Is in very good condition with no chips. The pieces are all in excellent condition throughout with some minor rough spots, but no large chips or cracks and repairs of any sort. to give an idea of sizes the Cruet Bottle stands 9-1/4" tall, the Wine Glass 3-1/8" tall and the Bucket Form Salt Bowls are 1-3/4" wide. Vintage to antique delightful Hen on Nest covered dish. This older pieces made by L.G.Wright. It is not a reproduction. Made of satin or so called frosted glass, clear with grey tint to it, the dish featured Chicken with head turns left, 2 eggs on each side front and 1 on each side back, split tail. The lid is in very good condition, it has a couple tiny stress lines at the edge which is characteristic for older glass pieces, and one small 1/8" flake chip, otherwise fine. It measures 3" highest, 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" oval; the nest/ basket with scalloped braided edge, measures 1 3/4" high, 5" x 4" oval- excellent condition, no chips or cracks. Antique Fort Pitt Cup Dish
A beautiful antique cup plate with the Eagle and Fort Pitt design. The history of cup plates date to the early 1800's when it was fashionable to sip tea from small. Dainty teacups. It was not considered proper etiquette to slurp hot tea from the cup and so the practice of pouring some tea in a saucer to sip while cooling was adopted. The cup plate offered in this auction is one example of an early- mid 1800's American made cup plate. The Boston and Sandwich company was the leading American glass company at the time and made many of the popular cup plates, however I am not able to identify them as maker of this cup plate when I searched for information. There are no manufacturer markings on the plate. This cup plate is an early pressed glass manufacturing process. Commonly called flake glass because of its imperfections.
