Up for auction is a Circa 1880 Victorian period"Goose Boy" Whimsey that is finely decorated on all sides down to the boy's teeth! This is an original plaster model and one that I have never seen let alone for sale. The only marking I can see in the#25 on the back of the base as shown in picture 7. Measures 22" tall. 18" wide, and 8 1/2" deep. There is wear and tear to this 131 year old charming little chap with paint losses and chips that could be touched-up if one wanted too. Beautiful Antique Victorian Dance Card Holder w/ Original inscription
Up for bid is a beautiful antique Victorian Ox bone dance card holder from the 19th century; this dance card holder has the original inscription on the interior. The top has a clasp to keep the case closed. There are 3 cards on the interior; 2 cards that act as the cover. On the interior of the cover is says"Wishing Dear Aggie a Merry Xmas. The cards are in excellent condition. They are not discolored. Stained, or cracked. There is one minor flaw on the front, but it is hardly noticeable. The clasp and pin appear to be sterling silver, although that is not confirmed. There is a slot for a pencil that is missing. This item measures 2 9/16" long x 1 1/2" wide. Antique Victorian Bird Cage of Intricately Detailed House Made of Metal Wood What a really nice decorative piece. Look at how the wood was put together on both the roof and bottom of the base. This item was never meant to be a cage of birds. Would have always been a decorative item. A nice porcelain parrot comes with it as well. Just check out all the windows and door in this one. The small bars are metal. I would say the wood is something similar to rosewood. But you be the judge. There are certainly some issues to report on condition. The widow's walk or turret at the top of the house is loose from it. Some tiles in the roof are missing, one of the four yellow fobs that hangs from the corners of the roof is loose and in the cage, and another is missing. Some of the wood pieces and bars are loose and in cage. Not sure if all the pieces ... morethat are off the house are there or not. One of the sides(non-bay window) where the windows stick out, is a little loose from the rest of the cage and will need some attention. Also, someone decided to make it into a light at some time. However, that did not affect the integrity of the piece, the bulb, cable and chain could be easily removed. This piece was originally made to sit on a table based upon the four rounded small feet on it. I can see the vestiges of some blue. Brown, and green paints on the roof of the cage. The cage has a fence around the entire house that is attached to the bottom tray that is all there. There are then four metal fobs that are intact at the four corners of these walls. The bottom tray of the cage can be removed by opening the four brass latches that attach it to the rest of the house. The inside wood in the base of the cage shows some splitting from age. The antique bird cage is 24" tall, by 20.5" across by 17" wide. This piece will take extra time and care to pack for safe shipping. The taller the tree the thicker the bark. The handsomer the girl the harder to spark. 1887 The earliest entry is from 1884. This Victorian autograph book is leather bound. And has tinted embossed flowers and an urn on the front. There are several signatures in this album that date from 1884 to 1888. There are references to Carlisle NY on a couple pages, so there is some provenance to the album by putting names, dates a nd locations t oge ther. The album does show signs of wear to the binding. And the inside lining page has been separated from the opening page. Me asure ments are approximately 3.5 by 5.5 inches. No odors. Or stains there is normal wea r that one would expect to find with a 100+ year old book. This Victorian autograph album is from my parents antique store that was located in Sarasota. This is an old Victorian 19th Century black paper mache Chinoiserie wall bracket shelf with Oriental figures from estate. It is 14 1/3" by 9 3/4" and once was a folding shelf but somebody has glued it in the open position. It is in overall nice condition but does have a grain of rice chip to the flat shelf on the front center. See me pointing in photo 10. This is very minor and not note worthy. The back side has a small nick to the black laquer on the top right edge by the hanging hole. Also not very note worthy. The figures on the lower section have some wear with minor crazing. See photo.
