It is from the first edition of Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War. Which was published by McDonnell Bros. Chicago, Ill. part one was published in 1866 and part II in 1868. With the first part completed in 1866, it was one of the first works to put into perspective the account of the Great Rebellion, complete with woodcut illustrations, most of which were drawn on the spot by such artists as Winslow Homer, Granville Perkins, Livingston Hopkins and others for Harper's Weekly which chronicled the Civil War on a weekly basis. A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The map is not mounted. Matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. There is text on the reverse. Overall. A very nicely preserved print that would frame up well! Size: The image area measures approximately 9 by 14 inches on a 11 by 16" page with a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: It is in Good to Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging. Basically as seen in the pics. There is some darkening around the edges and one samll nick on the top edge, otherwise it is very clean and would frame up nicely. The pics are of the actual print. The Union lines are in blue and the Confederate in Red. A very beautiful map that will frame up nicely! Size: The map image measures 16 by 27 inches on a page measuring approximately 18 by 29 inches with plenty of margin all around for framing. It is a full double page sheet as issued. Condition: The map sheet is in Good to Very Good condition with overall light tonal aging. Blank on the reverse, printed on heavy pliable paper with a centerfold as issued. Smith, A.M. L.H.D. Published New York: The Century Company. 1889-1904, Size/ Format In millimetres(and inches) Sheet: 400 x 300(16" x 12" The Margins on all four sides are 18 mm(0¾" These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The maps have a single fold in the center. The maps are high quality lithographs with tasteful and appealing colors. The maps are printed on one side only. Condition These maps are very good condition. The maps themselves are clean and bright. There are a few marks in the margins of a few of the maps. This will be evident in the scanned images. ... moreWhich are high quality and unedited. The maps are untrimmed and are suitable for framing. Remarks The quality of these maps surpasses that of most. If not all, its American-produced contemporaries. These maps are much nicer than any of the Rand McNally or Cram's Atlas editions I've seen. Fought September 19–20, 1863, marked the end of a Union offensive in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia called the Chickamauga Campaign. The battle was the most significant Union defeat in the Western Theater of the American Civil War and the battle with the second highest number of casualties in the war(following Gettysburg) The battle was fought between the Union Army of the Cumberland under Maj. Gen. William Rosecrans and the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Gen. Braxton Bragg, and was named for West Chickamauga Creek, which flows into the Tennessee River about 3.5 miles(5.6 km) northeast of downtown Chattanooga. After his successful Tullahoma Campaign, Rosecrans renewed the offensive, aiming to force the Confederates out of Chattanooga. The three corps comprising Rosecrans's army set out for Chattanooga by separate routes. In early September, Rosecrans consolidated his forces scattered in Tennessee and Georgia and forced Bragg's army out of Chattanooga, heading south. The Union troops followed it and brushed with it

These are five maps from the United States Department of the Interior Geological Surveys of parts of Ohio. Included are: Fairfield County- 1958 Columbus- 1960 Millersport Quadrangle- 1961 Pataskala Quadrangle- 1958 Baltimore Quadrangle- 1961 These maps measure about 22" X 27" Most show some wear but are in pretty decent condition. The Fairfield County one has a couple small tears in it. Hopefully the pictures show any major defects.

