This Deliciously exquisite ... moreand most unusual item is simply a delight. And a genuine curio of the Victorian era. It was clear that a fine lady would need to protect her treasures from potential light fingered servants, however it seems there was also a need to ensure her expensive perfumes were not being surreptitiously dabbed on the neck of the housemaid and it must have been derived from the“Butlers Enemy” the drinks“Tantalus” first shown at the great exhibition, that the idea of combining a version of this with a lockable jewellery box must have come, hence allowing both valuables to be displayed whilst at the same time protecting them from use by the staff. It is unclear when the first of these were made and how widely they were used and for how long they were popular, clearly nowhere near as widespread in use as their counterpart the drinks Tantalus which is borne out by their rarity today. This example is stunning and in really very nice condition, it consists of four cut glass(probably Bohemian) perfume bottles themselves in lovely condition with only a couple of flea bites on one of the stoppers to fault them. The jewellery box opens at the top with lockable hinged double doors which also secure the bottles in the Tantalus; the doors also have superb bevelled glass panels to allow the jewellery below to be viewed. Inside there are three red leather lined compartments two of which have red leather covered tilt-top covers and are silver embossed with the words in old English script“ Hair Pin s” the central compartment is open. There are a few scuffs and minor age and use related marks to the leather but these are only very much what you would expect, indeed require of a used item of this age. This is a very unique(and adjustable) lamp and has"Hubbell" on the switch(see ... morepicture) This item stands about 7" tall without the shade or bulb and around 10" with bulb and shade(came with a 25 watt bulb which is not included) and weighs a bit under two pounds. To my surprise this lamp is adjustable in heigh t. The metal base unscrews to make this lamp go from 7" up to about 9 1/2" 12 1/2" with shade and bulb) This piece shows great patina throughout and is being left to next buyer as to how much cleaning is to be done. The wiring on this lamp is definitely older and may need to be redone. As you can see from one of the pictures it does(or at least did) work when I carefully and cautiously tested it! I cannot guarantee that it will continue to work without rewiring. That being said I am including pictures to show the plug and socket wires. Some fraying of the cloth cover is evident at both ends. I would rather err on the side of being cautious but the rest of the cord seems to be in fairly good shape. No tape jobs or cuts. The"HUBBELL" switch seems to turn nicely and has great on/ off clicks. The shade(which is non metallic) sort of snaps around the bulb. Pictures will show this mechanism on the inside of the shade. I am not sure of the age of this lamp. But I knew it was something different and unique when I saw and obtained it. Hopefully you will too and give it a good home. Ornate Antique Victorian Carved Oak Wood Picture Frame
The outer dimensions of this antique frame are approx. 21 3/4" x 25 3/4" The inside dimensions. What size print will fit, are approx. 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" of course, you could also use a mat) The ornate borders are wood, most of the ones you find have a plaster or gesso that is molded to shape. I would assume that this was not an inexpensive frame in it's day. It is in super condition, with only very slight blemishes- VERY slight. Thanks for viewing this auction.

Old/ vintage dark oak picture frame with glass that was in the frame when I bought it. It is 9 5/8" across 11 5/8" tall the molding is 1 1/2" wide and it would fit a picture 7 1/16" by 9 1/16" The frame shows some wear from use. A few bumps and scuffs, and a corner bump, and the wood is dry, it could use some oil or a polish.

This is an early solid oak shaving mirror. It still has it's original shellac finish which looks to be in good shape for it's age. It has a lower compartment to hold your shaving items like a straight razor. Shaving soap, and brush. Could also have been used to hold toothbrush items. This wonderful early OAK picture or mirror frame measures 36" X 23 1/2" on the outside. Doves antique art print. From the painting by H. Vogler This print was a special supplement to the"Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News" Published May 1, 1897. This print was actually two pages in the supplement and was joined together. There is slight crease in center where this joining occurred. Frame is oak. Rails are 3" wide. This was in my custom framing shop and I asked an artist to paint a black edge around the edge that duplicated the scallops in the wood. The image is 13" x 18 1/2" A beaded black fillet surrounds the image. The mat is green suede. Wonderful piece. This came from my custom framing shop and art gallery that I closed last year. It had well over a $300. price tag on it.

This is a great looking antique Arts and Crafts handcarved picture frame with painted shields. I would date it very early 20th century. The carved pieces remind me of American flag shields. But I'm really not sure what they represent. It's a very decorative frame with a very handsome look about it. It has a number of great old wormholes or beetle holes on the bottom area. But the bugs are gone. There is a chipped piece of carving on the left side. As you can see in the photo. It is about 3/8 inches wide. Also. The bottom right-hand corner has a slight chip on the corner, also shown in a photo. Oak and Gold This pretty antique picture frame is the perfect balance of ornate and rustic. Enough of the original gold finish has worn off the flat oak panel to show the natural grain. But the edges are bordered with an ornate gesso decoration that dresses it up a bit. The frame has the original glass- wavy and bubbly- which is glued in place. The opening is an oval in front but rectangular in back so you don't have to trim any photos. Could be used horizontally or vertically, just add hanging wire. Elegant Antique/Vintage Large Ornate Carved Out Oak Picture Frame with Period Watercolor Painting This auction is for a truly beautiful antique/vintage oak picture frame ca 1890-1910. The carved out areas of the frame are framed themselves by solid boarders which gives this frame a rich aesthetic feel. The very inner portion of the frame has what I think is a thin gesso area which nicely compliments the larger areas of ornate carvings. The approximate outside dimensions are: 29 3/4" x 25 1/2" The approximate picture viewing area dimensions are: 19 1/2" x 15 1/2" The frame does have a few minor dings and a crack(upper right corner) Considering its age. It is in marvelous condition. The watercolor painting comes with the frame. It is signed by a Hazel Taylor of whom I am not familiar with. The watercolor is placed on top ... moreof what appears to be a blank canvas. The watercolor nicely depicts a classic perspective painting of a horse drawn carriage which is approaching a bridge that denotes its weight limit. The Glass was broken and the Portrait damaged but the Frame is very beautiful. I believe it is Tiger Oak.
