The wooden base of this beautiful antique dome was completely hand crafted. Hand routered, lathed, sanded and the piece possesses four applied ball-bun feet. These old timers were used for displaying dolls. Taxidermy or clocks back in the day. I obtained this stately dome with the lovely 19th century French Japy Freres gilt ormolu bronze mantel clock that we are offering on eBay at this time. However, not all folks choose to display clocks in this manner, so we are offering it in a separate eBay auction. The oval pedestal base measures 19 1/2" wide X 9 1/2" deep and the dome stands 20 1/2" tall. And it weighs a hefty 10 pounds. 8 ounces. It measures approximately 8" high(on the wooden base) and the glass dome is about 5" in diameter. The wooden base measures approximately 6 1/2" in diameter and has a groove where the glass sits. The glass is in good condition with only a couple of tiny flakes to the rim where it sits in the wood base and the usual manufacturing flaws. Vintage Glass Cloche Bell Jar Victorian Domed Plant Doll Clock Cover with Handle
Offered is a good old vintage glass cloche or domed bell cover. For skeleton clock. Terrarium, dried flowers, doll, whatever you please. With rounded glass knob. Hollowed, about 2" across. Slightly flared rim. Can be used alone or with your wood base. The edge is fairly smooth. Though I would not call it polished, and there is some roughness on the inside rim. Nice vintage glass with no chips. Cracks or stains. There may be a bubble or two and there are. Some waves and some marks I think are called straws. That are in the making. 9" across at bottom and about 7" at the shoulder. 8" tall at the dome and 9 1/2" tall to top of finial. Another similar cloche offered separately. See final photo. Antique Church Recovered Victorian Large 15” Glass Dome Taxidermy Doll Display
This is an Antique Glass Display Dome that was Recovered from a Local 200 year old Church that was being torn down in the 1970's. It had been in the Church for years and sat behind the Stage Podium protecting a valuable artifact that was moved prior to the Church's destruction. It is a very Large Display Dome Measuring 15" in Height(glass dome without the base) and 8" in Diameter. The base is made of a poured"plaster" or gesso material. It is a footed base with 3 small rounded feet. The base is painted gold typical of classic church décor. There is a small chipped area on the interior edge of the base(see close-up) and there are some light scratches in the gold paint. Still in amazing condition for the age. Unusual Victorian Glass Display Dome Diorama Taxidermy Doll Clock
This is a very unusual bubble glass display dome. Selling just as I found it. As you can see by the photos there is a headless taxidermy bird with a naturalistic scene in the background. The glass dome sits on a footed wood base(for table display) or the glass can be taken off the base and there is a hook so that it can be hung on the wall as well. Obviously the inside items can be taken out and the dome used for whatever objet d'art or objet de vertu you choose. Glass is in excellent condition. Has some very old tape around the outer edge. The ebonized wood base shows some minor nicks. Measurements for the glass dome are 8 1/2" diameter x 4 1/2" deep.
