This box is ornately decorated in high relief on all four sides and the cover with fabulous Naked Children. Cherubs or Putti in different poses. Please view and enlarge photos as the casting in this box is truly magnificent. This is a fairly large and very heavy jewel casket. The box measures 7" in length by 3" wide and stands 2 3/4" in height. It has a working lock on the front and is complete with working original key. The interior is lined with a dark blue velvet material that is very clean and in excellent condition. There is no damage to note as this was always treasured and well cared for. There is some normal age related wear to the Bronze gilt. The box weighs close to 3 pounds before packing. Made of brilliant gilt bronze, by Alexandre Chertier(French, 1825- 1890) Chertier, a specialist in ecclesiastical work in silver and bronze received a gold medal as coopirateur at the Exposition Universelle of 1855 while working as foreman at the House of Bachelet in Paris. In 1857 he founded his own firm at 48, rue Mazarin, moving to 7, rue Firu in 1866. His important works, produced after 1870, include those for the church of Mont-Saint-Michel, and for the cathedrals of Saint-Omer, Reims, Moulins and Strasbourg. This substantialy made bronze stand measures 9.5 inches high. 15 x 17 inches at the base, 12 x13.5 at the top. I have pictured it with a modern marble top, which I will include if requested. I do not believe the original piece ever had such a top, but it helps accomodate a larger size of sculpture

They are made of very heavy paper and are in excellent condition. They were bought by my mother in a Paris flea market in the 1960's and framed later in the 1970's. They were never printed with advertising. The gold accents are raised. These are not any kind of reproduction but guaranteed authentic antiques. Size is 16 1/2" x 22" I have not removed them from the frame. They are mounted on a white background. The card is only the colored part. Will sell separately. Vintage or Antique Brass French Picture Frame With Old Photo Gilt Gold - Chic!
This is really neat! It's an old vintage. Possibly antique but I'm unsure how to tell it's age, picture frame, marked'Made In France' on the back. I think it's brass with gold gilt, but I'm not sure- you'll have to look at the pictures and judge for yourself. p It's got an interesting easel back, and also has an intriguing old black and white photo of a girl in it, which looks like it might have another photo underneath, but I've not taken it apart to find out- I'll leave that mystery up to its new owner. The glass is there, but it does have a small crack on the right side- you can see it in the pictures, to the right of the photograph. It has exquisite detailing, and a pretty French bow on top. It's clear-out time here. I can't remember where this came from. Possibly one of my Mum's forays to Joel's Auction house. I don't know enough about it- is it bronze? It's incredibly heavy for its size. Very ornate in a Rococco style, with a cherub at the top. It's about 30 cm from the highest point to the longest parts of the bottom. It weighs about 1.2 kg. This lovely souvenir of France for the Grand Tour traveler consist of a Brass Ormolu decorated framed Mother of Pearl Shell which opens to reveal two Brass Ormolu decorated Baskets holding two original brass hinged& capped glass Perfume Bottles. The Opening Mechanism features a Brass Flower& Bird Finial. Bottom of Item is decorated with two smaller half shell MOP pieces. One on each side, framed& secured with encircling leaf decorated Brass. The entire MOP Shell Pefume ETUI is secured to an oval shaped Alabaster Plinth. The Antique French Palais Royal Souvenir measures approximatley 7" tall. Measuring ... moreto the top of the Finial. The MOP Egg is approximately 4 1/4" tall, and 3" wide. Measuring from the bottom of the Alabaster Plinth to the top of the MOP Egg- approximately 6" And the oval Alabaster base measures about 5" across and is approximately 3" wide. Condition: The Brass framework and decorative Ormolu Brass has aged. And has an age related darkened patina in most areas. One of the smaller MOP Shells at the bottom of item is missing a 3/8" wide area of the shell, see picture#10) Overall the Mother of Pearl Shells are in good condition, intact and having beautiful Pearlescent Rainbow Lustre coloring. One of the Perfume Bottles Brass Caps has some corrosion at the back. Just above the hinge. The hinge is also a bit bent, however the cap opens and closes fine. This same Perfume Bottle has visible residue inside the bottle, most of it is on the glass and can be cleaned, See picture#8, bottle on the left. Condition: Etui is in fair condition considerate of age. As it probably dates to the late 1700's- early 1800's, and is in need of some professional restoration. Shagreen is separated in some areas. Split on one side, abrasions/loss to the other, and is soiled. Two utensils are missing. There is a place for scissors, and one other tool. Clasp shuts. But does not lock. Here comes a