Antique 19th Century Victorian Wood & Gesso Picture Frame Gilt Gold with Glass
Antique Victorian picture frame made of wood and gesso. It has an ornate design with some gilt. The frame measures 14-5/8" x 17-3/4" It does come with glass that is held in by nails on the back. The glass portion measures approximately 11 inches by almost 14 inches. There is a wire attached to the back for hanging. Overall this frame is pretty good condition with most of that gesso in tact. However it does show signs of age and wear. There are some small cracks in the gesso And some old green paint along the top. The glass does have one scratch. There os a picture. Gorgeous Antique 19th Century Victorian Gold Gilt Frame
This is a truly stunning antique late 19th century Victorian gold gilt frame. This frame will bring any oil painting you have alive! The overall frame measures 22 1/8 inches x 19 5/8 inches(56.2 cm x 50 cm) The back opening measures 10 3/4 inches x 8 1/4 inches(27.3 cm x 21 cm) The width is an incredible 6 inches(15.2 cm) It is made from three sections to form a super wide frame. It has some minor damage. One inside corner has a missing piece of composition about one quarter inch(64 cm) wide and the other corner has a tiny crack in it about 1 inch long(2.54 cm) There are a couple of pieces chipped off the composition and a very small amount of touchup in one corner on the outside. Please see the photos. Some of the gilding has been worn off in a few areas. Most notably the interior beading. I'm being very picky about the damage. This approx. 14" x 12" antique. Oval, gilded wood picture frame with gesso ornaments, was hand made in the"FRAMES and LOOKING GLASSES" workshop of APC Bonte in Cincinnati, Ohio in the second half of the nineteenth century. Part of the original label is still can be seen on the back. I do not know if the picture of a mother and her son in the 9 1/2" opening is also a period antique, but I am positive that the black touch-ups on it were not made by Photoshop or Corel Draw. The frame and the picture is in very good to excellent condition, but the gesso decoration was shaved off from the outer rim of the frame for some times ago. This frame is in fine condition, as nice as these come. Comes with glass. Rare Antique Mid 19th Century Oval Brass Shell On Wood Frame (#2)
Please note that I will be listing two of these frames separately tonight. One a little larger than the other. This one is the larger one. This is a rare antique mid-19th-century oval brass shell on wood frame. It dates from the 1840s. It measures 14 7/8" x 13 1/4" 37.8 cm x 33.7 cm) It fits a picture size 12 1/4" x 10 1/2" 31 cm x 26.7 cm) The molding is 1 5/8" wide(4.1 cm) This is an American frame made of a brass shell molding. Which is crimped over the sides of the wood molding. As you can see in the photos. The wood has shrunk a bit leaving two thin openings. But these do not affect the sturdiness of the frame at all. The photos of the various sections of the frame aren't in any particular order. As I was getting confused! There are two small dents on it. There are also four small reverse dents. On about ... morehalf of the outer rim there is a light reddish color that has developed. I believe it's from age(please see photo) I don't feel these take away from the old world feel of the frame. This is an almost exact pair of antique mid-19th century silver gilded lemon gold frames. They were both covered in paint and were professionally stripped to bring out the original silver gilding. As a result of the stripping. Some of the silver gilding came off, mostly on the raised edges of the frame molding. Also, some of the paint couldn't be removed, but it tends to blend in with the frames. Overall. One measures 14 3/4 inches x 19 1/4 inches(37.47 cm x 48.9 cm) It fits a picture measuring 10 5/8 inches x 15 1/8 inches(27 cm x 38.42 cm) It's molding width measures 2 1/2 inches(6.35 cm) The other is similar in size. This is an antique 19th-century walnut fluted cove deepwell Hudson River School frame. I would date it 1860s to 1870s. Overall. The frame measures 20 1/8 inches by 16 15/16 inches(51.1 cm x 43 cm) The back opening size is 14 7/8 inches by 11 5/8 inches(37.8 cm x 29.5 cm) The molding width measures 2 7/8 inches(7.3 cm) The frame itself is fairly thick at 2 1/8 inches(5.4 cm) It has its original finish. Some of it has worn off or has been lightly scratched off. There are two areas right next to each other where the finish is a little discolored along the fluted cove section(please see photos) There are a number of tiny chips or dings to the finish. Small Antique Mid 19th Century Mahogany Veneer Frame Lemon Gold Gilt Liner
This is a small antique mid-19th century period mahogany or possibly rosewood veneer frame with a lemon gold gilt liner. It dates from around the 1840s to 1850s. And possibly earlier. It has a lovely old finish. But given its age. It has a number of small imperfections. But the overall look is quite beautiful. Overall. The frame measures 6 3/4 inches by 10 9/16 inches(17.2 cm x 26.8 cm) The back opening size is 4 7/8 inches by 8 3/4 inches(12.4 cm x 22.2 cm) The molding width measures 1 5/8 inches(4.3 cm) The frame itself is very thick at 1 3/8 inches(3.5 cm) The issues: there is a slight separation at each of the corners where the wood meets. It has a tiny dent in the top left-hand corner of the frame. It has numerous light scratches on it. But the veneer is fairly thick so they still look dark. There is an approximately 1/4 inch by 1/8 ... moreinch chip in one corner of the frame. Next to it are some dents and small scratches(please see photos) The liner is worn at places and the gray is showing through. It has half of the original hanging piece on the back. But is missing the ring part. You can see the sheets of gilding on the liner. The liner has a tiny chip in one corner and two in another corner(please see photos) I believe there was glass at the front. Then something sitting in it, and then a back to keep it in place, forming a shadowbox(please see photo) The back itself is made deep by an additional layer of wood attached to it. I've secured the liner in place with frame staples. It has its original wavy and bubbled glass. But it has some scratches and scuff marks to it. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It weighs just over 1 pound(454 g) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look! Super 19th century marbelized outer-inner picture frame--black trim--nice size
