Large ornate antique gold picture frame from theVictorian era(late 1800s) The frame has a very ornamental design. It fits an approx 16 1/8 x 20 1/8 inch print or painting. Its exterior dimensions are approx 27 5/8 x 31 1/2 inches and it is 2 3/4 inches high. The frame is made up 4 separate pieces(see last photo) Most of the frame is in very good condition. However the medallion in the lower right corner(first photo) was missing and had to be replaced. It should be less noticeable when hung on the wall. There are also several minor dings, etc. as typically seen on frames of this age. It is being shipped without glass.

Nice antiqued pine wood picture frame will accomodate a painting or print that measures 20 x 24" The rabbet is approximately 1/4" deep and wide. The actual frame is 28 3/4 x 24 3/4" a full 4 3/4" wide. It has three separate carved edges with cove molding in between. The frame is all one piece and is nailed at the top of each mitred joint. The carved surfaces may be applied strips of molding. It is hard to see beyond the gold(not gold leaf) or bronze finish. On the back there is an inscription: Happy Birthday. Love Martha and is dated 1993. The frame quality suggests an earlier date. At any rate it is a lovely piece, mellow and subtle with the wood color dominating and the gold just creating a quiet gleam. Great frame for your watercolor, print or perhaps even oil on board or paper. Since it is made of pine or another similar ... morelight weight wood, shipping will not be astronomical! FRAME IS IN“AS IS” CONDITION– FINISH IS ORIGINAL BUT THE STRUCTURE NEEDS SOME RESTORATION. The front of the frame has original finish in pretty good condition– the problem are the outside edges– no finish on them. Some nail holes and splintery broken edges where nails were– there may have been another wood layer on the outside of the frame. A little sanding on the sides would help! Dark original finish on the front of the frame. The incised gold design on the corners has faded– needs to be re-touched. Outer measurements of the frame are 20 ¼ inches by 24 ¼ inches. This picture frame hung in my great great grandmother's parlor with a picture of her infant who was born and died in 1888 at 7 months age. The first picture shows the memorial dove and poem. Beautifully made, this wood frame has very elaborate carved flowers and scrolls decorating the corners and center parts of the frame. There are a few very small, minor losses to the frame and I have taken photos of those. This is a solid frame and is in excellent condition for its' age. Offered here is an original(circa 1900-1920) wooden framed, lithograph(artist unknown) affording the collector a wonderful image of a young boy, guiding a Saint Bernard with precious cargo, through the forest undergrowth along the bank of a woodland stream. The little girl tentatively clings to her brother, while riding the massive St. Bernard; leaving a cottage in the background. A beautiful image; with each child wearing attire of the times; the boy with an interesting fur cap. The early lithograph presents very well, although showing some mention worthy stress lines at the left portion of the image. Antique Vintage Wood and Gold Floral Filigree Gesso 16 x 20 Picture Frame
This is a fantastic antique picture frame for a 16" x 20" photo. Print, or painting. There is no glass, so if glass would be desired, it would need to be 16" x 20" to fit into the frame. The frame is solid and sturdy, very well made, and in very good condition overall. There are two spots where the gesso has chipped away and are shown in the photos. There are actually four layers of wood; the layers alternate between medium-dark finished wood with a slightly reddish hue and wood that is topped with a leafy floral gesso and painted gold. The gold may have been repainted at some time, and there are some spots where the gold has been accidentally brushed onto the edges of the adjacent wood(you can see this if you look closely at the pictures. It looks fantastic the way it is, and I believe the gold spots on the stained wood ... morecould be removed easily. Overall, both wood and gesso are fantastic. The outside measurements of the frame are 25 1/2" x 30" It does not have any hangers on the back at this time and can be used both horizontally or vertically depending on where the hangers are placed. This frame measures 26 1/2 inches by 30 1/2 inches from one exterior edge to the other. The inside measures 19.5 by 15.5 inches as is visible on the exterior. The frame will hold a 16 by 20 inch piece or art or mirror. The frames protrudes about 2 1/2 inches from the wall. It need a new hanging wire. Print is titled"In Disgrace" and shows a young Victorian girl, with her dolly, and the family dog showing concern and sorrow for the young boy apparently being punished for some infraction. The print is dated 1906 and attributed to the Gray Lithographic Co. of New York. The golden frame shown inside the walnut frame is actually an image on the print and not a second frame inside the first, though it is hard to tell except under close examination. Handcrafted period carved gilded frame with standard 16 1/4" by 20 1/4" rabbet. 20 1/2" by 24 1/2" outer dimensions, 2 1/2" width. Interesting corner carving with modernist feel, carved and pencil signed on reverse, dated 1941. Believe is metal leaf from tone of gold, but could be real gold, not sure. Heavily toned, but could probably be easily lightened if desired. Very good to excellent condition with only very minor finish blemishes from age.

And some other minor damage in a few other spots, but you can see the potential of this piece with some restoration. Lovely antique gilt gold Victorian frame/fits a 14" X 20" painting/circa 1880
This is a really pretty and beautifully designed Victorian frame made around 1880. While I cannot be sure. It looks like it is finished in metal leaf. It is made to fit a painting that is 14" by 20, so it's a common and sought-after size Overall size is 19" by 25. Condition is as found and as shown. Has a few minor losses- the most obvious being some liner loss of the sand and gold mixture. While I do not see that as a major problem, it's an easy fix by making your own sand/gold mixture and gluing it in place. This is a really sweet design that will enhance any pice of 19th century art.
