Very nice. Old antique cast iron doorstop! This gorgeous piece is probably Hubley. It features a beautiful English Bulldog or Boston Terrier which was mounted(years ago) on a thick wood back and base. It is in very good, antique condition with some expected age spots to the cast iron. There is still a nice finish to the dog and the wood base is very nice with wonderful aging characteristics. This is a unique piece as you don't find them mounted very often. The wood dimesions are 17" wide and 10.5" tall and is 4" from front to back. The dog measures 9" tall and is 8" wide. As you can see from the pictures it is in very good original condition with paint flecks and chips missing from the original paint.This is normal for a doorstop of this age and every day usage. It measures 3& 1/2" wide x 10& 1/2" long and weighs 4 pounds. The two halves of the doorstop are screwed together and the screw has never been touched. It's still sealed with the original paint. Winner gets an antique. Circa early 1900's, Hubley cast iron sailing ship door stop with what little remains of it's original paint. This is coming to you from an estate sale in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in it's original condition. There are no cracks, damage, or repairs. Please enlarge the pictures to see the oxidation that has occurred due to it's age. I'm sure it could clean up nice, it's still solid, the oxidation is just surface, but I wanted to leave it in original condition. Details Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a full figured French Bulldog. The bulldog is sitting on its hind legs and having its front legs straight. The dog's head is tilted sideways to its right and upwards. Its ears are perked-up. It is wearing a cream collar. The dog is colored in cream off-white and black colors. The details of the dog's face are very well cast so you can see its eyes. And mouth. Look at the wrinkles around the eyes. The door stop is made of two parts held together with a screw. The screw appears not to have been unscrewed in the past and we decided not to try to unscrew it to verify the existence of marks on the inside. For Auction I have a Doorstop made by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster. Pennsylvania. The subject is a Persian Cat or Kitten sitting watching in curiosity. The Doorstop measures approximately 8 7/8" tall and is 6 1/2" long. The depth of the Doorstop is approximately 4 3/4" Hubley doorstops and toys were mass produced however each item was handpainted to pay attention to the details and this Kitty doesn't fall short of any expectations. She has her Original Paint of Cream with a darker overspray for a nice warm Tan color. She has beautiful Blue Eyes watching attentively with a sparkle in her eyes. The Doorstop is in Excellent Condition and has most of her Original Paint with no touch ups and very minor paint loss or chipping.
