Antique 22" x 17" Dark Black Wood Picture Frame with Gold Leaf Gilt Border 1890
This is one of the most attractive antique frames that I have on ebay right now. It is a simple frame but I find it to be a really beautiful frame. This frame is from around the 1890s and is mostly a dark black with a bright gold leaf inside border. The rabbet measures about 22" x 17" Each side of the frame measures about 1 3/8" wide. On the side of the frame near one of the corners. There is a good sized chip(measuring about 1" x 1/4" and a crack extending from that chip. However, this damage does not effect the structural integrity of the frame and it not visible when the frame is hanging on the wall as it is on the side of the frame. Because you can't see it, I would still say this frame is still in very good condition. This frame is really gorgeous. The deep dark outside border really highlights the lemon ... moregold inside border. It's a great frame! Shipping is $20 within the continental United States. No international shipping. Victorian BLACK WOOD FRAME with Oval Matting - Very Ornate
Purchased recently at a sale in Indiana. This 19thC Antique Victorian Large Wood Frame accented with Gesso around the outside edge. Around the center glass opening and also in all four corners. I would date this frame around the mid to late 1800's. A frame of this age you would expect to have some damage. The only damage is there are missing pieces of the ornate detail work around the outside edge. The frame gesso does have some damage. Some of the ornate detailed work has come off over time so please view the photos for a look at the condition. The area around the oval glass is fine as well as the four corner detail work. The only spots are 4 small 1/2" areas(two on each left and right sides) that the detail work has come off. Really not noticeable considering the amount of detail around the whole frame. Measurements are top to ... morebottom 25 1/2" Left to right 21 1/2" Oval glass is 18 7/8" by 15" and the inside measurements of the matting are 13" by 10" The backing has the original cardboard and is being held in place by an old South Bend measuring yardstick with nails. Antique Vintage Old Black Forest style carved wooden rectangular frame with oval opening. This is a beautifully carved dark wood frame. Still in lovely condition for a really old piece and still usable shape with just a little TLC. The worst feature on the surface is some tape residue that I did not attempt to remove, It has a blue velvet matt still in it where it looks like a small square picture was attached. the oval wooden backing piece is broken in half. Oval opening is about 5 by 6 inches. With a total size of 8 by 10.5 inches. Antique Victorian Pair Large Oval Black & Gold Wood and Gesso Picture Frames
This is a stunning pair of antique Victorian era oval picture frames that are identical and in very good condition. All of the floral gesso designs on the frame are complete and intact and the wood is excellent. The paint is all intact(a few scratches have been touched up but they blend in well) The black is still glossy and not faded and the areas of floral gesso have gold accents. There is no glass included for either. And the photos that are in the frames are rough. There are screws on the back with wire attached for wall hanging, but the wire will probably need to be tightened or replaced because it seems to be too long. The frame dimensions are 21" W x 25" H. Victorian Antique Wood Gesso Black & Gold Gilt Oval Picture Frame With Mirror
Early Victorian carved wood and gesso frame with mirror in an oval shape being offered in its as is condition. The design is very beautiful but unfortunately the frame has some damages as seen in all the pictures and would need some restoration. Even though it does display a certain shabby chic elegance in its current distressed condition. The frame is oval in shape and it is decorated top. Bottom and both sides with leaves, nuts and berries in a high relief. There is a chis- cross design along the inside edge and the outside section is painted black. The mirror shows some age spots and a long(cut) line that shows through, but this is to be expected on an item this old. The back of the frame is a heavy piece of wood with a rectangular opening that has curved corners inside of which the heavy and thick mirror fits. The mirror is covered with ... morea flat piece of wood which is held in place with small nails. We have not removed this wood to expose the mirror and we have left everything in its as found condition. Please look at all the pictures to see where the gesso is chipped. The frame measures 14 1/4" long X 12 1/2" The frame would hold a picture that has to measure 10" X 8" This Victorian frame with mirror is being sold in its as is condition. Antique Biedermeier Black & Brown Lemon Gold Gilt Liner Wood Frame
This is a very handsome antique Biedermeier black and brown wood frame with a lemon gold gilt liner. I'm going to date it 1920s. But it may be just before or just after. Overall. It measures 8 9/16 inches x 11 3/16 inches(21.75 cm x 28.42 cm) I can't measure the back opening size due to the wooden backing. So I'm going to give you the site edge on front of the frame instead. It measures 6 3/8 inches x 8 7/8 inches(16.19 cm x 22.54 cm) The molding is 1 1/8 inches wide(2.86 cm) The grain on this frame is just beautiful. It looks like mahogany veneer with black ebonized corners. It has great looking. Well made lap joints at the corners. It has its original easel back. But it's badly attached(please see photo) However, it stands up fine. It has some slight damage to it. There's a tiny chip on the lemon gold gilt liner along ... morethe bottom. The ebonized black square in the top left-hand corner has a crack going through it along with some very tiny cracks. There's a small chip on the top. A little to the right of the middle. There's also a small chip on the bottom right-hand corner(please see photo) It has a number of tiny dings/nicks on it, but they seem to just blend in with the frame. However, the ones along the bottom of the frame do stand out a bit. The frame also has light scratches on it. The colors and patina are really beautiful. It has its original wavy glass. It's a sturdy. Well made frame. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It has what I always look for in frames. This is an extremely rare and unusual BLACK FOREST hand carved wooden frame dating from around 1850. It appears to have a Middle-eastern feel to it. Such as Palestine of the 19th century or Egypt of the same period. It held a thermometer within the frame originally. That would have been a novelty then. The piece is all original with no repair or restoration. You could place a cropped photograph in the frame or a custom painting or drawing.The specie of wood is indeterminable by us. The frame has the wear and mellow patination one would expect with its age but, no damage. The piece measures 11 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4 inches deep. When it hits ROCK BOTTOM. I rescue. Item Number: 978 T WO(2) VERY OLD BLACK FOREST STYLE RUSTIC PRIMITIVE CARVED WOOD PICTURE FRAMES with GLASS. A wonderful pair of picture frames. All carved and so rustic looking! Two different sizes, one glass opening is 11-3/4" x 9-1/2" and the larger one is 13-3/4" x 9-3/4" glass opening size. This is the measurement from outside edge of gold rim all around the frame. Of course you could use a mat in them and mat them down to your 8 x 10's or 5 x 7's. Dark rustic patina. Very nicely carved old wood. Leaves carved also, there are some pieces broken off and missing of the leaves layered on the wood panels. Some of the leaves has a missing point or two. For me, the missing part is hard to notice, everything just"fits" in nicely, it works as it is. Check out all the photos ... moreas I show them very clearly. Lots of detail in the wood panels, intricately carved with leaves on corners of frames where they cross. Comes with glass and some cardboard backing under the back panel. Bent nails(the old tried and true bent nail method! hold on the back panel loosely, everything is a bit wobbly. I assume this is all original, has features and qualities of old glass. Wires across middle appear original, attached on each side of frame. Examine all the photos. These are the exact frames you are bidding on, and ask any questions before bidding if you are not sure of something.
