Collectible Antique Brass Opera Glass Binocular Unknown Maker
This is an antique Leather& brass opera glasses. Not sure of the age. They were in my grandfathers belongings. They do need an inside glass cleaning& outside, which is very easy to do and I'm leaving that up to the buyer. The leather has been worn or taken off the outside frame. These glasses are in working condition and the swivel function works for operating. There is a crack in the swivel nob though, pic. 6 shows a close up. Has slight scratches on the lenses and has dents all around it. A good specimen for ones collection. Measures approximately 4"T-closed x 4.5"L x 1.75"W. But I am not an expert on these instruments. Compression is fairly good. The bell is beautiful. It has not been creased or dented. There is no case but a King 7M mouthpiece is included. See Pictures below. Serial number is 16933x. So according to Conn's info, it was made in 1919. Bell section wears elaborate floral engraving, all the way up to the bow of the bell. Hard to see from my photos, but the engraving subject is"Leda and the swan" with a scarcely-clad rather handsome lady right above the bird. The* star) above the serial number confirms this was a special one-off order. Original owner's name"Rudolph William Treder" is engraved on the bell-rim. Conn's"burnished gold plate" model was their most costly finish.just above"satin gold plate with bright gold inside the ... morebell" Their model 80A stayed in production for decades. Conn's late sixties catalog showed 80A models still in production, but without the quick-tune mechanism. Early 80A models had an elaborate quick-change mechanism that allowed the player to push the main tuning slide plunger and, at the same time, the valve slides also extended. The idea was to have a quick transformation from B-flat to A. Virtually all the 80A cornets we've seen have had this mechanism lost. Damaged or removed. Our cornet has all the original parts. All of them. And everything works beautifully. One tiny ding to the mouthpipe has been burnished out in our shop, but you can see a scratch where the ding was removed. Can't measure the depth as they are framed behind glass mounted on a fact sheet with the name of the mask; some chinese lettering; a description of the mask. All in excellent condition but it looks like the fact sheet may have an air bubble(top left corner) The frame is 8 1/4" wide x 11 3/8" tall x 1 1/8" thick. No scratches. Nicks or damage to the frame. The glass is original and does have some dust on the interior side- no cracks, chips, breaks or repairs. Brass hanger for mounting. Ind" on the logo- Features opera glass- All valves. Slides, and spit valves are functional. Some slides move easier than others. Includes two mouthpieces. Mute, lyre, cleaning rod, and original case- Silver coating is tarnished and in some places is worn off- Numerous minor dents are found throughout the instrument I inherited the instrument from my grandfather. Who played it in high school in the 40's. I do not believe it has been played since. It is as dirty as you would expect a well-used cornet of this vintage to be. Antique Binoculars. Paris! Hi. This Offering is for an Antique Binocular marked College D'Optique, Paris. These Glasses are Brass, Enameled Black and the"bells" are covered in Black Leather. Manufactured around the turn of the Century, this style was often used by Military. In Very Good Condition and Working Order, this piece of History measures 2.5" retracted and 3.25" extended and is 4" wide and 1.75" deep. There are 3 dents, 2 on the metal rim around the bottom lens and 1 on the lower bell flare part, all on the left ocular, as well as scrathces and scuffs in the leather and some missing enamel. Conn New Wonder Cornet 1914 Silver Opera Glass Great Player with case
Conn Silver New Wonder Cornet! 1914! SN#136546 The horn has only minor lacquer wear(approx. 90 percent lacquer) Only minor scratches or dents. The valves, slides, caps, and water keys move fine. Appears to have a gold wash bell and mother of pearl keys. It has the opera glass mechanism which moves one of the slides when I turn it. Another slide moves when I pull on one of the slides. But I don't think the quick change mechanism works, though I don't know why one would use it. The exterior was professionally cleaned by the foremost brass repairperson in the Twin Cities. The horn plays very well with a beautiful tone! I don't sense major compression issues when I play it: maybe some minor compression issues is all. Though I can't really tell. The horn comes with a very beat up. Though functional, Conn Liberty case, which is ... morenot originally for this model, and doesn't fit it too well, but will help protect it for shipping. No mouthpiece is included. Anything else that appears incidentally in the pics is of course not for sale. These were small binoculars or opera glasses manufactured by Carl Zeiss. Jena. This brochure is a three panel foldout printed both sides on slick glossy paper measuring about 6.25" x 4.25" or about 16 cm x 11 cm. This is an English language brochure that was printed in Germany. I don't find a date on this brochure but the back cover is printed with the code"H.X. 23" which I think may indicate a 1923 publicaton date as this brochure appears to be from around that mid 1920s time period. The front cover has the code" T 280 e. This brochure features the Zeiss TELEATER Theatre Glass and accessories and is illustrated with a few halftones and photos. The back cover ... morepanel features the Zeiss DELTRINTEM Wide Angle Prism Binoculars. This brochure is a vintage original published around 90 years ago. Beautifully decorative, embossed or chased design on gold handle and handle tip, and real pearl inlaid as well. Not sure if gold, gold filled, rolled gold, or other, as I don't usually deal with these. Excellent condition with no cracks to pearl, and the nacre is gorgeous and full of luster!
