This wonderful and very rare authentic Egyptian/Ethiopic Coptic parchment scroll was initially dated from the 1800's but it is suggested it dates back to a much earlier era. This parchment scroll has a neatly executed Coptic text and is written in black and red ink. Colours of the Egyptian/Ethiopic manuscripts were very limited to only black and red ink. Much later other colours were used usually violet. Some manuscripts were written on strips of parchment then tied into a scroll which is exactly like the one in our photographs, there is a drawing at the very top of the scroll that suggests it is religious, ... morei have taken a close up picture for you to see. The text on scrolls usually contained general prayers and also charms to seek aid for a specific ailment or problem. Parchment was very expensive as it was made using animal hide, a long drawn out process was used to make the parchment and it was only used by wealthy and important people for writing important documents or for religious reasons"a bible" This particular scroll used to be the property of a London collector and was acquired in the 1970's The reason why this scroll is unique is because it was made for a person with a specific requirement. The length of the scroll was designed to be the same length as the person who wanted the scroll for prayer or ailment purposes. Normal 0 This highly detailed tanka depicts Buddha surrounded by an assemblage of divinities arranged according to their rank. It includes heavenly deities at the top and wrathful gods at the bottom. In Buddhist artwork. This sort of grouping is known as Tshog- Shing. The painting. Which was done on canvas, measures 23” wide by 34.5” tall. It is in fine condition with some tattering along the red border and a small stain in the lower left-hand corner. There are also a few spots of crinkled and/or damaged paint. Nevertheless, the painting is quite suitable for framing. The tanka(also spelled thangka) is currently rolled up and will be shipped in a mailing tube. A very rare piece of traditional Tibetan Buddhism artwork.

So they do have what might be Mediterranean corral on it as well as other forms of silt. Based on where they were found, what they are, and the condition we do believe these were probably from the Ottoman Empire after they captured Crete in 1646. Up for auction is a fine height medieval sword of the rare Oakeshott pommel type C/D. It was found in Vorarlberg. Austria many years ago. The sword is in good condition, cleaned and preserved with some minimal restorations. Only the cross guard is not fixed to the blade any more– but this is often the case on ground find swords.