rare french antique cornopean. Which was the ancestor of the modern cornet. The valve system was a new invention in the earlier 19th century, the way it worked can be studied with those original valves. There are no missing parts except the short leadpipe. Which can be replaced by any older french cornet leadpipe. The tuning slide moves freely. The other slides are stuck. The valves seem to be in working order, they move freely- it's very interesting to see that the second valve is the thickest, due to 2 air passages(valve 1 and 3 only have one) There is a patch on the main crook and on valve slide two. No visible corrosion or red hot. But some damaged aeras with thin cracks in the metal. On the bell. It says: Gautrot Breveté à Paris" and an icon that has G-A and a littly anchor. GAUTROT PARIS was 1845 specializing ... morein brass musical instruments and claimed to be the most important factory of its kind in Europe. According to the New Langwill Index of musical wind instruments. Famous constructions were next to the Cornopean the Orphocleide. This is definitely a precious collectors item- nice to have for every serious collector of antique european brass musical instruments. Antique French Limoges Enamel on copper Plaque- Portrait of St. Augustine. By Mettie E. Webb, dated 1-5-05 We are pleased to present this lovely French Limoges enamel painted plaque of St. Augustine. The enamel painting utilizes the earlier'grisaille' or grey tone on black style along with the colored enamels on foil technique which was a little later. Also highlighted by a trace amount of gold gilding on the edge of the helmet and used in signing the artist's name and date. The handsome portrait of the man is very well executed by the artist. We were fortunate in having found this piece along with bits of information that helps us with knowing what the title of the painting was as well as the artist name and date on the front. The remnants of the label attached to the backside reads: No. 73/ LIGHT(I) St. Augustin(e) ... moreBequeathed by METTIE E. WEBB" Please see photos. The plaque is framed in its original decorated frame of gesso wood with a tooled leather liner. Please refer to the photos for the details of the frame and portrait. The backside is worn, faded and has had earlier repairs to the hinge stand. Measurements: The plaque itself measures approximately 5 inches in height x 3 3/4 inches in width. The framed image is approximately 10 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Condition: The enamel plaque is in very good condition with only slight wear to some of the gilding on the helmet. No Chips. Cracks, scratches or repairs or restorations were noted. The frame is another issue in itself. The gesso wood trim surrounding the portrait has a 3/4 inch piece missing. This trim is cracked in several places but the pieces are pretty much still intact. There are small chips and flakes around the edges of the frame as well. The silk material backside is worn and faded. The hinge stand has been repaired earlier, but is again in need of some attention. ANTIQUE FRENCH ENAMEL & MOTHER OF PEARL OPERA GLASSES - STUNNING! CIRCA 1880
These are absolutely STUNNING French opera glasses that I have had displayed with a large French doll until recent times. It is now time for them to find a new home. They measure across in diameter approximately 10cm(4" at their widest point. They stand in height approximately 7cm(3 3/4" with the lenses in. They were produced in France although there are no markings. They have been enameled in porcelain and are a vivid blue. Then they have been handpainted with delicate flowers and beading. They have been dated to Circa 1880 or earlier. The outer parts of the glasses are made from brass with mother of pearl at the end of the lenses as well as in the centre to turn the lenses up or down. These are priced extremely cheaply as there is damage on one side(see photo) I have been told this can be repaired but never bothered with researching ... morewhere to get this done as I loved them as they were and the damage could not be seen when they were on display. Antique French Gilt Bronze Glass Beveled Box with Lid - For repair-
Up for your consideration is an old french gilt bronze round beveled glass box. The gilded ornate bronze mount is unset or unglued from the glass box. The glass is in excellent condition but the gilded bronze metal shows some wear and it needs to be attached or glued to the glass box( see photos as part of description) The name baccarat was hand written in scratched letters at the bottom edge of the glass box. Done by some one in the past to identify the glass box as baccarat. The glass box measures 2 3/4 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter at the box rim. Not including the gilded bronze metal and the lid. this auction is for a porcelain and metal reticulated compote in the empire style. it is 8.25 inches across the top and 3 inches tall. the metal base is 5.75 inches wide. it is held together with a nut and bolt. no chips.
