15.5 inches long are the the two books x 10 inches wide across and almost 5 inches high closed. When it is open it is the size of a normal board and very deep. Wood and leather. Great and Unusual Antique Faux Tortoise Shell Gold Inlaid Compact Eyeglass Case
This is a unique and interesting find fresh out of an estate. I believe it is an eyeglass case but it could also be used as a small purse or cigarette case. It appears to be faux tortoiseshell with gold filled accents and decorations. There is a crest. Which has a slight dent in it, with a monogram which appears to be"GFM" Please use your judgment. The case has a piano hinge which is strong and secure. The clasp still functions properly. It also expands slightly like an accordion to accommodate the contents. The back has a cluster of inlaid flowers in gold and silver. One of them is missing. It measures 5 3/4" x 3" x 1 1/4" It is in overall very good condition with some minor surface scratches and wear. The exquisite craftsmanship of this faux tortoise shell French necessaire or note book is evident all over. The front is delicately inlaid with gold and abalone cartouches and flowers as well as three dainty tendrils that flow down to end in small drops of abalone. The piece has three moire silk loops. Which are held together with a dainty pencil. The inside is lined with the same butterscotch moire silk. The condition of this piece is excellent, all the inlays are secure and not loose or lifting and the silk lining is in excellent condition. The only flaws I see are a small flake to the side of the front and some very minor wear to the silk where the pencil slides in(the pencil also has some loss of paint) This is a piece worthy of any collection and could also be used: standard business cards fit perfectly. Original, scrimshaw, handmade, likely dating to the late 1800's. Note that there are differences between the two images, although they appear identical at first glance. These S&P shakers are quite small. Measuring only 1 1/2" tall by 3/4"width at the base and 1/2" width at top. I have included a quarter in some of the photos to use as a size sight reference. This is a framed group of two tortoise shell instruments as well as a Japanese folk lute. All the pieces are hand made. The tortoise shell pieces are a mandolin and a guitar. The lute is 8 ½ inches long and it is made of wood. The frame is a shadow bow with Japanese fabric in the background. The shadow box is 11 ¾ inches wide. 21 ¾ inches long and 2 ½ inches high. The outside of the frame is gold in color. The mandolin has some loss on each side. The strings on the two tortoise instruments are not straight. This a framed pair of miniature faux tortoise shell instruments. They include and a banjo and a guitar. Both instruments are approximately 5 ½ inches long. The frame is a small shadow box and it is 20 5/8 inches long and 7 inches wide. The instruments are both hand made. They date to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. There is no damage visible but we have not removed them from the frame.

Lovely antique Japanese Shibayama fan. Both sides of the leaf painted. One with a landscape the other with a pheasant among bushes and flowers. Leaf is in excellent condition. Both paper and silk. The'faux ivory' guards are beautifully lacquered with gold and inlaid with. I think, jade. The fan has no pivot but a chord through the sticks. This chord is ending in a fine tassel with a'faux ivory' bead above it. The bead also finely lacquered with gold. Unfortunately both guards have damages. One is missing the lowest bit of the hand piece. The other has been detached at the joint which caused the inlay work to pop out. One stick has a repair. Done with a bit of cattlebone. Here is 3 pieces of antique carved faux ivory that are getting harder to find. And these are all still in very nice shape. These 2 little egg cups are really sweet plus there is a great solid life size egg, all have a great shine, feel, and color! They have very nice detail and craftsmanship and all still look wonderful for there age! Sorry my pics are not good, I have to say they all look way better in person! Also they could use a little clean up but i am going to leave that up to you, to be honest I wouldn't have a clue what to use and I do not want to mess them up! They both measure close to 2 3/4 inches tall and across the top it's 1.5 inches the other is 1 3/4 at top and the egg measures 1 1/2 inches wide by almost 2 inches long and they all are as smooth as a babies bottom! The cups have a felt bottom with a very nice smooth ... moreedge on top with a very small lip or edge, inside is a little rougher. Cups are 90.3 grams and 101.2 and the egg is 82.4 grams for a total of 274.9 grams. They all 3 do have a few age or stress lines one more then others but nothing looks real bad no chips or breaks and they will look better after a good cleaning! PAIR OF CARVED"faux" IVORY