Antique Victorian Neo-Classical Etched Crystal Glass Wine Decanter c1880 This is for an antique Victorian Neo-Classical etched crystal glass wine decanter. Circa 1880. Made of fine quality crystal glass, of Neo-Classical ovoid form, with a tall slender neck, terminating with a tri-foil lip, with its original faceted ovoid stopper, on a circular support. The body is etched with two concentric bands of Greek-key and foliage. The neck is cut with a tapering facets, and the underside is cut with a radiating star. This decanter measures 258 mm in height and 83 mm in width. It weighs 333 grams. The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, there are no chips or cracks, the glass does have light surface scratches, which is the patina of age. Please see images. Coiled foot and rough pontil. A particularly interesting feature of this unusual glass is the globose structure which sits between the stem and the bowl(see second photo) This element protrudes inside the bowl creating a demi-globe of glass at the bottom. An early 19th century drinking glass rummer engraved with Ulster Loyalist slogans of the Orange Order. An early 1800's wine glass with domed foot. broken pontil mark and round knopped stem. A finely engraved image of William III on horseback on one side with the slogan The Glorious Memory Of King William and No Surrender below. On the reverse Boyne 1st July 1690 T.C S.C. A fine example of a 19th century loyalist drinking glass with obvious connections to the Orange Order Grand Lodge of Ireland. Probably engraved by Franz Tieze. The master engraver/ master forger. Dublin 1842- 1932. An early 19th century, possibly late 18th century with later engraving. In good condition. Franz Tieze(1842–1932) was a late 19th century Dublin-based forger. An exiled Bohemian glass engraver. He worked in Dublin in the studios of the Pugh Brothers(Thomas and Richard Pugh) at The Potters Alley Glass Works, the only manufacturers of flint-glass in Ireland.1] Tieze had been recruited, with other Bohemian glass engravers, by the Pugh Brothers and he arrived in Dublin in 1865 to engrave glass in the'antique style' Cork historian Robert Day and Franz Tieze collaborated in supplying goblets to a ready market of glass collectors. Day researched Irish Volunteer glass designs and Jacobite toasting glasses. Tieze's engraving skills allowed the work to be categorised as"historicist" Thomas Rohan. Georgian red wine glass. It measures 11.5 cms high. The stem is facet cut. The base measures 5.3/4 cms and the pontil in finished. The glass has some charm; it has lots of bubbles and contours around the bowl and the base is a little uneven around the rim. It is in perfect condition except for a small scratch to the bowl. This Nippon wine jug is in the scarce owl on a branch pattern. The owl has glass eyes. The wine jug is 6 ¾ inches high. The handle is decorated in moriage fashion. The piece has a green mark on the bottom. This dates to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. We do not have the lid. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs, but there is light soiling on the bottom half. There are three beads missing on the bottom part of the handle. The shipping cost includes signature confirmation and insurance. The glass has pretty gilt decoration of ribbons and swags around the sides which is quite worn from use. It is in good condition. A Victorian Crystal Glass Wine Decanter Cross Cut Diamond Pattern c1880
An antique late 19th century Victorian period decanter. It is of good quality manufacture and is in the manner of the Oslers factory of Birmingham. The body is of amphora shape and all-over cut with the cross-cut diamond pattern which gives superb sparkle. The foot has been petal cut and the neck is slice cut with notches down the edges. It come with matching cut stopper which is probably original. The decanter was probably intended for wine originally. But is would also make a good spirit decanter. It holds a standard bottle of wine and would be fine to use today. Description Superb 19thC Murano Uranium Wine Glass. Enamelled/Gilded, Prob. Salviati This is a beautiful and elegant example of late 19 th century Italian glass– it is a tall wine glass. From Murano, and probably by the glass workshop of Salviati. Standing just over 6" 15.5cm) It has a body of uranium glass- although it will glow under UV light(as all uranium glass does) it also glows under merely subdued lighting. Or on a black background(a sure sign of quite a high uranium content) It is also gilded and enamelled with red and blue dots. And is a fine example of the glass of the period.
