You are bidding on an elegant. Decorated covered butter dish that measures 5 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches across. The enamel decoration is extensive. Gold is the most noticeable color, along with white, green, blue and pink. I think there is some wear to the gilding on the edges where the dish would have been held. A dealer who looked at my collection thought that it was French because of the white outlining of the gold. Her opinion was that it was from the end of the 19th century/beginning of the 20th century, which makes it Victorian. I feel 2 minute flea bites around the rim. I have been collecting fine Victorian cranberrry glass for 20 years and am now downsizing because of my retirement. Don't miss out on this unique piece!

Vintage to antique delightful Hen on Nest covered dish. This older pieces made by L.G.Wright. It is not a reproduction. Made of satin or so called frosted glass, clear with grey tint to it, the dish featured Chicken with head turns left, 2 eggs on each side front and 1 on each side back, split tail. The lid is in very good condition, it has a couple tiny stress lines at the edge which is characteristic for older glass pieces, and one small 1/8" flake chip, otherwise fine. It measures 3" highest, 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" oval; the nest/ basket with scalloped braided edge, measures 1 3/4" high, 5" x 4" oval- excellent condition, no chips or cracks. There is one very small flake on or near the edge of the lid. Antique Duck On Marine Base Frosted Glass Covered Dish Central Glass Late 1800s
This is a rare antique Duck On Marine Base. A frosted glass covered animal dish. Made by the Central Glass Company in Wheeling. WV in the late 1800s. The piece appears in two of our glass reference books; Yesterday's Milk Glass Today by the Fersons( p age 25. Item 79) where they call it'D uck on Cattail Base Covered Dish' and The Milk Glass Book by Chiarenza& Slater( page 52. Image 99) Whi ch has this to say about the piece: With its well-formed head pointing straight ahead and its tail turned up. This d uck floats along blissful ly. The ends of the wings join together to form a dapper little peak just above the tail. Particular care appears to have been taken in matching the top of the base. As the fine ribs circling the edge of the cover correspond to identical ribbing around the top edge of the base. The base itself is ... moreunique in creating a nautical motif. Water lilies and rushes cover the sides. While the underside is virtually a pond teaming with life- a large fish. Frog and crayfish all swimming in water moulded to simulated bubbles. They continue that Central Glass named it'Etched Duck No. 727' in the late 1880s catalog and that it was made in blue. Opaque white(none have been found) and frosted glass. The cover measures 7 1/4" from tip of bill to tip of tail and is 4 3/4" wide. The base measures 7 1/8" long and 5 3/8" wide. This piece is in near museum quality condition. With the only issue being a 1/4" sliver from the raised rim of the base(see fifth photo with arrow) The piece could use a good cleaning. But we will leave that up to the auction winner. Victorian Cranberry Glass Covered Dish with Clear Applied Finial and Base
Offered here is a Victorian era large covered dish. It is almost like a ladies powder box. This cranberry. Blown glass box has a smooth pontil and is accented with an applied clear glass finial and, a applied clear glass base. This piece has the lovely cranberry color that only the old cranberry glass has. It stands 5 inches tall to the top of the finial and measures 4 7/8 inches at the widest part. There are some issues with the top of the box. It has some chipping that I have photographed. It could be ground out but is not that noticeable with the lid on. It was simply used. Chick on Eggs" This is one of the most recognized pieces made by Atterbury& Company. The lacy edges on this dish are intricate and very indicative of their style. What an neat piece. The chick looks great, although he is missing his glass eyes. They used actual glued-on glass eyes for their animals in the early years of Atterbury. We have found only one small chip in the bottom of the lid, and a small brown mark on the bottom of the bowl itself. Other than that, this is in good condition. This measures approximately 7" tall and 7 1/2" at its widest point. This is in shabby chic condition due to the missing eyes. Small chip, and small scuff. This is a very nice cut glass covered dish or cheese dish from the late 19th century. It has some green and gold accents. There is some wear to the accents. The piece stands 4 1/2 inches tall. The bottom dish is 7 1/4 inches in diameter, the lid is 5 1/8 inches in diameter. The bottom has a lip for the lid to sit outside of. The piece has no chips, cracks or repairs. It is quite lovely.