WALL PLAQUES SPANISH MATADOR SCENE This antique pair of carved tusk plaques are finely done with good detail and graining. Each plaque is square with a beveled circluar center having a brass framed convex glass covering the internal carving. The wood frames are coated with a high gloss black laquer framed out with a gold border edging. The one plaque is of the matador spearing the bull with his picadors(spears) and the other plaque shows the bull getting the upper hand. These pictures/ plaques would be desirable to many different types of collectors from collectors and would look Perfect in any room of your house. I am getting rid of some great items as our house has become toooo cluttered. So check for other items i will be listing. The depth is ~7/8inches. The diameter of the glass convex cover is 3-1/2 inches. DETAILS/CONDITION: The frames. Glass, and carvings are all in great condition. There is no visible damage or cracks to any of the carved pieces in either of the plaques. There are no scratches to the glass. The brass bevel rings are slightly tarnished due to the age however are not pitted. The backs of the frames are a burgendy colored alligator skin patterened material that is wrapped and tacked to the back with brass nails. There is a brass triangular swivel hook on the top back of each plaque for hanging.There are 2 labels on the back of each plaque advising the material used, artist and location, please see the pictures showing the exact labels.The I am a collector of many eras however I am not an expert on any particular one and my knowledge only comes from research, so please ask any questions prior to purchasing! I have not tested it but I think this one is the faux tortoise shell, more due to the size of the panel than anything. Rather large, probably overrules it being real shell. Lovely antique dog with so much detail. faux ivory bone.not plastic as I did the hot pin ivory test on this dog and it did not leave a mark. very elegant face and some estate dirt on this dog.a black mark on one hip looks a bit like number 2. I did not try and clean it off. lovely sit on this dog.appears to be a sighthound cept the tail is short. the tail feels good on the end but at the same time has a choppy look.I do not think it has been broken off short but I am not hundred percent sure on way or the other. Some of my photos were done with a flash and show the light coloring.the others were taken with no flash. Very old Victorian and measures 1.25 inches tall. Lovely creature! Yes! Sweet Antique Red Hand Fan w Faux Ivory. Hand Painted Up for your consideration is this super sweet 19th century folding hand fan. Beautiful color with what I think is red chiffon but I cannot be sure. Just a lovely color with small hand painted flowers throughout which white with blue center and gold metallic leaves, painted on one side and bare on the back, the ribs appear to be wood painted red to blend with the fabric, the sticks and guards are possibly bone but thin, pierced with circles and holes, there is also a bone button and the loop seems a little to bendable to be bone, may be celluloid. In overall good condition, minor holes in the chiffon which are pictured and the fabric is coming away from one guard but still attached. Measures 12 1/2" tall. Sold As Is. I will combine shipping! No one would ever know unless they lift the lid to find a decanter/flask and 4 shot glasses/small glasses. Made in France. Written on bottom. Inside hinges are made of leather, leather lined box. Decanter and glasses have gold trim. Glassware needs to be cleaned. There is wear and tear on the books as seen in pics. That is part of what makes it so realistic. Questions welcome. Great gift.

Antique Vintage Small Overnight Suitcase Faux Snakeskin Hard Shell Clean Beige. Size is 14 in. x 10.5 in. x 5.5 in. This case belonged to my mother and dates from the 1930s or 40s. Metal label says Genuine Shortrip. Stephenson Mfg. Co. Inc. N.Y.C. It’s in great condition inside and out except for a little wear on the corners. One small brown mark on the top and a couple of other small stains that you can hardly see. The inside is quilted in a synthetic“plasticy” material. There are 2 pockets and across the back a strap that pulls out to hold small items such as bottles. Inside I found a vintage hat pin& bobby pin which must have been there since before my mother died in the late 1950s and I left them there. This adorable child's fan is a duplicate of a fan that an adult would have. Right down to the faux bone sticks. It is a litho and painted in gouache. It's also a 2-sided fan with a little scene on the back. The only problem this fan has is that one stick had broken off and another inner stick is missing one-half of it, but this does not affect the workings of the fan. The fan also comes with a miniature ecru tassel on a brass loop, MOP washers. It measures 5-1/4" long by 9-3/4" wide when open.
