There is a price tag from some point in time that I left attached in case it has any identifiable information that can help with provenance. Otherwise, please know that the piece has a multitude of pin holes in the back from being hung up over the years. Two of the corners are chipped and losing their black paint. The carving itself, however, is stunning and in great condition.

The outer dimensions of this antique frame are approx. 21 3/4" x 25 3/4" The inside dimensions. What size print will fit, are approx. 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" of course, you could also use a mat) The ornate borders are wood, most of the ones you find have a plaster or gesso that is molded to shape. I would assume that this was not an inexpensive frame in it's day. It is in super condition, with only very slight blemishes- VERY slight. Thanks for viewing this auction.

I acquired this at sale of the estate. It was said to be late 19th century. Certainly no later than 1910. We are unsure of the age of the glass. The viewing surface has all the oxidation wear of a vintage old glass mirror. The back of the mirror is pristine. We are unsure if this is because this mirror hung undisturbed for a generation in the same spot or if the glass was replaced. The star of this sale is of course the carved wooden frame. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE. OLD, FRAME! We are pleased to offer this antique, carved wood, LARGE picture or mirror wall frame. This gorgeous and intricate frame is either walnut, rosewood or, possibly, mahogany. It has a rich brown color with a hint of red. It is not heavily grained. The frame is quite intricately detailed. A gilted eagle is perched on top. His wings are erect and partially span. He is facing to the right and upward. His talons are wrapped around a small branch. The frame has a small urn on each upper side with a blooming plant. Acanthus leaves and roses trail and curve along each side. The bottom is ornate with acanthus and scrolling details as well a small center urn. The frame is really beautifully done. It appears to have been done in four sections. The backing is a beautiful piece of cherry wood. This is an amazing frame ... morewith unbelievable craftsmanship. It is quite old and dates to the late 1800s. The frame is in very good condition for its age. If you look closely, you can see the lines where the frame was put together. This, in no way, distracts from the frame and a little wood filler would take care of this if you so choose. The frame is very structurally sturdy with no looseness in the carved areas. The back has 4 large brass holders which keep the backing securely in place. There were five and one is missing. However, the backing is quite secure. There is a wire attached for hanging. The frame has no major scratches and has no chips. It is really, REALLY in good condition. STUNNING! The frame is very large and measures 36.25" tall and it is 17.75" wide at the widest measurement. Still in lovely condition for a really old piece and still usable shape with just a little TLC. The worst feature on the surface is some tape residue that I did not attempt to remove, It has a blue velvet matt still in it where it looks like a small square picture was attached. the oval wooden backing piece is broken in half. Oval opening is about 5 by 6 inches. With a total size of 8 by 10.5 inches. Antique Gold Gilt Carved Wood Picture Frame w Makers Mark, Oil Painting
This is a beautiful old frame. It measure 16" X 14" to the outside edge; the opening is 9 1/2" X 11 1/2" from the back side. The frame from the wall is 2 1/4" deep, with the picture insert it is 3" deep. There is an inside frame that is covered in linen I believe. The frame is hand carved; check the pictures closely. There is a makers mark on the backside of the frame in red; see picture 6. The oil painting in the frame is signed but you cannot see the entire signature.I did not remove it from the frame as I did not want to damage anything. Antique 24x36 Arts Crafts Bronze Gilt Picture Frame Old Surface Carved Wood
This handsome ca. 1915-1935 all wood molding retains its original bronze gilt surface and measures 40 ¼” x 28 ¼” overall with 35 ½” x 23 ½” reveal and 36 1/8” x 24 1/8” rabbet. It is dirty. Both have very old dirty refinished surfaces and one measure 14 ½” x 10 ½” with 11 5/8” x 7 5/8” reveal and 12” x 8” rabbet(8x12) and 12 7/8” x 15” with 11 1/2” x 9 1/2” and 12” x 10” x ¾” deep rabbet(10x12) Both are sturdy with miter gaps and need to be cleaned up. LG ANTIQUE GOLD TONE CARVED GESSO & WOOD FRAME 28" by 34" w/ opening 18+" X 24"
LARGE GOLD TONE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WOOD FRAME WITH GESSO CARVING. 28 inches by 34 inches, measured from the outside. An impressive frame that needs very little restoration. Gold tone finish on the frame– probably not gold leaf– the finish may be original. Or if not, was redone many, many years ago. The finish seems almost a little dull– not the crispness you see with gold leaf. Frame is circa 1880– 1910’s. Details: Frame weighs about 9– 10 pounds before any packing materials. No glass. No backing. Frame only. A little gesso is missing and there are some cracks in the gesso at the corners of the frame. Some discolorations and dark spots on the gold tone finish. Corners don’t wiggle– frame seems tight. No loose pieces of carving. Two small spaces on corners of the very inside liner. Near where the contents would be– no wiggle at any of the corners, ... moreso the space is maybe from a little missing gesso. MEASUREMENTS: INSIDE OPENING measurements are just over 18 inches by 24 inches. Frame can be used horizontally or vertically. ALL SALES FINAL. I am selling items that are close to a hundred years old. Naturally there will be irregularities and flaws in the wood. Just because of the age. SPECTACULAR! ANTIQUE CARVED GILT WOOD HUGE 40.5x35" FRENCH ITALIAN PICTURE FRAME
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE. RARE, ANTIQUE FRAME! We are pleased to offer this exceptional, LARGE, antique wall frame. This stunning frame is solid wood which is carved in a French or Italian, acanthus scroll design. The carvings are beautifully executed and are open. The frame is in 4 distinct sections that have been joined together to complete the piece. The wood has a gold gilded finish which is not too shiny or too gold but has a more of a golden bronze color. The narrow interior section is an antique white painted finish. The frame retains the original wire hangers and the hanging wire. There is no glass. There are remnants of the original paper backing and some tape that was used to hold the paper to the wood. The frame is in very good condition. You can see where the sections come together, but the frame is quite sturdy and is not loose, ... morenor does it give at these areas. This is a beautiful, classic frame with extraordinary and timeless character. Superb! Please note that the miniature schnauzer in picture#2 is NOT included with the frame. He does. However give you a sense of the size of the frame as he is a big guy as well! The frame is 40.5" tall and 35" wide at the widest. Center point. The opening is 30 and 1/8" tall and 24.25" wide.
