Antique Victorian Brass Fancy Picture Frame Easel Stand Pat. 1894 Matching Pair
This auction is for a Beautiful Matching Pair Antique Victorian Brass Fancy Picture Frame with the easel stand and are actually marked PAT APR 24-94. They are both marked PAT APR 24-94 on the back of the frames very clearly with a matching number(possibly style number) near the patent markings. The marks are engraved on the backside of the frame. They are in good shape with some signs of age and also still have the glass with the frame. The edges of the glass are rough cut. The frames have a lovely. Leafy design. These are large frames and has the original patina in good condition and measures approximately 9" across and 12" tall. Each weighs almost 2 pounds. They would make a nice addition to a collection or would also make a lovely touch to any home on any Vanity or Dresser. Very fancy with deep flower and scroll work. The opening ... morewould display a picture size of approximately 4" by 6" These would look great with either a picture or a mirror which can be obtained locally. Nice patina to the metal and can be cleaned easily or left as is. 1880s Victorian Ebonized Easel Back Picture Frame Orig Matting &Bezel Aesthetic
Description This wonderful Victorian frame stands 11" tall by 7" wide. And holds a picture 7" by 5. It is made from ebonized wood with carved patterning which is white and gold and reflects the aesthetic movement with an added oriental flair. The frame still has its original matting which is flocked or velvet in a mottled design. Once purple in color, it is now a warm brown and still lovely. The bezel around the picture is has tiny gold flecks. The back of the frame has an easel stand made from wire attached to black cardboard. It has either been shortened or came from another frame. This antique cast iron table top photo or mirror frame measures 12&1/2" tall. And the opening is approximately 4&5/16" x 6&1/8" It's made of heavy cast iron with a brass-colored metallic paint or plating. As shown, it's in very good condition, with no breaks or missing metal, just typical wear to the brass paint/plate here and there and a nice aged patina. The stand works fine. This does not have any backing. But since this has a metal stand, something can easily be rigged up to hold a photo or small mirror in the frame. I actually displayed this with a piece of murky antique shaving mirror glass in it, but because it was a bit small for the frame I had to place a slightly larger piece of glass taken out of a photo frame behind it to hold it in place, so I am NOT including the mirror in this listing.

Beautiful little ornate brass picture frame. No maker on the piece. In great condition but will need a little clean up as it has been in storage unused for some time. The frame has a green fabric mat that shows behind the brass decoration. Has easel back and sits horizontally. When sitting vertically. It is a bit uneven and doesn't sit flat on a table. Its possible that the easel might just need to be bent a little to get it to sit flush, but I will leave that to the new owner as I don't want to break it. Ornate Victorian Cast Brass Easel Mirror 1860's With Fox Roses Pin Dish Birds
I am selling a 40 year collection of antiques. All items are guaranteed antique and are as described. Please check my other auctions for more fine antiques. The auction is for a beautiful brass dressing table mirror that dates to the 1860s and is in amazing original condition. The deeply beveled mirror is original and has only minimal aging to the silvering which would be expected in a mirror of this age. The original brass backing is still in place as pictured in photo 9 this is probably the reason the mirror is still in nice condition. The mirror frame and harp are amazing in their detail and the castings include a Fox at the top of the mirror. Two birds in flight, a birds nest with eggs and two bumble bees, the entire mirror and frame are encircled with many roses and vines and rose leaves. There is a heart shaped pin tray that is cast ... moreinto the base of the mirror frame pictured in photo 8. The mirror measures 13 1/4 inches tall 10 inches wide at footed base it is 9 3/4 inches wide from bird to bird at each side of the mirror bracket and is quite petite in appearance. The beveled mirror measures 6 3/4 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide. There are no breaks, dents, chips or repairs to the mirror frame and only a few small tarished areas to the beveled mirror. Antique brass ornate Victorian frame with original convex glass up for bidding. Very good condition. I placed a card inside frame due to reflection on taking picture. The all metal back on inside scuffed but would never be seen when picture placed inside. Filigree leaf pattern edging. Has its original metal easle back. Measures 8 1/2x6 1/4" 5x7 picture opening. On back of frame at top is a metal piece across top with tiny knob which you pull down to open& slide picture inside. On backside of easle stand are the#s 1741. 1850's Antique Victorian French Bois Durci Easel Back Picture Frame-Magnificent
Here is an absolutely beautiful Antique Bois Durci Picture Frame. This frame dates back to the 1855 Victorian time period. The frame measures approximately 10 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide. The actual oval opening for the photograph measures approximately 5 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide. The frame still retains it's original convex cover glass as well. As evidence from my photos. The frame has all of it's small metal"ears" which holds the metal back in place. The metal easel is very functional too. On the back, there is also a small metal ring at the top, where the frame could be hung. Overall, this is a magnificent item. Each side of this frame is adorned with two gorgeous women, or maidens, for lack of a better term. A Grecian Urn appears to adorn the top of the frame. The frame looks to be in excellent condition, ... morein my opinion. I would be remiss, if I did not offer a short explanation as to what" BOIS DURCI" actually is. This picture frame is often referred to as Gutta Percha. Bog Oak, Jet or even Whitby, among other generic descriptions. Unfortunately, all of these terms fall short of the mark. Bois Durci is a French term for"HARDENED WOOD. In 1855, Francois Charles Lepage obtained a patent for a method of combining blood albumen, from slaughter houses, with wood powder(sawdust) to form a plastic moldable material. The sawdust used was primarily Ebony or Rosewood, hence the dark black looking color. At times, a mixture of the two woods were used, which created a random"swirled" appearance on the finished item. Once the mixture was ready, it was poured into a mold, placed in a hydraulic press under high pressure, and heated to around 500 degrees. After approximately 30 minutes the mold was removed and placed in cold water. The finished product came out extremely dense and highly polished. That is how this frame was manufactured. 1880's Victorian Aesthetic Easel Back Frame Decorated with Bamboo. A Stork, a Dragonfly, Birds, and a Fan. It measures 11" tall x 8" wide. The opening is 4" x 6" wide. There is a ridge inside to secure the picture in place. As well as little adjustable arms for each side. The Aesthetic Movement was popular in the late 1800's. It was known for its Far Eastern influence and prominent use of nature ~ especially flowers. Birds, insects, ginko leaves, and peacock feathers. The Curved Back design is well supported by the original easel back and strong paw feet. For stability. One paw twists forward, and the other backward. That is how it was designed.