1894 USGS GEOLOGIC FOLIO No. 13/FREDERICKSBURG Quadrangle/2 Full-Page Maps/VA,MD
A total of 227 geologic folios were produced by the United States Geological Survey between 1894 and 1945. We will be offering over 100 of them on eBay. Each folio includes both topographic and geologic maps for each quadrangle represented in that folio. And normally a description of the basic and economic geology of the same area. Some folios are not beautiful from the outside, but all are very functional, and the price is right. Number/Name of Folio- No. 13 Fredericksburg State- MD. They are 18.5x21.75" size, and may contain somewhere between 10 to 30 or so pages(major maps/tables are full page) Most cover a single USGS Quadrangle(typically 15 or 30-minute size) However, some cover between 2 and 5 quadrangles in a single folio. Several are Special Districts, covering a specific area rather than a complete quadrangle. Folio's will be sent rolled. CONDITION NOTES The Folio contents(especially maps) were printed on fine quality heavy paper; however. The covers were not. Covers are quite subject to soiling, chipping, tearing, chunks missing, etc, and if appropriate, covers may have been repaired with archival tape. Occasionally, the covers may have darkened the first text page inside. Vintage 1950 Scarce Pictorial Historical Illustrated Map The Appalachian Region
Here is a very nice. And somewhat scarce, Pictorial-Historical map entitled" The Appalachian Region" It features illustrations, epitaphes, historical sites, vignettes, and renditions of themes and famous events and places within that very region. The Appalachian Region per this map is centered on the states of Kentucky. Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The map was produced and copywrited in 1950 and it was illustrated by Clarence Kearfort(see Photo 2) The map is extremely detailed with cities. Rivers, place names, natural features, and historic sites. Of course, the Appalachian Mountains and their history run diagonally SW to NE down the center of the map, just as they do within the geography of the US. The map is profusely illustrtated. In fact, it is very professionally done. The story lines, drawings, and ... morethe way the sites, events, and places are described is more"adult" on this map than are typically displayed on pictorial maps of this era, in my opinion. Along the border of the map are illustrations of famous sites, events, people- such as Daniel Boone- which and who are associated with this region. Along the bottom portion of the border are drawings depicting various institutions and fame of the Appalachian region, such as"Camping" Recreation" Agriculture" Transportation" Manufacturing" and, Power" Along the top border section are dipictions of historical note: Indians; Settlers; The Coming of the White Man" etc. The map is very colorful with at least 5 colors. The map is in good to very good condition overall. There are 2 small tears along the edge within the border and outside the map area which would not be a factor if framed(see Photos 10& 12) The map is printed on heary paper stock of about 30 pound weight. At least. The paper has aged well showning a nice evern overall browning. But not severe; the colors are vivid and true as originally. I show this on the back side of the map(see Photo 11) The map is 24 3/4"

This is a map of the state of West Virginia from the limited printing of the 1947 post-war edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. It Is really a pretty map; the colors are bright. The printing is crisp, and it is in great condition. This map is a 2-page spread disbound from the encyclopedia. It was tipped in using a separate little tongue of paper, so the map itself was not cut as it was removed. There is a crease down the center where it was folded in the book. The map was a little too big to fit on my scanner, so not all of it is shown in the scan. It has a white border all the way around it. The map is 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The altitude is color-coded, from green for the lowest altitude through yellow and orange to red for the highest altitude. I don't know much about maps, so I don't know how this one was made. VINTAGE LITHOGRAPHED MAP LOUISVILLE KY by KARL SMITH 1934
Up for bids is a vintage multi-colored lithographed map of Louisville. Ky entitled"An Historical Map of the City of Louisville- Situated at the Falls of the Ohio in the County of Jefferson in the Commonwealth of Kentucky" Copyright 1934 by Karl Smith Louisville. Ky. There is nothing on the back. Along the edges on all sides are small illustrations of important places& events in Louisville. The map itself has various numbered points of interest& the key to these numbers are in the insets at the lower left& right corners of the map. The map is printed on heavy paper. Measures 19" tall& 25" wide overall and the image is 16" tall& 21.5" wide. It is in great condition but has the following condition issues: it has been folded in quarters& will be shipped that way. There are fold creases& ... morealong the creases at the top& on the left side there is a tear of less than an inch in the margin. There is another small tear along the left side margin just below the middle of about a half inch. The edges are generally in good condition but is somewhat ragged along the top edge& the left lower corner; there are a few small tears in just the margin at various places around the edge. Please see the photos for detail of the condition issues. All in all, this map is great for something almost 80 years old. I DO NOT accept returns except in cases of gross misrepresentation- I strive to give exacting descriptions& photos- so PLEASE if you have any questions or concerns.
