This piece is in wonderful condition. We believe the finish to be original. The ornate mirror is also in excellent condition with the original beveled glass mirror. Upon close inspection we find there have been a couple of repairs made to the top section. These were well done and are not seen unless you are closely looking for it. The mirror has some very slight cloudiness which is consistent with the age of the piece. There are three sections of marble. One on the center top and a smaller piece on each of the two glove boxes. ... moreIt is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are some minor discolorations, again consistent with age. We found this piece in a rural area of Maine. The owners obviously took great care of it over all of these years. An antique. Circa 1840's, Empire style turtle top shaped pedestaled table on simplified plain paw feet. The table surfaces are covered in flame mahogany veneers. The top with butterflied two veneer sheets. The top and skirt have been nicely refinished, the base and pedestal in the original finish. Table is on brass casters. It measures 29-1/2" tall by 23-1/2" square. Excellent condition: veneers without cracks, chips, or losses, not faded. No ring spots or scratches to top.

An antique. Circa 1840, Empire flame mahogany center table. The facet edged top has four butterflied veneers, with veneer border around. The squared baluster pedestal, the table skirt, and the scroll legs, are also veneered. It measures 28" tall by 42" diameter. Very good condition: nicely refinished with good color. Some veneer replacement patches on the table edge, some small stained wood putty repairs to skirt or legs. It is a beautiful table that came into our shop. We have completely stripped. Refinished, hand sanded, hand stained, applied multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer, glued a few joints and left a few little nicks and dings for character. Overall the finish is beautiful in a rich luxurious reddish brown mahogany stain that really draws out the details of the flame mahogany that has been used in this entire table. Made before the Civil War, this table comes with three 18 inch table leaves.
