It's an excellent fascimile of an antique Art Nouveau frame. Made of solid cast iron in a natural browned shade. Lovely detail. The condition is very good and sturdy, however it's missing it's glass and backing. This sale is for the frame only. On the top of the back, there is some surface rust. On the top of the front, there is what might be the beginning of it(oxidation darkening) but this really doesn't detract from the overall great looks of this piece because it coordinates with the natural color of the frame anyway. It holds a picture that is 3.75" X 5" As shown in the photos. A corner has been broken. It looks like it was once glued but that has come undone and needs to be soldered for a permanent fix. It has a bottom foot pedestal. The only mark is indented 1266 in two places. I'm including the cabinet card photograph that was in the frame of a young girl in a wicker chair. It has been rigged with a metal wire for hanging that can be easily removed. I purchased this at an estate auction and am uncertain of its exact age. There are a few spots of rust(look at the pictures) The easle looks to have been replaced, it’s painted gold has 3 flaps with screws to hold the picture in, over all it’s 11’ tall and 7.75’ wide, the only marking I see is the numbers on the back on the bottom that read 9235 3 7919. Outstanding rare mid 19th century gilded cast metal ambrotype or tintype hanging frame(this was found with a damaged ambrotype in it) Ornate acanthus leaf designwork with beaded outer edge and top and bottom crests. When in direct light some areas almost sparkle.very unusual. Condition is excellent with minor wear. i've seen some of these cast metal frames before but they are usually pretty dull and simple.nothing like this. Ornate Victorian Cast Brass Easel Mirror 1860's With Fox Roses Pin Dish Birds
I am selling a 40 year collection of antiques. All items are guaranteed antique and are as described. Please check my other auctions for more fine antiques. The auction is for a beautiful brass dressing table mirror that dates to the 1860s and is in amazing original condition. The deeply beveled mirror is original and has only minimal aging to the silvering which would be expected in a mirror of this age. The original brass backing is still in place as pictured in photo 9 this is probably the reason the mirror is still in nice condition. The mirror frame and harp are amazing in their detail and the castings include a Fox at the top of the mirror. Two birds in flight, a birds nest with eggs and two bumble bees, the entire mirror and frame are encircled with many roses and vines and rose leaves. There is a heart shaped pin tray that is cast ... moreinto the base of the mirror frame pictured in photo 8. The mirror measures 13 1/4 inches tall 10 inches wide at footed base it is 9 3/4 inches wide from bird to bird at each side of the mirror bracket and is quite petite in appearance. The beveled mirror measures 6 3/4 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide. There are no breaks, dents, chips or repairs to the mirror frame and only a few small tarished areas to the beveled mirror. This attractive old cast iron picture frame is fresh out of a local estate sale. It measures 13 1/2" x 8 1/2" and the picture opening is 4 5/6" x 3 1/4" This frame is beautifully detailed with bow. Drapes and garlands. I believe this frame dates to the mid 19th century. Unfortunately the frame is missing the back easel stand so the frame cannot stand alone. There are a few shallow age lines around the bow. The bow area is completely sturdy. Original patina with deep mellow gilt paint. No manufacturer's mark. This frame is exceptionally lovely.

There is some wear or chipping of the paint on some parts of the frame which is not significant in its overall appearance. There is a marking Iron art and the number JM 32 on the back of the frame. The frame measures approx 16 1/4" from the top to the bottom and approx 12 1/2" from side to side. The mirror measures approx 7 1/4" diameter. There is some wear of the paint which is uniform in its wear. There is a marking on the back of the frame which is hard to decipher. There is a single leg on the back that holds the frame in a prone position.There is a round metal plate on the back that holds the mirror in place. There is very little noticeable wear on the glass.
