This is a beautiful set of 4 hard to find matching vintage 1950s Italian carved gold gilt frames. They're each marked made in Florence. Italy on their backs. Each measures 7.25" x 6.5" overall(18.4 cm x 16.5 cm) They can each fit an oval picture a little larger than 4" x 3.125" As this is the measurement of the face that shows.10.2 cm x 7.9 cm) Since these frames are made of two sections. You can actually take out the oval section if you want and have a rectangular frame left. The measurements for a picture that would fit this rectangular frame are 5.5" x 4.75" 14 cm x 12.1 cm) Each has a little hanging loop. This set is in very good condition. With a few problems from age. please see photos) One has some tiny green dots along the left side. Possibly from tarnishing. Offered- An Italian Full Leather Folding(Portfolio Style) Picture Frame. I would date this frame to the Arts& Crafts era- 1910/1920. The frame is beautifully embossed in shades of Mahogany/Brown with Gilt trim around the edges. This is a large frame- measuring 13 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches when closed. It would accomodate a 13 by 11 inch photo. The interior is covered in a Gold Silk Moire- The right side is framed in leather with an old-style plastic sheet that the photo would fit under. Offered is a pretty picture frame made of cast brass with an oval glass opening and fiberboard backing. The frame is in as-found antique condition as possesses the wonderful patina found on old frames. More than likely. It will polish to a shine, if that is your intention. The oval glass piece has a few edge chips which may be still visible when displayed. But very minor. The fiber backing has shrunk a bit over the years and leaves the assembly a bit loose and capable of falling apart. This can easily be remedied with spacers, glue or tape. Large Framed Vintage Italian Botanical Print (1757):
offering a larger(26 inches by 21 inches) vintage hand painted print in good vintage wood frame that is gold gilded-with the inner edge painted a pale.Pale green. It is double matted and was once appraised by an aunt before I inherited it. Purchased in the early 50s by my aunt in Italy-the script at the bottom of the print says"Arbutus folio serrato Aore oblongo fructu ovato" the nearest translation I can do is"artist's small folio of a threadbare cotton/wool shrub. On the left is the name"R. Landcake delin. On the right lower it says, T. Millor sculp. Across the bottom it says in English"Published by an Act of Parliment by P. Miller, Aprill(correct spelling) 28, 1757. I have researched this print for several days and do not feel comfortable guaranteeing its age, authenticity. What I do know is that it is in very ... moregood condition and has been hanging in my life(62 years old) the whole time. Very soft, yet strong colors, the paper is aged, but not stained or harmed. Since it was taken apart for some appraisal(of which I know nothing) at some point-there is a little piece of cardboard or paper under the glass. It looks like a punched piece in the picture-it is not) Please feel free to ask questions, but I will not take out of the frame to examine the piece itself. HUGE Vintage HAND-CARVED Florentine Gilt ITALIAN Picture Frame 30 x 40 c.1940s
Here is a HUGE vintage. Almost antique hand-carved Italian picture frame. It appears to be balsawood, or some other lightweight wood, measures 36 1/4 x 46 1/4 ins. in total, and the inner rabbet size is 30 1/4 x 40 1/4 ins. The molding is about 4 ins. wide. The frame is carved in the traditional Italian Florentine style, and this type of frame is used in art museums around the world. The frame is in fair as is condition with scuffs to the finish, wear from handling through the decades, some minor wood chip/breaks at some corners, miter separations on the corner ares. All of this is typical with old frames, and it is amusing that new repro frames like to add that' distressed' look to their'antique( not) frames. The frame is more beautiful than my photographs. The gilded color is very rich, the carving deep and detailed. On the ... moreback is stamped in a few spots, Made in Italy man made. This used to house a vintage oil painting that was from the late 1940s-early 50s time period. So I am placing this in that late 40s early 50s time period. Which makes it about 64-74 years old. This is a gorgeous vintage picture of a Lady. It think this frame is from Italy. It has a silver outer frame. The middle part is velvet. There is a gold tone colored frame that holds convex glass.
