A beautiful completely hand made antique Chinese lidded wedding basket. The basket has a double walled wooden body and lid with a large carrying handle made of three wide strips of bamboo. The handle is securely fastened to the box and has added metal rosetta screws on the lower ends. To the top of handle is a separate smaller decorative hand forged metal handle again fastened with metal rosetta screws. The lid has hand painted. Albeit somewhat faded, dancing figures in the centre. Lid is encased with a thin metal wire. Chinese characters are hand painted on both sides of the handle as well as under the lid. The box has a 1 ¾” high footed base. There are no Chinese translations that suitably describe these types of baskets although they really are boxes. The reddish brown colour is normally associated with Chinese weddings and Chinese New Years. They were originally filled with dried fruits. Nuts and sweets and brought to the bride and groom. They were also often used as gift boxes at Chinese New Year celebrations. Basket/Box. Including handle, measures 13.5" 34cm) in height and 11" 28cm) in diameter. It weighs about 2.8 lbs or 1.3 kg. It is in very good condition for its age of over 100 years. As mentioned. There is some paint loss on the lid, also, one rosetta screw on the lower handle is missing. There are a couple of age related splits in the wood on the lid one on the inside of the body. Nevertheless. Still a very attractive accent to any interior. Here is a beautiful large glass flower basket vase. Typically Victorian. Height overall is 13" Lovely condition. Very slight water marking near the bottom of the vase. Good wear marking to base. There is a very very slight dink in the rim which I actually can't see but can feel if I run my fingers around the rim. I've done my best to photograph this but it really is very tiny. This is a really nice piece of Victorian glass. Matchbox included in photo to show scale. Description This antique circa 1860-80's EAPG early American pressed glass jelly compote. Is of large very heavy footed form with deeply moulded rounded bowl of lotus flowering buds and bubbles. The bowl is on a thick solid glass nine sided stem and spreading domed foot with lotus bud border similar to egg and tongue design. This seriously impressive piece of early pressed glass is apparently unmarked. There are some bubbles and little bits of kiln material trapped in the glass body, there are also some surface creases and shear marks to the inside of the bowl from manufacture. It is in good condition with only one small shallow chip to the outer edge of the petaled rim and a little bruise chip and some tiny nicks to the bottom edge of the well worn, ground and polished foot rim base. Victorian Cut Crystal Glass Water Carafe/ Decanter with Flower Design C.1900 This is a good late nineteenth century carafe of globular form on a broad foot. It has a band of cut leaves and flowers around the sides and a line of cut dots on the neck- the flowers are oddly bent back in an almost art nouveau whiplash. The base has a ground and polished pontil mark. This is good quality hand blown& hand cut glass and dates from between about 1890 and 1910. Being a carafe for water rather than a wine decanter it was not designed to have and has never had a stopper. Size: 15 cm high- about 6 inches Weight: 359 grammes Condition: There is wear on the base from use as you would expect. And some minor scuffing and scratching on the surface- but no damage. The hand blown paperweight measures 7 cms in diameter. The paperweight is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or damage apart from a few very light wear scratches on the flat polished base as pictured. Antique Victorian Cut Creamer/Milk Jug; Lotus/Water Lily Flower Covering all Jug
This is a lovely cut glass creamer or milk jug. It is deeply cut. Showing a water lily or lotus flower. The design starts from the centre of the base and continues up the sides. The pouring lip has pattern of seven cuts underneath it. The cut'leaves' of the flowers have not been polished after cutting to highlight them and the centre of the flower is a small star. The handle has been flatten during formation, which allows the creamer to be turned upside down with some degree of stability, presumably to assist in draining. It is not marked to denote it's origin, but I think it is English and produced at the turn of the 19th/20th century. The creamer is generally in good condition. There is some wear on the base and a few nibbles under the lip. But unfortunately a large crack around the handle. Because of the cutting. I did not ... morenotice it for some months after purchase. The creamer weighs about 395 grams and is approximately 13 cm in length. Because of the large weight of this item; If somebody outside of mainland UK wishes to bid. ETCHED BLOWN GLASS CRUET WITH FLOWER AND FERNS
very pretty cruet. Blown glass with applied handle measures 6 1/4" to top of handle, 6 3/4" to top of stopper this is old as I remember it when I was a little girl and I believe that it was old when it was given to my mother(I was a little girl in the early 40's) I do not know if the stopper is original it is the one it has always had while in our possession but I don't really think it fits just right. It does the job though- the design is a large flower with broad leaves and fern leaves around it, it is the same design on both sides and is a very pretty, graceful design thank you for looking!

Beautifully Etched Victorian Sweetmeat Dish. This has a leaf and flower pattern around the bowl. A plain stem and a plain base. The base has a polished pontil mark, associated with its age. I'd date this to the late Victorian Period. Hgt- 10cm Wdth- 11.5cm In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. I've collected glass for almost twenty years- but I no longer have the space! Overall, they all appear to be in wonderful condition, except the tip of one of the leaves is broken off, a stem of another has come off, and the red tulip's stem is not complete. At first, I wondered if it was meant to be shorter than the others for variance of height, but I can see where it had come off. Antique Large Ormolu Covered Satin Glass Box Peking Glass Jade Flower Top Czech?
DESCRIPTION: Offered here is a beautiful early 1900s large covered Satin or frosted glass box with lid. This box is ornately decorated with an ornate antique golden bronze heavy ormolu decoration. The entire lid is rimmed and has a center ormolu that is set with a carved Peking Jade glass Floral jewel. This box measures 7" in total length and is 4" wide at the feet. It stands 2 3/4" in height. The inside is divided into three compartment as pictured. This perhaps was a cigarette or dresser box. It would be ideal as a jewel chest or keepsake box. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs to the frosted satin glass. The ormolu is also very ornate and in very good condition with no losses. The only thing I notice is the Jadeite glass is prong set and there are two missing prongs. The carved floral ornament is still tight. Please view ... morephotos and if you have any questions just ask. This was purchased from a fine antique estate and I believe it is probably from Czechoslovakia. That is my best guess.
