Old Photo. Older Frame This is a beautiful antique picture frame with an ornate design of scrolls and curlicues. I believe is cast bronze and perhaps French in origin. The frame was found at an estate sale containing the photo shown. Which is of a stylish young man who has that movie star look. It's an original print, embossed with"Jose Reyes, Hollywood, probably from the 1940s or so. There is no glass so the photo has a few scratches. Antique Victorian Era Pressed Paperboard Picture Photograph Frame This old beauty came with the lot of old tintypes that I purchased and just listed- none of them were inside of it. There is sat all by itself. And it's just so pretty! What I have is an antique, Victorian era pressed paper board photo frame. I don't know if this was part of an album, or maybe had a light easel(like a wire one) at one point in time, but what's left of it now is the best part- the frame itself, nothing else. It's made from a light, pressed paper board that is not pliable(unless you force it- then it would move) that is brown, with lovely high relief detailing on the front. On the back, you can see faded rose colored paper shreds and pieces- as if it had covered the back at one point in time and is mostly no longer there. You can see a little ... moresheen to the brown finish at the back- where it dripped back there from the front- it's shiny at the back, but no longer at the front. You can also see what looks like a nail hole at the very top- see photo 4. I'm guessing someone had this one on the wall. Other than that, it's really in excellent solid and sturdy condition, especially for being over 100 years old. There are some very teenie spots of wear to the brown finish, and it could use a little dusting/wipe off- I have not cleaned it in any way, it's as found. The outside of the frame measures 4 3/4" wide by 6 3/4" tall and the inside opening is 2 1/4" by 3 1/2" tall. It's light, weighing only a couple of ounces. Prettyprettypretty! I believe the metal to be brass but am not 100% positive of the exact metal that was used to make this frame. I did put a magnet onto the surface and it did not stick to it. This picture frame measures 13 1/2" x 15 1/2" with a rabbet opening on back measuring 10" x 12" and is 2" wide x 2 1/4" deep(NOTE: this frame can be oriented in either direction depending on your subject matter. Use scroll bar to see all 10 close-up photos) This walnut frame is all hand carved with naturalistic motifs of logs and bark and has an inner molded plaster reveal with gilt decoration that is held in place using hand forged square nails. The"Naturalist" movement here in the US was a reaction against the ornate Victorian style and was popular from 1850-1865 and showed natural themes such as leaves. I used an tiny easel to take the pictures but its not included. It has a black and white photograph circa late 19th century. It measures 11 1/2" wide by 13 1/4" high the oval area for the picture measures 9 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide. Around the edge of the oval opening. There are four swirly decorations. These are separated from the frame. Yet they are still attached. It appears that there is a metal rod connecting the separated pieces to the frame. I have seen antique frames repaired of their gesso losses. If you are wanting to repair this, read the last paragraph, it may help. We are a smoke free home. It is marked on the lower left"RBB" and on the right it has the Britannia standard mark(958 purity. Higher than sterling) Leopard head mark for London, and the letter"M" It is in very nice condition with light wear consistent with age such as some small dents, wear and fading to the velvet along the edges. This is a stunning 19th century antique gold gilded bronze oval standing picture frame. it has a very ornate top of the frame with dimensional scroll detailing. the back legs are also made from gilded bronze and pivot back and forth on a hinge. it holds an oval photograph and the opening measures 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches. it measures 6 inches by 4 3/8 inches in total. it is overall in nice shape. This is a very rare antique 19th century brass and wood ornate picture frame. it has an original black and white photograph inside now that has faded ver the years but gives it a nice mysterious look. it depicts a young girl in a very large victorian home facing up the stairway. the frame has very ornate cut out brass corners which have acquired a wonderful patina from age. it measures 13 inches by 17 inches framed and the photograph alone measures 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. the frame is in nice shape just has a couple surface scratches to the glass. and refer to the pictures of the photograph it is faded and worn but does have a cool antique look. can be swapped out if desired. Wonderful antique gesso picture frame. This is a very large impressive frame measuring 30 3/4 by 26 3/4 inches. The inside measurements for the artwork is 15 1/2 by 19 1/2 inches. The frame itself is 6 inches wide. The frame has been well kept for many decades. The gold gesso is intact and the frame is sturdy. Amazingly I believe the photo is original to the frame. The photograph is sealed into the frame with an 1898 newspaper on the back. Not long after the civil war this handsome man had his picture mounted into this beautiful frame. This is a fascinating and original 1800s gesso picture frame and photograph. The frame has great antique charm. Thanks for looking.
