Beautiful! Antique Gold Oval Decorative Wood Picture Frame 25 x 19 Nice!!!!
Here is a beautiful antique picture frame that I found at auction recently and had to buy. It is in excellent condition for such an old frame. It is around 19 by 25 on the outside and will accomodate a 13 by 19 oval picture. The center piece in it is now a piece of embroidered cloth mounted on a piece of cardboard. This frame is in such great condition that I see no chips or scratches. And someone put some kind of gold foil on the round knobs on each design. You can see that in the closeup pictures, it makes that part look like real gold. This is just a really nice old frame that will make a great compliment for that special picture you've been saving. I am not an expert of art. But, I would date this print and frame to the late 19th or perhaps the early 20th century. The frame is lovely with deep well effect. There is one area on the bottom where some of the gold has chipped off, very small and hard to see as someone tried to cover it. This could easily be repaired and covered. The original back has been replaced. The print is lovely of a little bright eyed girl in what appears to be Victorian dress and hat. Overall measures 25 1/2" tall by 19 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. No damage to the print whatsoever and the original glass in intact in great condition. Absolutely exquisite antique ... morepiece to add to your home or a collection. Buyer pays S/H charges. Large Oak Picture Frame 29" x 25" Comes with Picture but Picture Scuffed Up
I'm only really concerned with the frame. The picture is scruffed up a little and there is no glass. I'm just leaving the picture inside and let the buyer do what they want with it. The back of the frame was sealed with paper. But was ripped open and I tried to rip off the rest of the paper, but there is still some of the residue(somewhat sticky) on the back where the paper had attached to the frame. It also has a wire hook on the back(attaching from one side to the other) The outside of the picture frame measures approximately 29" x 25" Since the frame is approximately 2 1/2 inches. I purchased it at an antique estate auction in the rural mountains of Pennsylvania. Where lumber barons built mansions full of fine furnishings over a century ago. We were told by the aucitoneer that an area man used to carve frames like this. So I'm going to guess it to be from early in the 20th Century, but it could be about any age, I suppose. Has antique photo– A HAND COLORED Photo of young boy with hat. Photo and frame are from the l890’s. Photo is not torn. Not stained, and does not have that iridescent glow that some old pictures have. The photo is DARK– bright flash from camera makes it brighter than it looks. Has probably darkened over the past 100 years but the gold tone frame highlights it. STILL A VERY CUTE LITTLE BOY! Some gesso carving missing– noticeable on one top corner. On the wall. Hardly noticeable. A little touch-up to the fluting around the opening for the photo. Gold tone finish– may be original but probably has had touch-ups. But long ago. A few minor discolorations. Looks good! Outer measurements of the ... moreframe are 25 ½ inches by 29 ½ inches. Up for auction is an old beautiful decorative gold gilded wood picture frame- in very nice condition for it's age. There is 1 small nick in the gold gilding toward upper left corner as shown in one of the photos. Measures approx. 28 3/4" H x 25" W; measurements of picture opening on back of frame is 20" H x 16 1/8" W. I am not an expert when it comes to picture frames. So I am not sure of it's age; however, looking at the wood, etc it is constructed from as well as the style& aged appearance, it is older- I'll leave that to the experts. Antique Ornate 20" x 25" Gilded Wood and Plaster Frame Oval Opening
A beautiful old(100 years +? wood frame with plaster ornation available in this sale. The frame does have some obvious damage in one corner. And some other minor damage in a few other spots, but you can see the potential of this piece with some restoration. The detail pictures start in the lower left hand corner and work up and around the frame to show potential flaws. The frame measures 24.5 inches x 20.5 inches. The center oval opening measures 19.25" x 15.5 inches. The corners measure 7 inches from outer edge to edge of opening, 3" from outer edges of center parts of frame to edge of opening. The frame measures 25.5" by about 21.5" The opening is 20"x16" As you can see in the photos, there is some damage to the gesso. I don't know if the picture is a print, painting or drawing. I don't want to take it out of the frame. There are some scrapes and small areas of missing paint. This can also be seen in the photos. Shipping is based on 20 pounds, for a large size package.
