Antique Vintage OVAL BRASS METAL Standing Picture FRAME PAT. May 19 1908
This auction is for an antique oval brass picture frame. It is dated Pat. May 19. 1908. The frame is 4" 3 3/8" It has some scuffs as seen in the photo. No glass pane, I do not think it ever had one. Metal back just slides out for placement of picture. Someone had added the velvet piece, could easily be removed. Victorian Antique Ornate Brass Miniature Oval Picture Frame w/Filagree
In this auction. You are bidding on a beautiful ornate miniature oval brass picture frame with a decorative filigree top and a wire easel back. Featured under the glass is a rectangular photograph lovely young woman in late 1800s or early 1900s clothing and hairstyle. There is a handwritten label on the back which reads"My mother at 18- Mary Ellen Palmer Lind. Wire easel on the back is not original and there is a brass tab missing. Outside edge of frame measures about 2&5/8" wide by 4&3/8" long, including the ornate decoration at the top. Large Oval Antique Brass Picture Frame with Tin Back and Wooden "stretcher" 20"
20" long and 14" wide. The frame has no damage. The tin back is solid. The wooden"stretcher" has canvas on it and looks like someone did paint something on there. But then it was covered with gesso. Can either be painted over, or just remove the canvas and put your own on, or just use the wood for backing.

This antique or vintage oval brass picture frame is 2 ¼ inches wide and 3 inches tall. And the viewable area is about 2 ½ inches tall and a little under 2 inches wide. It has a plain design with a beaded edge. And an easel back for standing. The back and glass just push out of the frame for inserting the picture. This is made from brass. Or a metal with a brass finish, I’m not sure which. The glass has quite a few chips around the edge which for the most part are covered by the frame. But there is one at the top that you can see if you are looking for it– see 2 photos with arrows of this one spot. It is more noticeable in the photos than it looks on the actual frame. The metal has a warm aged color that is darkened and somewhat uneven. Overall good vintage condition on this charming little frame. This is for an absolutely gorgeous antique picture frame.Found this at an estate sale that was at an old church in east aurora.N.y.Its in excellent shape for its age.Considering the art nouveau stye I would date it between 1880 and 1920.I have done nothing,it is as i found it.I like to try and note all defects so here is what i see.There is some loss of patina around the rim(see pic)I can also see that someone took the back off(probably to clean/make sure there was no valubles)and didn't line up the tabs correctly.Its still working just fine the way it is.They also left some what looks to be soap on the inside of the glass(upper right side)Should clean right off.Also there is some wear marks on the glass which i also pictured.and that is pretty normal for a 100 to a 130 year old picture frame. This is an extremely rare 19th century antique solid gilded bronze oval standing picture frame. it is very ornate with dimensional detailing wrapping the whole outer edge of the oval shaped frame. it is beautifully footed with female face dragon/ griffins. And detailed floral foliage. has a great patina from age. it has a leather wrapped backing and standing arm that has surface ware from age but still works. it measures 6 inches by 4 inches wide and the opening measures 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches. it is in overall nice shape. Welcome! Presenting a vintage. Antiqued brass miniature oval picture or photo frame with an ornate roses and leaves relief design. It currently frames a brass metal calla lily decoration on a flocked or velveteen background, but this can be removed and replaced with a photo, picture, print or even a miniature painting. The frame itself measures about 6 inches long by 5 inches wide at the longest and widest points. The image area measures about 4 1/2 inches long and about 3 1/2 inches wide as measured from the back. The backing is made of leatherette composite board with a little hook for hanging and there are four little metal prongs to hold things in place. These prongs can be opened and closed with a small pliers or other tool. This frame is in very good condition with some old dust in the crevices. Offered is a pretty picture frame made of cast brass with an oval glass opening and fiberboard backing. The frame is in as-found antique condition as possesses the wonderful patina found on old frames. More than likely. It will polish to a shine, if that is your intention. The oval glass piece has a few edge chips which may be still visible when displayed. But very minor. The fiber backing has shrunk a bit over the years and leaves the assembly a bit loose and capable of falling apart. This can easily be remedied with spacers, glue or tape.
