 14 3/8” back rabbet opening. The surface is dirty and stable and very hard to describe: at time smoky brown and dull with some shiny areas of glaze punctuated by bright gold leaf gleaming through in areas of wear. It is very striking. One of the brass corner rosettes is gone and there is no mirror glass or backing board. If you wish to restore to the original bright gold, I suspect this layer could be removed without significantly damaging the leaf. Thr frame is sturdy and usable. And has a beaded inner border, a floral swag border, then the ornate, open scrollwork. Missing two of the three swivel clasps that hold the photograph in place. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The outside of the frame measures approx 29wide x 21in tall without the pediment.And with the pediment its 24 1/4in. The frame has rounded corners,and the inside would hold a picture that measures 17 1/2 x 25 5/8in,and the lip measures 3/8ths in wide. The ornate part is cracked where the pediment meets the frame. There are also a few missing pieces in this general region. The piece could be repaired fairly easily for a person with some knowledge on Mold making. The frame is a gold radiator paint color,and has multiple layers of old paint. There is a one inch long chip on the right side,and a few smaller chips along the frames edge,a little sanding would remove the chips. The piece needs a little TLC and a cleaning. This Victorian GILT triple frame for pictures or mirrors dates from the mid to late 1800's. It is in great condition considering it's age with a small area of"old damage" as seen on the corners in the pictures and a tiny spot on the edge. The damage is hardly noticeable but I always state everything. It measures 27" by 22 1/2" outside and the inside opening is 19 1/2" X 15 1/2" It would hold a 16" X 20" painting. Listed for sale is a Victorian. Pittsburg Lamp and Brass Company Picture/Mirror Frame. It is gold plated cast iron. It has the number 1060 and the PLB Co stamped in the cast iron on the back, see picture#3. It also still has a original paper label on it, that says Genuine Gold Plate, Pittsburg Lamp and Brass Co. This is a very unusual and original piece. It had a broken mirror in it when I bought it years ago. Never did get it replaced. It is in excellent condition except for wear to the plating. It has a mirror on the reverse side and it could stand to be re-silvered. It has a lot worn off. It just has a little picture of Shirley Temple in it and you can take it out and put your own pic in. Up for sale is a very old victorian style wooden picture/mirror frame. I am not sure of its age but it was my grandmothers and she had it for a quite a bit. This frame measures 26 1/2 inches by 30 1/2 inches from one exterior edge to the other. The inside measures 19.5 by 15.5 inches as is visible on the exterior. The frame will hold a 16 by 20 inch piece or art or mirror. The frames protrudes about 2 1/2 inches from the wall. It need a new hanging wire. Please hang it in a stud as it alone weight about 8 pounds. I love it but I just have no place for it. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions! FYI. Gorgeous Large Vintage Wood Picture, Art, Mirror Gold & Cream Frame
Absolutely Stunning Vintage Frame It has a wood frame. But I believe the ornate detail on the front is possibly a wood composition with the edges& corners having the look of gesso. It is so hard to tell for sure. Estate sale purchase so history& age are unknown. It was housing some prints that look to be from possibly the 1940's. It has a cream colored base with a gold gilt rub over the entire frame accentuating the beautiful detail of the frame. Overall in very good vintage condition with no missing accent pieces. You can see an few places where there is some light cracking of the accent edging that can be expected with age. The frames joints are sturdy. There is some rubbing of the gold finish on the edges.
