The filigree is gilded and the metal is probably French white metal or spelter. The gilding appears to be the original finish. It has an easel style back and stands nicely. The glass and photograph slide in from the top. There is an original antique wedding photo, or cabinet card, on the inside. This lovely old frame measures approximately 8 1/4" high x 6 1/4" across. The viewing area is about 5" high x 3 1/2" across. It is in very good condition with the glass intact and all of the metal looks good. Up for auction is this great Antique Victorian English Sterling Silver 925 Cherub Angels Table Photograph Photo Picture Frame. This is a very interesting Antique photo frame with English sterling silver front design on a dark blue velvet backing. This piece is hallmarked with the passant lion for 925/1000 sterling silver. The anchor mark for Birmingham England, and the date letter mark of a lower case( i) for the year 1908. The condition is as follows. The silver has some dings and dents especially around the central ring, the top cartouch is pushed in, the velvet on the front has some white polish dust. This piece would have originally had a filler backing to strengthen the sterling and this is a bit broke up now inside.Measures about 6 x 5 3/4 inches, the circular is 3 inches in diameter and there is no glass. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MINIATURE ENAMEL GRAPE MOTIF TWISTED WIRE BEADS PHOTO FRAME
This is a wonderful old Victorian 19th Century twisted wire miniature picture frame from wonderful old estate. The metal frame is 4 3/4" by 3 1/4" and has a glass reverse print inside that is oval and 2 7/8" by 2 3/8" The picture is a litho print attached to the back of the glass to make it more like a painting. It also has Mother of Pearl inlay in the photo. It is a European scene perhaps Germany of a hill side scene with a boat perhaps in foreground. The frame has enameled green grape leaves and there is some enamel loss. See photos. The frame also has glass beads meant to be grapes and many are missing. This is a very haunting picture of a plain victorian woman. I think its a hand tinted photograph of some kind but i'm really not sure. The pose is formal and her expression is truly somber. The brooch at her throat is very nice. The carved wooden frame is possibly Eastlake? It is very ornate it has a carved floral motif that has bits of color in the flowers and leaves. There are also areas of heavy gilt. There is some damage to the frame, it has some cracks in the wood but is all together. The backing is intact. 21&3/4"L x 12&1/2"W.

This is a beautiful antique wooden frame that likely dates from the Victorian Era. On the front is carved what appears to be a griffin or heraldic lion; it is quite ornate and aesthetically pleasing. It will hold photos that are up to 8 1/8" tall and 4.75" wide. The photo is inserted into a slit on the top. It is 6 3/8" from the bottom of the photo"drop" to the top of the viewer frame. Which means if the photo is 6 3/8" high it will reach the top of the viewer frame. It can be up to 8 1/8" high and still be held behind the wood. The frame opening is about 3 5/8" x 5 3/8" The entire frame is 8"x10" Some of the hardware on the back looks to have been added later. The frame has some wear from handling and use. It is structurally sound, but on one side the pieces of wood are separating(see ... morephoto) Again, though, it is structurally sound. This would make an ideal decor item. This framed piece has a story behind it that I could only imagine! I found it at an estate sale. In a box, wrapped in bubble wrap. It had been missing quite a few of the tiny nails in the back that secured it's contents. What was left of the paper backing was removed[in order to have the nails replaced] and what I discovered is what you see in the photos. The photo of the child was a replacement for the original photo of the man& woman. Which would explain the loose and missing nails in back. The frame is magnificent! Made of wood that I am unable to identify. Sorry. The glass is thick and other than needing a cleaning is in great condition. What you see in my photos is what you will receive. In excellent condition and is not adhered to the glass. Frame can be hung either vertically or horizontally and has notches on the sides to allow you to attach wire or string to hang it. The original linked chain IS included but the ends are split open and will need repaired to be able to hold them onto the frame. A wire rope rim also around the photo space. Multi color flowers on royal blue tiles back ground. It measures about 3 3/8" tall and 2 3/8" widest. The oval space for the photo is about 1 1/2" by 1 1/4" It has a glass plain inside which has some roughness on edge. There is a metal wire stand and metal backing on the back. Three little tabs to hold the backing. The metal on frame look like brass. The backing is metal with ormolu gold paint. Very nice condition with no missing tiles. Some light tarnish on metal. Antique Victorian Cast Gilt Metal Painted Photo Picture Frame Or Mirror Acanthus
Victorian cast metal or brass that is painted off white picture frame or mirror. The picture frame has very nice rococco style acanthus leaves designs all round and it is self standing with an easel type of metal on the back that folds in or extends out to hold the picture frame in place. The area for a picture or for a mirror has an opening on the front of 3 3/4" X 5 1/2" The measurements of the whole frame are 12" long X 8 1/2" wide. Please note that we are not sure if the off white paint finish is original to the frame or if someone did this at a later date. We do know however. That the frame itself is indeed dating from the Victorian Era. If the new owner wishes to remove the off white paint, the frame would show its gold gilt under coat which is now visible in a few areas here and there where the paint wore off.
