Vintage celluloid or Bakelite mid-century picture frame & photo of older couple
Up for sale is a vintage celluloid or Bakelite picture frame. It is clear. But somewhat yellowed, which is apparently typical of the material. It has nice detail and holds an 8 x 10 picture. The bottom corner pieces on the back are removable to allow the backing to be removed. These pieces had a partial patent number. So I was able to find that this frame was patented in 1950. I will enclose the printout that I got from the US Patent Office. The frame was in an old trunk so it is a bit dirty. But I did not want to try to clean it…I will leave that to the buyer. I am also leaving the photo inside. Unless the buyer includes a note with their purchase in shipping instructions that they do not want the photo. Most of my items are pre-owned. I try to describe them accurately and show flaws in the pictures. But. Due to camera limitations, I may ... moremiss some minor flaws. Vintage Whitewashed Wormy Chestnut Picture Frame, Mid Century, 60's Era, Pickled
Very stylish 60's era vintage white-washed wormy chestnut picture frame. This frame has a painted lip that angles towards the rabbet from a high point. And sweeps back towards the outside with a gentle curve. The rabbet size is 14 1/ 8" X 20 1/8" With an outside dimension of 16 1/2" X 22 1/2" The moulding is 1 1/2" wide. The rabbet depth is 7/16" The sight size is about 13 1/2" X 19 1/2" Frame has a nice. Even wash. O n the bottom rail. The white has worn off just a bit. The frame is in good condition overall. There are a few small chips on the bottom two corners. Don't have close-ups of those, but I think you can see what I mean in the first photo. Two of the corners on the right side are a bit open, but the frame is still solid. It sits flat, it's not warped. No glass, but I'll send ... morealong new screw eyes and wire as these look a bit rusty. Frame would be great for a print or watercolor. Thanks for taking a look.

And has gold inner and outer paint and beige-washed paint, inside the middle molding. The frame appears to be made of pine, it is in fair/good vintage condition with some common scrapes/wear to the finish from age. The insert for this for your art is 18 x 24 ins. The entire frame measures 21 3/4 x 27 1/2 ins.the rabbet is about 1/4 in. This originally had a 1940s portrait that I have sold, so I would date it to the 1940s, to very early 1950s time period. This is a vintage wormy chestnut mid century modern painting frame in the Heydenryk style. It definitely looks like a frame The House of Heydenryk would have made. But it doesn't have a label. It probably dates 1940s or 1950s. Overall. It measures 21 1/2 inches x 25 1/2 inches(54.6 cm x 64.8 cm) It has a back opening size of 16 1/8 inches x 20 1/8 inches(41 cm x 51.1 cm) The molding width measures a touch under 3 inches(7.6 cm) It has a textured. Combed surface. The profile is a great-looking reverse cove. The wood under the linen-covered liner is not wormy chestnut. But a different type of wood. The interior section is painted a reddish/goldish/grayish color. Giving it a wonderful look. The back has writing which says#D3331. I believe this was a model number. It also says#5 linen a few times. There is light chipping around the outer ... moreedges(please see photos) The liner has two small stains. Each with about a 3/4 inch diameter(3.2 cm) along the bottom middle section of the frame. There are a few very small marks on it also, but nothing significant. There is no glass. For your consideration a silver metal leaf modernist style frame. 25- 30 years old and possibly by Motika Frames. I purchased it in a grouping from a estate sale at an artist's home. Measures 24-1/8 x 36-3/16 inches inside dimensions. Over all outside dimension is 27-3/8 x 39-3/8. The molding is about 2 x 2 with a 1 inch plus rabbit depth. The condition is not like new and I have not cleaned it. It has wear from age and handling throughout. There are some nicks scrapes and wear through the gilt and tarnish. The corners are tight though there is evidence of surface cracks at the joint. In my opinion all the loses give it nice character of age. It is made of bass wood and it is straight with no warping. Here is a very large. Heavy custom/hand-made pine picture frame. It measures 33 x 36 ins. in total and 26 x 30 ins. insert rabbet size. This is painted gold( not gilded) with an old original red paint or bole undercoat. This frame used to house a late 1940s oil portrait. So I would date this to the same time period to very early 1950s time period. The frame has multiple pieces of wood nailed and glued together. And at the top right corner someone nailed some more in to secure it at some point in time.That has caused a surface crack in the wood from the top right corner and the downward piece of wood about 4 x 7 ins. Here is a nice vintage original Mid-Century Modernist carved tiered layered picture frame. It is a blond color. Sort of muted gold and beige over the wood. In total it measures 22 3/8 x 28 3/8 ins. and the insert rabbet size is 18 1/8 x 24 ins. The frame is in fair/good as is vintage condition with surface wear/scrapes/minor chips. Sturdy still. Here is a nice original vintage picture frame.A simple gold wood one. It measures 27 1/2 x 34 ins. in total, and the rabbet insert size is 24 x 30 ins. It appears to be gold gilded.The frame is in fair/good as is vintage condition with some surface scrapes and wear, minor chips from age. It is sturdy still. This amazing piece is from the 40s- signed M. GULA Fabulous collectible piece of decor! It was taken out of an old decaying wood frame. And placed in the brass frame. This frame alone cost me $39. The brass frame is newer vintage. 1980s. The actual frame measures 11.5" top to bottom x 8.5" wide The inside frame measurement is 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" The frame has a bit of white on the backside.But is minimal.It's from the mold that the brass was made in. Vintage Art Deco Mid Century Modern Silver Geometric Frame 17 X 22 Opening
This is a great looking vintage Art Deco or Mid Century Modern geometric frame. The dimensional aspect of this frame gives it a wonderful design. It dates circa 1930s or 1940s. Overall it measures 19 1/2 inches x 24 1/2 inches(49.5 cm x 62.2 cm) The back opening size is 17 1/8 inches x 22 1/8 inches(43.5 cm x 56.2 cm) The molding measures 1 1/2 inches wide(3.8 cm) Though the dimensions are unusual. This frame can easily be cut down by a willing frame store. The frame has crackling throughout the entire finish. Personally. I think this is what makes it look so good. It has a number of small nicks and scratches to it. Most notably a 1/4 inch(63 cm) indentation on the top piece of molding towards the left side and a chip in the center of the bottom molding about the same size(please see photos) However, these marks all tend to blend in with ... morethe overall look of the frame. It has its original wavy glass. It weighs 4 lbs. 8 oz. 2.04 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