You are looking at a beautiful Victorian marbelized picture in the tan tones with black outline-as you can see from photos there are a couple of areas taht need a touch-up but guess that is to be expected after 140 years or so.all in all it's really in excellent shape. The size is really nice as well-outer 12 1/2 by 10 and the inner size is 7 1/2 by 9 1/4. Super 19th century marbelized outer-inner picture frame--black trim--#2 larger
This is the larger of the two Victorian marbelized frames that I have listed this week-this one is 12x14 1/4 outer and 8 by 10 inner area. The frame is Victorian and about 150 years old and does in fact have some minor damage-note in the photos the areas that need restoration-could easily beused as is however. Both frames came out of a hill area house in Burlington Vermont where I attended an on site auction earlier in the year. I will be listing a few more frames from that estate next week. Pair Antique 19th Century Dutch German Geometric Painted Woodgrain Finish Frames
This is a very cool looking pair of antique late 19th-century Dutch or German geometric painted woodgrain finish frames. The three dimensional aspect of these frames is quite intriguing. I believe these are particularly rare. Especially to find a pair. Overall. Each measures 19.25" x 21.75" 48.9 cm x 55.25 cm) Their back opening size is 14.5" x 17" 36.83 cm x 43.18 cm) The molding widths vary. At the center of each side it is just under 2" 5.08 cm) Around the corners the molding is wider and measures 2 5/8" 6.67 cm) Unlike late 19th century American frames where the wood is covered in white gesso and then faux grainwood painted. These are covered in a dark gray gesso and then faux painted. So where there are chips to the finish, a dark gray comes through. And there are numerous chips. It would be impossible for ... moreme to point out all of them. So please look closely at the photos to get a feel of the damage. I've seen frames like these in the past, and they always have many chips on them. But the overall look of this pair is really beautiful. They each have their original wavy glass. Oddly enough. One weighs 3 lbs. 13.8 oz. 1.754 kg) and the other weighs 4 pounds 4.3 ounces(1.936 kg) I think one may have a thicker and heavier piece of glass than the other, because the frames themselves are identical. This is a great-shaped antique early 19th-century Sully gold gilded frame. It dates circa 1820s. Overall. It measures 17 3/8" x 18 3/8" 44.13 cm x 46.67 cm) The back opening size is 12" x 13" 30.48 cm x 33.02 cm) It has substantial width at 3" 7.62 cm) As you can see in the photos. There is a lot of damage to the left side of the molding. There is also wear along the inner site edge of the frame, with the white gesso showing in places. There is chipping along most of the exterior of the frame molding. It does have a number of pluses. It has its original ring hook on the back. It has hand forged nails. It has that wonderful yellow paint on the sides that was used during this period. And it has great lines. It has what I believe to be the original glass. Which is very wavy and has numerous bubbles. This is an antique Italian late 18th or early 19th century gold gilded carved frame. Overall. This is one great-looking frame. However. It does have a few flaws. Mostly, there are about a dozen spots where the gold is chipped off. This will need some type of retouching. On the bottom piece of the molding there is a 1/4 inch round piece of gold missing also(64 cm) There are also a few tiny nicks on it. But they are simply age-related for an antique frame. On the back of the frame. Someone wrote in pencil many years ago Tuscan School 18th century. There is also an odd piece of cork along the bottom piece of the molding in the rear. Along the ... moretop and to the side there are numbers written which I believe signify the frame came from a museum and was deaccessioned at one point. Along the top molding in the rear there is a triangle shape with three holes in it where I believe there was one of the early handwrought hooks that are found in frames of this age. Selling a stunning. All original, late 19th century German Black forest hand carved wood picture frame in an excellent state of preservation and the slightly worn original finish. The frame is approximately 13 1/4" by 16" inches. Inside dimensions are about 10 3/8" by 8 1/2" which is the size of the opening on the back, you'd need glass cut this size. pair of 19th Century Nautical Watercolors 13 3/4" square Framed in original frames.which need repair or changing. I believe these are English watercolurs.they are quite old& so's the frame they're in.please read the description above for the frame.The watercolors are unsigned but very well done. either you can reframe them with new frames.or just"paint" over the white gesso where it's flaked off. Postage is just an estimate. Magnificent antique 19th Century original gold gilt gesso frame
Frame is 21 Inches long x13 1/4 high.there's a"wood knot" out of the top right corner. I just noticed.not really visible from the front.nor does it detract from the frame.a PRINT inside the frame.marked Bowers.it's the FRAME that's the main item here.A beautiful gesso frame.I'm sure the print was added later.there's some gesso missing, please look at the pictures. However, this frame has NOT been over painted& is the original gilt.it's a stunning frame. Also. I noted above, during shipment, some of the gesso may come loose, I will wrap very carefully.just please be aware.