This is an older image of John Wayne. I couldn't find the exact image in my searches but many many similar to it. This is great purchase if you are a John Wayne fan because you also get a cool vintage frame with it. I bought this at a garage sale of a 91 year old woman along with some great cast iron cookware. I am keeping the cast iron LOL. This wood frame measures 7 1/4 X 9 1/4. It contains an old printed image of John Wayne. The jointed woodwork on this frame is very well done. When you look at the corners you can see the wood pins that join the frames corners. Even more unique is the way the frame slides apart at the bottom in order to open it up. I have a vintage Hama frame with similar joints. The frame is in used condition and has flaws expected due to it's age. This item will be sold as is. Ok everything about this clown says the 50's. The background color, the the sort of bowling insignia style signature, and birds eye wood tray maple? frame, but it is not dated. This artist did a great job catching that sad, happy, slightly scary, poking from behind the mask aspect of clowns! I like the floating no body aspect. Then keep reading this has a wire brushed wood frame with pie crust like embossing and an inner slip band of green velvet and inner molding of gold leaf, yes i can see it real gold leaf. Such a great bohemian mid century feel! It is a large frame measuring 31 3/4 by 28 inches overall. The frame is 4 1/2 inches wide. It was made in the 1960's in Taiwan and it is groovy! Taiwan made cool stuff in the 60's.Thanks for looking! There is also a little spot of brown to the left in the slip band and a little separation in one corner to slip band. this is old i am sure it has patina but no chips or cracks or unsightliness.

It is painted in alternating tones of brown with red undercoat of paint, it is distressed and has a gold inner molding band. It accepts in the inner rabbet a 18 X 24 canvas. It is in good vintage condition, there is some patina and minor paint loss however due to rustic distressed nature of piece these all blend together nicely. The molding type frame is approximately 4 inches wide and has center well and inner linen band. I have pointed out the one faint area of discoloration on linen band,these fade differently over the years but overall this looks very nice. This is a good quality frame and could work well with a landscape or nicely with a western! or earthy still life. Very versatile, Something that has a bit of a rustic ... morenature. This is a very good looking vintage mid century modern modernist wormy chestnut frame. It date circa 1940s or 1950s. Overall. It measures 17 1/8 inches x 20 7/8 inches(43.5 cm x 53 cm) The back opening size is 11 3/4 inches x 15 1/2 inches(29.9 cm x 39.4 cm) The molding width measures 3 inches(7.6 cm) This is a really nice cut of wormy chestnut wood. It has a light white wash on it. Which I'm pretty certain is original. There is some light scratching to the finish on the site edge corners. There is also a water stain in one corner(please see photos) However. Most of this just tends to blend in with the frame. It has the same feeling as a House of Heydenryk frame. But there is no label.
